Abstract

Integral is a branch of algebra included in the calculus course, making it essential to master. This research aims to analyze the skills of students with visual learning styles, auditory learning styles, and kinesthetic learning styles using discovery learning on the topic of integrals. The method used in this study is a mixed-method approach with an Explanatory Design. The first stage involves the collection and analysis of quantitative data, which takes priority in answering the research questions. The next stage is the qualitative data collection phase, where three students with different learning styles are interviewed to gain deeper insights. The results of the study indicate that learning using the discovery learning model has a significant effect on students' learning outcomes. The average score improvement of visual, auditory, and kinesthetic students shows positive results through learning using the discovery learning model, with the highest improvement seen in kinesthetic students (23.67) and visual students (22.89). The results of the mean comparison test or ANOVA (One-Way ANOVA) show that the significance value is 0.027 < 0.05, which means there is a difference in the mean posttest scores of visual, auditory, and kinesthetic students. This study demonstrates the significant impact of the discovery learning model on integral learning outcomes, revealing that visual learners outperform auditory learners, while kinesthetic learners show comparable outcomes to visual learners.

Abstract

This study examines the evolving landscape of formative assessment in primary and secondary education through bibliometric analysis, emphasizing theoretical foundations, technological integration, and global applications. A total of 398 documents from the Scopus database (1997–2024) were analyzed using Biblioshiny for R, with an annual growth rate of 14.74%. Key metrics such as keyword co-occurrence, thematic clusters, and global collaboration networks were evaluated to identify prevailing research trends and gaps. The results highlight significant themes, including feedback mechanisms, self-assessment, peer assessment, and the integration of digital technologies like e-learning, gamification, and artificial intelligence. Collaboration patterns reveal the USA, China, and Germany as research hubs, while Southeast Asia demonstrates regional efforts. However, barriers such as inconsistent definitions, limited teacher training, and technological inequities persist. This study contributes novel insights by bridging critical gaps in the literature, particularly the lack of cultural perspectives and underexplored non-traditional educational contexts. It combines bibliometric analysis with thematic insights to illuminate the transformative potential of formative assessment across diverse educational settings. Educators and policymakers can use these findings to develop regionally tailored strategies for formative assessment, addressing implementation challenges and promoting effective practices globally. By fostering personalized learning and equitable access, formative assessment supports inclusive education, narrowing disparities across various learner demographics.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to find out whether there is a significant difference in the data on students' understanding of mathematical concepts with problem-based adaptive learning and conventional learning carried out at SMA Negeri 1 Pantai Labu. Class X students (n=150) were involved as research subjects as a population. Types of pseudo-experimental research with a quantitative approach. This research sample was taken using a stratified random sampling technique. The sample was divided into two groups, namely the experimental group consisting of 30 students who studied with Problem-Based Adaptive Learning and the control group consisting of 30 students who studied with conventional learning. This research is semi-experimental and the instrument is a concept understanding test. Data processing techniques include normality tests, homogeneity tests and independent sample t-tests with the help of the IBM SPSS Statistics 30 and Microsoft Excel programs. Based on the results of descriptive statistical tests, it was found that the average score for problem-based adaptive learning was 84.47 (SD=3,910) , while the average score for conventional learning was 89.40 (SD=2,513).  The results of data analysis show that there is a significant difference between students who learn through problem-based adaptive learning and conventional learning, with a significance value of 0.12 > 0.05, which means H1 is accepted and H0 is rejected.  So there is an influence of problem-based adaptive learning on the understanding of mathematical concepts of Class X students at SMA Negeri 1 Pantai Labu in the 2024/2025 academic year.

Abstract

This research was motivated by the misconceptions about teacher learning methods in chemistry subjects. This study aims to determine the effect of Focus Group Discussion method on cognitive abilities and cooperation skills of students on redox material. The research method used is quasi experiment. The results showed that the application of learning with the Focus group discussion method was more effective than the lecture method. Based on the statistical analysis test of the cognitive ability of the experimental class, the average value of the pretest and posttest was 62.79 and 74.85, respectively. In the control class, the average pretest and posttest scores were 61.76 and 69.41, respectively. The results of the cooperation skills analysis test of the experimental class obtained an average value of 63, 35, and 75, 76. In the control class, the average pretest and posttest scores were 29.65 and 38.47, respectively. Overall, the data showed that the application of the Focus Group Discussion learning method was able to improve the cognitive abilities and cooperation skills of students in understanding abstract concepts in redox material. Thus, the Focus Group Discussion method is potential to be applied in other STEM learning materials to encourage active attitudes and critical thinking of students in learning.

Abstract

The glyphosate’s continuous application in agricultural fields has caused adverse environmental effects. Utilizing indigenous microorganisms as glyphosate-degrading agents can be an effective and eco-friendly solution. Isolate Cf2, obtained from a local chili pepper plantation in Indonesia, grew as a co-dominant isolate in media with 50 ppm glyphosate, indicating its potential as glyphosate-degrading bacteria. However, this isolate cannot be applied yet because it has not been identified. Identification can provide initial insights into the safety of indigenous isolates for ecological application. Thus, this study aims to identify isolate Cf2 by utilizing the 16s rRNA gene sequence as the genetic marker. The data was compared to the database using the web-based BLAST2 program (version 2.13.0). Then, the evolutionary relationship of this isolate with its closest relatives was assessed through phylogenetic tree reconstruction. The results demonstrate that the isolate Cf2 has a sequence similarity of 98.88% with Bacillus subtilis. The phylogenetic tree reconstruction further indicates that isolate Cf2 forms a monophyletic clade with this species. Hence, it can be concluded that isolate Cf2 is indeed B. subtilis. This study is the first report of glyphosate-degrading B. subtilis isolated from chili pepper plantations in Indonesia, offering a new insight into bioremediation strategies.

