Abstract

Fruit chips are the result of the processing of horticultural produce that does not use high temperatures. The abundance of agricultural products in Indonesia and still not many agricultural product processing technology make the fruit frying business a good prospect. On the one hand, processing fruit chips with hight water content characteristics require a special frying technology called low temperature and pressure. On the other hand, this equipment is still not widely developed or even owned by small and medium enterprises. Therefore, this study aims to design and test a vacuum fryer for salacca. The vacuum method used is to use a vacuum pump recycled from the vacuum part of the cooling unit. The parameters observed were the effective capacity of the equipment, water content, and organoleptic test. The research results showed that the equipment's effective capacity was 0.26 kg/hr with 1.63% (w.b.) water content.

Abstract

The eligibility for hiring new employees based on certain criteria that the company expects is something that is very rarely obtained. The acceptance process may result in inaccurate and productive decisions due to inefficient admission processes. There are several criteria in making decisions about the recruitment of new employees at PT. Prosweal Indomax, which is based on latest education, expertise, age and work experience. Purpose made This system is able to help make decisions to determine the optimal recruitment process using the method Simple Additive Weighting (SAW). This method was chosen because this method determines the weight value for each attribute, then is followed by a ranking process that will select the best alternative. The research was conducted by finding the weighted value for each criterion, and then creating a ranking process that would determine which alternative was the best applicant.

Abstract

Reduced engine performance comes with a higher operating temperature, and that limit is imposed by component material life. It is critical to have an accurate, full-field evaluation of the metal temperature of the hot section components for engine designers to develop dependable and lasting engines. Using conventional thermometry isn't recommended since it fails to generate heat gradients and results in problems when transferring data from measurement sites to the readout unit. It has recently been discovered that the thermal transfer condition has changed, and as a result, the actual temperature of the components cannot be measured. A paint will permanently change color if it is exposed to heat, this kind of paint is known as a temperature signaling paint. The traditional method is to test the thermal coatings personally. A manual process of interpretation results in mistakes because there is no accurate detection of isothermal limits that impact human eyesight. A systematic methodology for automated interpretation of thermal paints is detailed in this paper. A technique for orderly picture capture, image segmentation, and image processing, which employs a correct algorithm for surface temperature interpretation, has been addressed.

Abstract

Fly ash can include toxins from high levels of bottom ash in some circumstances, such as burning of solid waste to generate power (resource recovery facilities or waste-to-energy conversion), and combining fly ash and bottom ash together delivers corresponding quantities of contaminants. Under some conditions, fly ash can be classified as non-hazardous waste, but if it is not blended, it can be classified as hazardous waste. The goal of this research was to find out about the differences between fly and bottom ash, as well as the influence of fly ash on bottom ash in terms of avoiding abrasion. In addition, the study's goal was to see how fly ash affected coconut fiber's resistance to abrasion. This study employed a quantitative technique in which the researcher used primary data sources such as questionnaires and observations, as well as secondary data sources such as prior studies. The findings revealed that fly ash had no effect on bottom ash in terms of avoiding abrasion. Furthermore, it is well known that neither fly ash nor bottom ash are effective against coconut fiber. Fly ash has a coarser texture than bottom ash, according to the findings. The regression test revealed that there was no difference between fly ash and bottom ash, as well as coconut coir, in terms of reducing abrasion

Abstract

Washing clothes is an important activity in everyday life, but it requires time, effort and money. Currently there are many washing machines manufactured by products on the market with one-tube and two-tube types that use electrical energy and digital modules as their operating tools. In this study, the application of CVT (Continuously Variable Transmition) in Mechanical Drive Washing Machines is designed, which utilizes human power as a resource so that it can reduce the use of electrical energy and can save costs besides that it can also be a means of exercise. The washing machine tube rotation is generated from the pedal stroke, which is passed from the sprocket or chain ring to the CVT which then goes to the pinion gear as changing the axial CVT rotation position to radial to rotate the washing tube.

Abstract

Bridges are connecting access between one region and another, and play an important role in transportation to facilitate community economic activities. The river bridge has very steep cliffs, and these cliffs often occur in landslides, therefore this study is very important to determine the safety of the bridge. This study aims to determine the safety of the bridge abutment structure which is the head of the bridge with the function of continuing the load on the bridge foundation. This analysis is limited to only calculating the stability and safety of bridge abutments with reinforced concrete structures. The analysis uses methods and formulas referring to Indonesian national standards, namely RSNI T-02-2005 regarding loading for bridges, RSNI T-12-2004 concerning concrete structure planning for bridges, SNI 03-2833-200X concerning earthquake resistance planning standards for bridges. The data used are drawing data and technical specifications used on the bridge, then the data is verified against planning consultants, project implementers, and observations at the location. The results of the analysis stated that the bridge abutment was declared safe from soil thrust and other forces, but did not have a good safety factor against shear forces. Landslides that occur can be resisted by the bridge abutments. This research is expected to be followed up by policymakers to repair bridges so that they are resistant to maximum shear forces, and provide safety signs from landslides to relieve public anxiety when crossing bridges, as well as provide reinforcement for the cliffs around the bridge.
