Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of contextual science learning based on local wisdom on improving the science process skills of primary school students. The local context used in this study is the cultural practice of the Malind community in processing sagu sep using the stone-burning technique, which correlates with the subject matter of heat transfer. The research was conducted at SD YPK Tanas, involving 20 fifth-grade students as participants. A pre-experimental approach with a one-group pre-test and post-test design was employed. The research instrument consisted of essay-based tests covering five indicators of science process skills: problem formulation, hypothesis development, variable identification, data analysis, and drawing conclusions. Data analysis revealed a significant improvement across all indicators, with an average N-Gain of 0.82, categorized as high. The highest increase was observed in data analysis (N-Gain 0.88), followed by variable identification (0.85) and problem formulation (0.81). These findings indicate that science learning integrated with local cultural practices can enhance students’ understanding of heat transfer concepts and foster meaningful mastery of science process skills. Contextual learning based on local wisdom not only reinforces scientific concepts but also bridges science with students’ real-life experiences.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the critical thinking skills of vocational high school (SMK) students and to identify the factors influencing their development within the context of expository teaching in the subject of Sanitation, Hygiene, and Work Safety (SHWS). The research employed a one-shot case study design using both quantitative and qualitative approaches. A total of 20 tenth-grade students from a public vocational high school in Central Lombok were selected as research participants. Quantitative data were collected through open-ended tests designed to measure critical thinking skills across five key indicators, while qualitative data were obtained from open-ended interviews with subject teachers. The results showed that students' critical thinking skills fell into the "moderately critical" category, with an average score of 2.380 on a 5-point scale. The data also revealed significant variation among students, with no participants achieving the “critical” or “highly critical” categories. Thematic analysis of teacher interviews identified four main factors affecting the development of critical thinking: student learning readiness, the effectiveness of the expository method, limited practical facilities, and structural challenges in instructional implementation. The study concludes that the expository method is not fully effective in fostering students’ critical thinking skills, particularly in practice-based subjects such as SHWS. These findings highlight the importance of implementing more participatory and contextual learning strategies, improving access to practical resources, and strengthening teacher capacity in critical thinking pedagogy to produce vocational graduates who are cognitively competent and adaptive.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh model Problem Based Learning berbantuan media PhET terhadap hasil belajar fisika siswa kelas XI. Jenis penelitian ini adalah quasi eksperimental dengan desain penelitian nonequivalent control grup design. Populasi dari penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas XI SMA Negeri 6 Mataram yang berjumlah empat kelas. Sampel penelitian ini adalah kelas XI IPA 1 sebagai kelas eksperimen dan kelas XI IPA 3 sebagai kelas kontrol yang dipilih dengan menggunakan teknik Purposive Sumpling. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa nilai rata-rata Kelas XI IPA 1 yaitu 80,75 dan nilai rata-rata kelas XI IPA 3, yaitu, 68,84, secara stastistik data tes hasil belajar tersebut terdistrubusi normal dan homogen. Data hasil belajar di analisis menggunakan t-test Polled Varians, diperoleh  sebesar 6,26 dan  sebesar 2,00 pada taraf signifikan 5% dan derajat kebebasan 5, sehingga didapatkan   lebih besar daripada , maka H0 ditolak dan Ha diterima, dengan demikian dapat disimpulkan bahwa terdapat pengaruh model Problem Based Learning berbantuan media PhET terhadap hasil belajar gelombang berjalan dan gelombang stasioner siswa kelas XI.The Effect of Problem-Based Learning Model Assisted by PhET Media on the Learning Outcomes of Progressive Waves and Stationary Waves for Grade XI StudentsAbstractThis study aims to determine the effect of the Problem Based Learning model assisted by PhET media on the physics learning outcomes of class XI students. This type of research is a quasi-experimental research design with nonequivalent control group design. The population of this study were all students of class XI SMA Negeri 6 Mataram, totaling four classes. The sample of this study was class XI IPA 1 as the experimental class and class XI IPA 3 as the control class which were selected using the Purposive Sumpling technique. The results of this study indicate that the average score for Class XI IPA 1 is 80.75 and the average value for Class XI IPA 3 is 68.84. Statistically, the test data for learning outcomes are normally distributed and homogeneous. Study result data were analyzed using the Polled Variance t-test, obtained  of 6.26 and  of 2.00 at a significant level of 5% and degrees of freedom 5, so that the  is greater than the , then Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted, thus it can be concluded that there is an influence of the PhET media-assisted Problem Based Learning model on the learning outcomes of walking wave and stasionary wave of class XI students.