Abstract

This research aims to develop module with context ethnomathematics wisdom local Bojonegoro on geometry, flat and solid geometric shapes that are valid and practical and have potential effects. This study is a development research using the ADDIE model. The subjects of this study include validators (media experts, material experts), mathematics teachers, and 8th grade students. Data collection techniques were carried out by interviews, filling out questionnaires, and tests. Based on research results, developed modules own validity of 0.82 so that categorized as very valid. The practicality of the module based on teacher responses of 84% is in the very practical category and student responses (small groups) of 97.2% are in the very practical category. Meanwhile , the use of module show positive impact to student learning outcomes of 75.9% are in the good category. Based on these data, the module ethnomathematics based on Pancasila student profile on flat and solid geometry material proven to be very valid, practical, and shows impact positive on student learning outcomes so that worthy used in learning.

Abstract

Argumentation skills are one of the skills that students must have in the 21st century.  Argumentation skills are important to develop because they can train students to communicate effectively in education, especially in science learning. This study aims to determine the description of students' argumentation skills, especially in biology subjects on environmental change material. The type of research used is descriptive quantitative using essay tests. 51 high school X-grade students were selected as samples in this study. The validity value of each item instrument is 0.403-0.596, meaning that all instrument items are said to be valid. The reliability result of the instrument is q = 0.736 (Cronbac's Alpha>0.60), so the instrument used is reliable. The results showed that the argumentation ability of students of the claim component was included in the highest component, with 66.2%, followed by the data component 23%, warrant 5.9%, backing 2%, and rebuttal 0% and the level of argumentation ability of students was still at level 1-2, the argumentation ability of students using claims, level 1 as much as (67.5%), supported by evidence, level 2 as much as (11.75%), warrants, level 3 as much as (2%), backing, level 4 as much as (0.5%), while the appearance of qualifiers and rebuttal, level 5 as much as (0%). The results show that there is a need for more attention to students through future research efforts should focus on implementing interventions to improve argumentation skills in students such as structured debates or problem-based learning and other learning models. It is important for students and teachers to collaborate with each other in honing argumentation skills to improve the quality of learning.

Abstract

Many science teachers have not yet used reflection as a means of learning evaluation, making it difficult for them to identify problems and find solutions. They also face challenges in determining the right medium for reflection. This study aims to explore the use of Padlet as a reflection tool for science teachers. A mixed-method approach was employed, involving three science teachers as qualitative data sources and 52 students as quantitative research subjects, divided into two classes. Data analysis was conducted using N-Vivo for qualitative data and SPSS for quantitative data, with t-tests and N-Gain tests applied to test the hypotheses. The results indicate that all three teachers agreed that using Padlet significantly improves learning quality. Quantitative data confirms the effectiveness of Padlet in enhancing reflective skills, with a t-test result of 0.000 and an N-Gain score of 75%. These figures indicate that learning with Padlet, integrated with the Group Investigation model in the experimental class, is categorized as effective. This study serves as a reference for science teachers to innovate in using technology for learning reflection, as Padlet has been proven to facilitate reflection for both teachers and students in science education.

Abstract

Despite increasing emphasis on Higher-Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) in mathematics curricula, classroom implementation remains limited and inconsistent. This qualitative study explored HOTS implementation in mathematics education, aimed to (1) identify effective instructional strategies for fostering HOTS, (2) examine teacher’ challenges, and (3) analyze classroom practices. The study involved 25 stratified junior high school mathematics teachers, with data collected over one academic year through semi-structured interviews, classroom observations, and document analysis. Thematic analysis followed Braun and Clarke’s six-phase framework.. The study highlights that an integrated instructional framework combining inquiry-based learning, collaborative practices, progressive learning support tailored to student needs, and technology significantly enhances higher-order thinking in mathematics. It demonstrates that aligning teacher beliefs, professional development, and systemic curricular support not only validates but also strengthens effective pedagogy for meeting the contemporary demands of critical thinking and problem-solving. Implementation is hindered by misalignment between curriculum goals and classroom realities, assessment practices, and theoretical professional development. Mathematics classrooms are progressively shifting toward critical problem-solving approaches, with teachers integrating analysis, evaluation, and creative tasks. Students demonstrate greater engagement with authentic tasks that connect to real-world contexts. These findings support the redesign of professional development programs and curriculum planning to enhance HOTS implementation in mathematics education.

Abstract

The 21st-century learning must integrate learning models that are appropriate to students' needs in facing the challenges of the times. This study aims to develop a project-based differentiated learning model oriented to Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) to improve students' critical thinking skills and biodiversity literacy. This model was designed by integrating a differentiation approach, project-based learning, and sustainability values. Validation by experts showed that this model has a high level of relevance and integration, with an average score of 4.7 on a scale of 5. Implementation of the model on high school students showed a significant increase in critical thinking skills (18.5 points) and biodiversity literacy (17.7 points) based on the results of the pre-test and post-test. The success factors of this model include contextualization of materials, differentiation approaches, and integration of sustainability values. These results indicate that this model is effective and relevant to be applied in biodiversity learning in high schools. This study recommends further development with a wider population to ensure the sustainability of its impact. The implementation of this model should be accompanied by comprehensive training for teachers to ensure a deep understanding of the principles of differentiation, project-based learning, and ESD values.
