Abstract

Cikawao Village, located in Pacet District, Bandung Regency, is a rural area characterized by strong social cohesion, communal values, and local wisdom. The elderly population constitutes a significant proportion of the community and requires special attention in efforts to promote sustainable community development. This community service program aimed to support the development of an Age-Friendly Village through a psychosocial approach that emphasizes active participation, intergenerational collaboration, and community empowerment. The program was carried out through three main activities: (1) participatory data collection and health screening for older adults, (2) training of age-friendly cadres focusing on empathic communication and the psychology of aging, and (3) the development of the CIKINI (Carita Jeung Aki Nini) module as a community-based tool for psychosocial education and social engagement. The program involved collaboration among lecturers, students, village officials, community organizations, and local leaders. The results demonstrated improved knowledge and skills of participants, increased community awareness regarding the role of older adults, and a collective commitment through the declaration of Cikawao as an Age-Friendly Village. This initiative is expected to serve as a sustainable model for promoting elderly well-being through psychosocial empowerment and community-based participation.

Abstract

This community service activity aims to strengthen English literacy in early childhood through instructional activities involving fruit salad making at the Chalisaturahmi Luqman Hakim Foundation in Medan. Participants consisted of 12 kindergarten students and 6 accompanying parents. The method used was participatory learning with a learning by doing approach, covering the stages of preparation, implementation, evaluation, and follow-up. Children were introduced to basic English vocabulary related to fruit names, colours, flavours, and simple instructions through the direct practice of making fruit salad. The pre-test and post-test evaluations showed an increase in English literacy skills with an average N-gain score of 0.6 (moderate category). Although the improvement was at a moderate level, this activity was able to foster enthusiasm in children, improve fine motor skills, build self-confidence, and maintain healthy living habits. This program also involved teachers and parents so that it could be continued at school and at home. Thus, this activity is relevant to support foreign language proficiency from an early age, in line with a curriculum that emphasizes active, creative, and fun learning, as well as being a model of contextual learning that can be replicated at various levels of education.

Abstract

One of the learning elements in Islamic Religious Education is the element of Islamic Cultural History (SKI). Through the right learning approach, Islamic Religious Education teachers play a role in improving literacy skills and reading comprehension of Islamic Cultural History events by using interactive storytelling methods. Interactive storytelling is not a contemporary learning method. However, interactive storytelling is rarely employed in the field of Islamic Religious Education studies, despite its potential to enhance the quality of learning, particularly in aspects such as literacy and storytelling skills. The purpose of this study is to describe and explain the planning, implementation, and implications of using interactive storytelling to improve the reading literacy skills of seventh-grade students in Islamic Cultural History material at SMP IT Al Bina Masohi. This type of research employs a qualitative approach, utilising data collection techniques that include observation, interviews, and documentation. The results of the study indicate that the use of interactive storytelling in the material of Islamic Cultural History at SMP IT Al Bina Masohi has been implemented quite effectively as an effort to improve reading literacy and foster storytelling skills.

Abstract

Training on Batik Making Process and Beauty Makeup Techniques to Improve Skills for Dasawisma Group RT 18/RW 03 Kalibader Village, Kalijaten Subdistrict, Sidoarjo is based on the problem of housewives of Dasawisma RT 18/RW 03 Kalibader Village, Kalijaten Subdistrict, Sidoarjo (Partners) with an average education level of junior high school, the majority of whom do not work, so that a lot of free time is usually used to gather/chat in one of the stalls so that it is not economically productive. Partners do not have makeup skills, so when there is an Independence Day celebration (if there is a carnival or performance) it is a hassle to have to go to a beauty salon which requires costs. Through the Beginner Community Service Grant (PMP) from the Directorate of Research and Community Service, Directorate General of Research and Development, Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia, training was held on the process of making batik and beauty makeup using the methods of socialization, training, technology application, mentoring and evaluation. The results obtained were an increase in knowledge and skills of Partners, and it is hoped that in the future batik skills and makeup techniques can help improve the family economy.

Abstract

The Special Region of Yogyakarta is one of Indonesia's leading tourist destinations, encouraging the growth of various creative economic sectors, including the souvenir and local craft industries. One community initiative that emerged from this opportunity is the Wanita Sejahtera Batik Group in Muja Muju, Umbulharjo, Yogyakarta. Established in 2023, the group aims to achieve economic empowerment for housewives through traditional batik production, including hand-drawn and stamped batik. However, the group faces several challenges, especially limited access to modern equipment, design innovation, and appropriate technology—factors that hinder the competitiveness of their products in both local and global markets. To address these challenges, capacity building is essential through the implementation of appropriate technology, such as replacing kerosene stoves with electric stoves and using electric canting tools, enabling more efficient and higher-quality production. Additionally, creative design training and product diversification with a focus on sustainability are crucial strategies. One notable innovation is the use of recycled cardboard waste as batik stamping tools, which not only supports environmental sustainability but also adds aesthetic and creative value to the products as part of eco-friendly goods. This innovation strengthens the group's position within the creative economy sector and aligns with market demands that increasingly prioritize sustainable and high-quality products. Through the integration of technological innovation, skill development, and eco-conscious approaches, the Wanita Sejahtera Batik Group has the potential to transform into a highly competitive business player, both nationally and internationally.