Abstract

The students' mastery of the subject matter has been identified to not reach the attainment indicator. The low learning outcomes of the students are suspected to be a result of the predominantly lecture-based teaching method, leading to passive engagement in the learning process. This research aims to describe the improvement in students' physics learning outcomes on the topic of quantities and units using the quantum learning model. The study employed a classroom action research conducted in two cycles, including planning, implementation, observation, evaluation, and reflection stages. Twenty-seven students were involved as subjects in this research. The data on students' learning outcomes were collected using a 20-item multiple-choice test, and the evaluation of the learning process was conducted by two observers using observation sheets. The research results indicate that the students' classical mastery in the first cycle was 63.16% and increased to 85% in the second cycle. This study concludes that the implementation of the quantum learning model can enhance the physics learning outcomes of the students at MTs Nahdlatul Mujahidin NW Jempong on the topic of quantities and units.

Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa pada mata Pelajaran IPA dengan menggunakan model pembelajran PBL. Metode yang digunakan adalah Metode PTK yang terdiri dari 2 siklus pembelajaran. Subjjek penelitian terdiri dari 15 siswa. Hasil belajar tematik IPA peserta didik kelas V SD Negeri 1 Tegaljadi dengan model pembelajaran Problem Beased Learning pada tema 1 muatan IPA mengalami peningkatan yaitu dari pra siklus dengan nilai rata-rata 62,67% dengan ketuntasan belajar klasikal meningkat menjadi 70 pada siklus 1, dan pada siklus II rata-rata nilai peserta didik meningkat menjadi 81.3% dengan kategori tinggi dan berhasil mencapai indikator ketuntasan belajar sebesar 86.67 %. Kesimpulannya dengan model PBL dapat meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa.Efforts to Improve Thematic Science Learning Outcomes Through the Implementation of the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) Model in Grade V Students of SDN 1 Tegaljadi Academic Year 2022/2023AbstractThe aim of this research is to enhance students' learning outcomes in the subject of Science using the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) instructional model. The research employed the Classroom Action Research (PTK) method, conducted in two learning cycles, with a total of 15 student participants. The thematic Science learning outcomes of fifth-grade students at SD Negeri 1 Tegaljadi, utilizing the Problem-Based Learning model in the first thematic topic of Science, demonstrated improvement. The pre-cycle average score was 62.67%, and the classical mastery learning increased to 70 in the first cycle. In the second cycle, the average student scores further improved to 81.3%, falling under the high category, and successfully achieving a mastery learning indicator of 86.67%. In conclusion, the implementation of the PBL model contributed to the enhancement of students' learning outcomes.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh model Problem Based Learning (PBL) terhadap kemampuan pemecahan masalah fisika siswa. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian quasi eksperimen dengan desain penelitian non equivalent control group design. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas X yang terdiri dari kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol. Instrumen dalam penelitian ini diantaranya tes kemampuan pemecahan masalah, lembar obervasi keterlaksanaan pembelajaran dan aktivitas siswa. Analisis hasil tes kemampuan pemecahan masalah pada kelas eksperimen mendapatakan skor rata-rata 69.07, sedangkan kelas kontrol mendapatkan skor rata-rata 61.50. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah analisis deskriptif dan analisis statistik. Hasil uji hipotesis menggunakan paired sampel t-test diperoleh nilai sig. 2-tailed < 0.05 dengan demikian Ha diterima dan Ho ditolak. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa terdapat pengaruh model Problem Based Learning (PBL) terhadap kemampuan pemecahan masalah fisika siswa.The Effect of Problem-Based Learning (PBL) Model on Students' Physics Problem-Solving AbilitiesAbstractThis study aims to determine the effect of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model on students' physics problem solving abilities. This research is a quasi-experimental study with a non-equivalent control group design. The population in this study were all students of class X consisting of an experimental class and a control class. The instruments in this study included tests of problem-solving abilities, observation sheets on the implementation of learning and student activities. Analysis of the results of the problem-solving ability test in the experimental class got an average score of 69.07, while the control class got an average score of 61.50. The data analysis technique used in this research is descriptive analysis and statistical analysis. The results of hypothesis testing using paired sample t-test obtained sig. 2-tailed < 0.05 thus Ha is accepted and Ho is rejected. This shows that there is an influence of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model on students' physics problem solving abilities.

