Abstract

This writing discusses about patriarchy culture of Toula’s family in The Big Fat Greek Wedding movie. Patriarchy culture is a social system in which men hold and control power. It is still found in many societies around. The Big Fat Greek Wedding tells about a Greek woman who falls in love with a non-Greek man and struggles for her family to accept the man as they confront their heritage and cultural identity. The purpose of this writing is to show that Toula’s family in this movie still adheres and resistances to patriarchy culture. Method used in this writing is qualitative method. Qualitative method is a method that involves an interpretive, description, creative, and unique, in the sense of understanding the subject matter. The data are collected and analyzed based on the perspective of literary criticism. The direct conversation and some gestures display related with patriarchy culture are taken. It is found that Toula’s father as the head of the family seems to have the power to take the decision for his family, meanwhile Toula as the child and Maria as the wife do not have. Based on the theories taken, patriarchy in this movie includes in private patriarchy. Private patriarchy originates in the home area as the first and foremost area of men's power over women. So, it shows that Toula’s family still holds the patriarchy culture. Keywords: Patriarchy, Gender Inequality, Gender Roles, Greek

Abstract

This research is entitled Semiotic Analysis of Dead End Traffic Sign Symbols. This study aims to determine the semiotic meaning of the traffic symbol Dead End based on the meaning of color, shape and also the meaning represented by the word Dead End itself using Charles Sanders Peirce’s theory. The method used in this study is a qualitative descriptive method because as a whole it explains how the process of sign formation and the meaning of the sign is carried out through a semantic approach. The results of this study indicate that the color, shape and also the naming of a symbol are things that have been determined and produced from every human perspective based on reality. Based on this research, it can be concluded that every symbol that is formed based on color, shape and also a word has a meaning according to each person's perspective. Abstract

The purpose of this study was to find out the opinion of high school students on the Drag and Drop Game as an interactive media for learning Japanese vocabulary. The method used is the ADDIE method (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation). Drag and Drop games are made using an application, namely Adobe Flash CS6. Questionnaires were used as a tool to collect student opinions and distributed to 12 extracurricular students at SMA Negeri 5 Cimahi. The results of high school students' opinions about the interactive media of Drag and Drop Game will be calculated using a Likert scale whether this Drag and Drop Game is feasible or not to be used as a learning medium. The results of the Likert scale are calculated based on the results of the number of questionnaires answered by the respondents, and the calculations obtained get a percentage of 90% results. From the percentage obtained, the Drag and Drop Game media has a very good category and deserves to be used as a medium for learning vocabulary in high school. Abstract

This study aims to determine the educational values ​​that exist in Shogi. This research was conducted using a descriptive research method with a qualitative approach, by documenting various kinds of data in observations from youtube, articles, journals, online books, and information from the internet, then summarized specifically and in detail based on what was researched. The results of this study prove that shogi has educational values ​​with the roles that exist in shogi that strengthen research by producing good characters in socializing, having high concentration, strengthening social relations both in the family and in public places, and also obeying rule. Abstract

This study aims to describe the representation of the courage (yu) value of the bushido contained in the characters Rengoku Kyojurou from Kimetsu no Yaiba Movie: Mugen Ressha-hen, Ikoma and Kurusu from Koutetsujou no Kabaneri Movie 3: Unato Kessen, and Fujimaru Ritsuka from Fate / Grand / Order: Shinsei Entaku Ryouiki Camelot. The research method used in this study is descriptive qualitative with Charles Sanders Pierce's semiotic analysis approach. The data were analyzed using Pierce's triadic model of signs in the form of representaments (signs), objects and interpretants (interpreters). Based on the results of the study, there is a representation of the value of bushido yu in each character which has signs in the form of actions that display high courage and self-confidence in each character. Abstract

The purpose of this study is to find out respondents respond about the Virtual Moji Learning learning media. The research method used is the Multimedia Development Life Cycle (MDLC) method. The process stages that will be carried out are conceptualization, design, collection of materials, manufacture, testing and distribution. This research was conducted online and involved 30 students of the 1st level Japanese Literature study program at the Universitas Komputer Indonesia. The method used in data collection is a questionnaire that is distributed online and the results will be calculated using a Likert scale. The results of this study indicate that the Virtual Moji Learning obtains a percentage value of 84.6% on the ideal percentage count, so it can be concluded that the Virtual Moji Learning video is suitable for use in the kanji N5 learning media. Abstract

Berdasarkan penelitian terdahulu mengenai pembelajaran, mahasiswa mengalami kesulitan dalam mempelajari bahasa Jepang. Oleh karena itu dibuat media pembelajaran berupa video animasi untuk membuat mahasiswa lebih mudah dalam mempelajari bahasa Jepang. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan bagaimana pembuatan media berupa video animasi dua dimensi berjudul Bunpou Manabou sebagai media pembelajaran tata bahasa dalam bahasa Jepang tingkat N5. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode Luther di mana terdapat enam tahapan yaitu pembuatan konsep, perancangan media, pengumpulan aset, pembuatan, pengujian, dan pendistribusian media. Media dibuat dengan bantuan software OBS Studio dan Adobe Premiere Pro dalam pembuatan medianya. Media diujikan kepada 30 mahasiswa Sastra Jepang tingkat I 2021/2022 Universitas Komputer Indonesia, kemudian data mengenai tanggapan dikumpulkan menggunakan kuesioner yang kemudian hasilnya dihitung menggunakan skala likert. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa konversi tingkat pencapaian skala 5 mencapai 84,6% yang berarti media Bunpou Manabou layak dijadikan media pembelajaran. Abstract

Learning media is a tool to support the learning process to run well. In Japanese language learning, there is a problem where students find it difficult to memorize vocabulary which is one of the important points in learning the language. This research aims to describe the process of creating learning media using Virtual Youtuber (Vtuber) which is an online entertainer that appears as a virtual avatar in the form of 2 dimensions or 3 dimensions by utilizing motion capture technology. This learning media uses ADDIE model for development, Live2D and IoLive as software to animate the Vtuber model. The result is Japanese vocabulary learning videos that can be accessed through Youtube channel. This learning media is suitable for beginner level Japanese learners. Abstract

The purpose of this study was to find out the history of the entry of ramen into Japan, and what kind of changes made ramen uniquely Japanese even though the actual ramen originated in China. To support this research, the authors used a descriptive method with a qualitative approach. Results show that ramen first entered Japan in 1880 when Japan began to open ports. Migrants from China opened a restaurant whose main menu was noodle soup. This is because in 1910 Japanese restaurants hired cooks from China to turn their food into delicious foods containing ingredients not previously used in the Chinese version of noodle soup. With the existence of Japanese culinary culture such as me de taberu. Japanese ramen or nihonfuu is very different from noodle soup originating from China. Keywords: Ramen, culinary, culture, Japan

Abstract

This study analyzes literary works in the form of song lyrics where the data is taken from one of Olivia Rodrigo's songs entitled 'Drive License' which was released on January 8 2021. The song is intended for a lover who betrayed her. This study aims to analyze the meaning of the song. In this song, the man is claimed to only give women false hope and a feeling of disappointment over the betrayal of their lover. This study uses an analysis that examines semantic meaning using the Contextual Meaning theory approach by Pateda (2010) to analyze the meaning of feelings in the song lyrics, namely the context of the speaker's mood, for example sad, disappointed, afraid, irritated. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method which is by making observations using phenomena or facts obtained by conventional data. The results of the analysis illustrate that the lyrics of the song 'Drive License' adopt a sketch aesthetic and describe Olivia Rodrigo's healing in her broken heart which shows her feelings of sadness and disappointment towards the man who hurt her.