Abstract

This community service program aims to strengthen digital ethics awareness and build positive personal branding among teenagers through a Digital Public Relations approach. The program is driven by the increasing use of social media among teenagers, which has not yet been accompanied by adequate awareness of digital behavioral ethics and the importance of building a healthy self-image in the online sphere. The activities were conducted in person at SMKN 2 South Tangerang, involving more than 20 students as active participants. The program was designed as participatory training and interactive sessions covering topics on digital ethics, online reputation management, and strategies for building consistent, professional, and ethical personal branding. Participants were also given the opportunity to directly practice shaping their digital identity through social media platforms relevant to their character and goals. Evaluation results showed that the program successfully improved participants’ understanding and practical skills in responsible social media use. The satisfaction level was also high, with more than 90% expressing interest in joining similar activities in the future. This program also supports the achievement of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and the implementation of the “Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka” (MBKM) initiative through the active involvement of lecturers and students in the community empowerment process.

Abstract

The development of the Islamic banking industry in Indonesia shows a significant upward trend, with a market share reaching 7.5% of total national banking assets by 2023. However, the main challenge faced is the low public understanding of the principles and benefits of Islamic banking, particularly in areas with economic potential such as Central Lombok, which has unique socio-cultural characteristics. Service quality, particularly the role of Customer Service (CS), is crucial in increasing customer satisfaction and loyalty. Several previous studies have highlighted the lack of CS competency in handling complaints and educating about Islamic products, but gaps remain regarding the adaptation of CS services to the local context and the digital era. This study aims to identify the role of CS in improving customer service at Bank Syariah Indonesia KCP Lombok Praya using a quantitative approach that examines the relationship between CS competency and customer satisfaction levels. This research is expected to contribute to increasing the effectiveness of Islamic value-based services and digitalization, while addressing previous research gaps related to the influence of cultural contexts and technology. Theoretically, these results enrich the literature on Islamic banking and customer service, and are practically useful for developing service strategies in the Islamic financial sector.

Abstract

The purpose of this community service activity is to enhance the capacity of teachers at SD Inpres 45 Ambon thru a workshop with the theme "Teacher Capacity Development in Improving Welfare." The focus of the workshop is to enhance teachers' soft skills. Intrapersonal and interpersonal skills, as well as the use of digital technology and financial literacy, are included in this category. To measure the participants' increased understanding, pre-tests and post-tests were used. The pre-test results showed that teachers had a poor understanding of finance and technology, although they were highly motivated. The post-workshop tests showed a significant improvement in understanding family financial planning and methods for increasing income with digital skills. Additionally, teachers were instructed to use applications like Google Classroom and Canva to enhance learning and open up additional business opportunities, such as private tutoring. This activity aligns with Jaenuri's (2017) opinion on the importance of building teachers' social skills and personality. Additionally, the findings of Yani and Fahmi (2022) indicate that interactive workshops are effective in improving teachers' abilities. This activity makes teachers more confident in managing their finances and seeing opportunities for additional well-being. Therefore, this service not only enhances teachers' professional capacity but also increases their income. This also provides an example that can be applied in other schools with similar situations.

Abstract

This community engagement activity was conducted in Tarowang Village, Jeneponto Regency, to strengthen the economic independence of housewives through entrepreneurship socialization. The background of this program stems from the limited income opportunities for women in rural areas, where most households depend on traditional agriculture. The main objectives were to enhance the entrepreneurial knowledge and skills of housewives, reduce gender-based economic disparities, and promote the establishment of sustainable micro-enterprises. The methods applied included entrepreneurship socialization, interactive workshops, mentoring sessions, and practical training on business planning, production, marketing, and financial management. The activity involved 35 housewives as participants, of whom 90% reported a significant increase in entrepreneurial knowledge, and 70% showed improved confidence in managing small businesses. After the training, 12 participants successfully initiated home-based enterprises, such as snack production, traditional crafts, and herbal beverage processing, contributing to an average increase of 25% in household income. The results indicate that entrepreneurship socialization effectively enhances women’s participation in local economic activities and fosters a culture of self-reliance. The program’s impact extends beyond economic gains, as it builds social networks, improves decision-making roles for women, and encourages long-term community resilience. Overall, this activity contributes meaningfully to community empowerment by promoting inclusive and sustainable entrepreneurship as a driver of rural economic development.