Abstract

Penelitian ini adalah penelitian kulitatif dengan penekanan pada etnografi. Tujuannya adalah untuk melakukan eksplorasi etnosains pada masyarakat suku Malind untuk penguatan pemahaman konsep IPA siswa Sekolah Dasar di Kabupaten Merauke. Penelitian ini dilakukan di kampung-kampung masyarakat suku Malind. Metode penelitian yang digunakan yaitu survei deskriptif dengan alat pengumpulan data melalui wawancara, observasi, partisipasi, dokumentasi, dan literatur budaya masyarakat suku Malind. Pada penelitian ini peneliti memiliki peran sebagai human instrument (instrumen utama) yang mengamati dan mendalami secara langsung obyek yang diamati. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan terdapat 7 topik sains asli yang dapat dikaitkan dengan konsep pembelajaran IPA di SD. Berdasarkan hasil eksplorasi ini membuktikan budaya sains asli suku Malind dapat diintegrasikan dengan pembelajaran IPA di Sekolah Dasar. Penelitian ini dapat dijadikan rekomendasi bagi Dinas Pendidikan dan Kebudayaan Kabupaten Merauke untuk mengembangkan kurikulum pembelajaran IPA berbasis budaya dan kearifan lokal.Exploration of Ethno-Science among the Malind Community for the Enhancement of Elementary School Students' Understanding of Science ConceptsAbstractThis research is skin research with an emphasis on ethnography. The aim was to explore ethnoscience in the Malind community to strengthen elementary school students' understanding of science concepts in the Merauke Regency. This research was conducted in the villages of the Malind tribe. The research method used was a descriptive survey with data collection tools through interviews, observation, participation, documentation, and cultural literature of the Malind tribe. In this research, the researcher is a human instrument (primary instrument) who observes and explores directly the objects observed. The results showed that seven indigenous science topics can be related to the concept of science learning in elementary school. The results of this exploration prove that the indigenous science culture of the Malind tribe can be integrated with science learning in elementary schools. This research can be used as a recommendation for the Merauke Regency Education and Culture Office to develop a science learning curriculum based on local culture and wisdom.

Abstract

Tujuan dilakukan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui bagaimana pengaruh pembelajaran fisika dengan menggunakan metode cooperative learning tipe tari bambu tehadap hasil belajar fisika siswa kelas X SMA di salah satu sekolah di Lombok Tengah pada materi pokok listrik dinamis. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode eksperimen semu. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas X dengan sampel kelas X2 sebagai kelompok eksperimen (n= 37) dan kelas X3 sebagai kelompok kontrol (n=38). Kelompok eksperimen dibelajarkan menggunakan pembelajaran cooperative learning tipe tari bamboo, sedangkan kelas kontrol dibelajarkan menggunakan metode ceramah. Hasil belajar fisika siswa diukur menggunakan 18 butir tes berbentuk pilihan ganda. Data dianalisis secara statistic menggunakan uji-t dengan mempertimbangkan uji prasyarat distribusi dan varian data penelitian dengan taraf signifikan 5%. Berdasarkan analisa data yang dilakukan didapat  = 8,69 dan  = 1,99. Dengan demikian hipotesis yang diajukan dalam penelitian ini dapat diterima kebenarannya, bahwa ada pengaruh positif dari penerapan model cooperative learning tipe tari bambu terhadap hasil belajar fisika siswa kelas X SMA.The Effect of Implementing the Bamboo Dance Type Cooperative Learning Model on High School Students' Physics Learning OutcomesAbstractThis research aimed to investigate the impact of physics learning using the cooperative learning method, precisely the bamboo dance type, on the physics learning outcomes of 10th-grade students in a high school in Central Lombok, focusing on dynamic electricity. The research employed a quasi-experimental method. The population consisted of 10th-grade students, with the X2 class as the experimental group (n=37) and the X3 class as the control group (n=38). The experimental group was taught using cooperative learning with the bamboo dance type, while the control group was conducted using the lecture method. Physics learning outcomes were measured using 18 multiple-choice test items. The data were statistically analyzed using the t-test, considering the prerequisites of distribution and data variance at a significance level of 5%. Based on the data analysis, the t-value was 8.69, and the t-table was 1.99. Thus, the hypothesis proposed in this study is accepted, indicating a positive influence of the cooperative learning model, precisely the bamboo dance type, on the physics learning outcomes of 10th-grade high school students.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efektivitas penggunaan metode aktif learning tipe quiz team dalam meningkatkan minat dan prestasi belajar siswa kelas VII SMP. Jenis metode penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah penelitian eksperimen. Populasi penelitian adalah siswa kelasVII SMP, sedangkan sampel penelitian adalah kelas VIIB sebagai (kelas eksperimen) yang diberi perlakuan menggunakan metode active learning tipe quiz team dengan jumlah siswa 38 orang dan kelas VIIA sebagai (kelas kontrol) yang menggunakan metode konvensional dengan jumlah siswa 40 orang. Pengambilan sampel dilakukan dengan teknik cluster random sampling. Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan dalam pengumpulan data adalah tes hasil belajar dan angket respon siswa. Berdasarkan hasil analisis data diperoleh nilai rata-rata kelas eksperimen sebesar 73,29 dengan nilai tertinggi 90 dan nilai terendah 45, sedangkan kelas kontrol nilai rata-rata kelas sebesar 52,25 dengan nilai tertinggi 80 dan nilai terendah 25. Hasil sebaran angket, diperoleh respon pada kelas eksperimen sebesar 34,68 dengan (kategori tinggi) siswa merespon baik metode pembelajaran tipe Quiz Team. Berdasarkan hasil uji hipotesis diperoleh thitung sebesar 5,64 sedangkan ttabel sebesar 1,668. Karena thitung > ttabel, maka dapat disimpulkan bahwa metode pembelajaran tipe Quiz Team efektif meningkatkan minat dan prestasi belajar fisika siswa.The Influence of Problem-Based Learning (PBL) Model on Physics Problem-Solving Skills of StudentsAbstractThis study aims to determine the effectiveness of using the quiz team active learning method in enhancing the interest and academic achievement of seventh-grade students in junior high school. The sampling technique used was cluster random sampling. The research instruments for data collection included a learning achievement test and a student response questionnaire. Based on the data analysis, the experimental class obtained an average score of 73.29 with the highest score of 90 and the lowest score of 45, while the control class had an average score of 52.25 with the highest score of 80 and the lowest score of 25. According to the questionnaire distribution, the response in the experimental class was 34.68 (high category), indicating that students responded well to the quiz team learning method. Based on the hypothesis testing results, the t-value obtained was 5.64, while the critical t-value was 1.668. Since the calculated t-value > critical t-value, it can be concluded that the quiz team learning method is effective in improving students' interest and academic achievement in physics.

Abstract

In the contemporary educational landscape, cultivating critical thinking skills is imperative for students to thrive in the 21st century. Recognizing that critical thinking is not an instantaneous process, it is essential to employ didactic mechanisms specifically designed to hone this skill. Traditional expository teaching methods have been deemed insufficient in fostering critical thinking among students. Therefore, effective pedagogical intervention models are warranted, allowing students to engage authentically in everyday contexts. This study assesses the impact of an ethnoscience-integrated problem-based learning model on students' critical thinking skills. Employing a quasi-experimental design with a non-equivalent control group, the research unfolded in a secondary school in Mataram City, with a sample of 66 students divided into experimental and control classes. The experimental class experienced instruction through an ethnoscience-integrated problem-based learning model, while the control class adhered to traditional (expository) teaching methods. Critical thinking skills were assessed using a validated test instrument encompassing analysis, inference, evaluation, and decision-making indicators. Descriptive and statistical analyses were applied to scrutinize the data. The results revealed that students in the experimental class exhibited higher levels of critical thinking skills than their counterparts in the control class, which was statistically significant. In conclusion, this research establishes a significant positive influence of the ethnoscience-integrated problem-based learning model on students' critical thinking skills. Furthermore, it reaffirms the inadequacy of traditional (expository) teaching in enhancing students' critical thinking abilities.
