Abstract

This study aims to determine the macro socio-economic factors that affect the Happiness Index in Indonesia. The data used comes from the publications of BPS-Statistics Indonesia. The data used is panel data with a research period of 2014, 2017, and 2021 according to the publication time of the Happiness Index. The analysis model used is panel data regression analysis. Of the three panel models tested Common, Fixed, and Random), the fixed effects model was the best. The classical assumption test was carried out on the selected model. The result was that there were violations of the heteroscedastic and autocorrelation assumptions. Because it violates assumptions, the selected fixed effect model is transformed into the white cross-section GLS model. The results obtained, Simultaneously, all independent variables can influence the happiness index with a coefficient of 95 percent. The Gini ratio, the poor, and the open unemployment rate have a significant negative effect on the poverty index. In contrast, HDI, per capita/month expenditure, and economic growth positively impact happiness index. A comprehensive policy is needed so that the level of happiness of the Indonesian people continues to increase.

Abstract

Parental involvement in inclusive school is crucial for the development of children with special needs. Thus, the present study observed an inclusive primary school in Denpasar to identify the types of parental involvement in the school, the school's programs to involve parents, and the challenges faced by the teachers in involving parents in their children's education. Following Miles' and Huberman's (1994) model of Interactive Qualitative Data Analysis combined with Epstein's et al. (2002) types of parental involvement at school, the present study revealed that 1) all the six types of parental involvement’s in Epstein’s model were identified with an average of moderate frequency; 2) Seven programs were designed to involve the parents, namely, parenting seminar, class conference, WhatsApp Group discussion, Guest teacher, interactive project, field trip, and collaboration with English-speaking community; 3) there were moderate challenges in involving parents in communicating with the schools, in decision making, and in enrolling the parents in the school activities. This implies that there should be more deliberate effort from the parents in inclusive schools to be more involved in their children’s education, while schools should relentlessly initiate and inspire more intensive parental involvements in the schools’ program.

Abstract

This article reviews the difficulties of marginalized urban communities in Jakarta when carrying out social activities in the midst of a pandemic. In fact, many urban people live by maintaining a lifestyle with their group and tend to become urban rural communities. In this community, the social group becomes the main reference and even the reference in attitude. Social restrictions are considered to be a restraint on their habits and values, so that understanding the concept of social standing is in stark contrast to their daily habits and tends to be ignored. This paper provides an overview as well as a model of the cultural communication approach in collectivistic cultured communities that exist in village communities that are widely found in a number of big cities in Indonesia. The micro-ethnogafi method was applied to informants living on the outskirts of Ciliwung Kampung Pulo, East Jakarta. This study found that when the delivery of messages about COVID-19 was carried out through a cultural approach through the role of group leaders, the residents of Kampung Pulo were willing to interact by wearing masks and maintaining a minimum distance of one meter.

Abstract

Currently, there are many programs from the government related to urban villages. One of them is Kampung Kota Baru Tengah in Balikpapan City, which is the location for the Community-Based Settlement Environmental Management program (KOTAKU Program). The socialization program is carried out with an approach to the informal community. Socialization through community media is the mainstay of the government so that existing programs can be realized properly in society. This study aims to see the similarity of perceptions regarding space as a place to live. Considering that a common perception is one of the first steps to achieving the success of the KOTAKU program, where a common perception of where to live will become the vision of development in residential areas so that people will be more consistent in implementing the KOTAKU program. This study uses Multidimensional Scaling (MDS) analysis, which will then map the perceptions of settlements. The results of the perception mapping formed show that individuals in each community have different perceptions of settlements. Based on perceptions of reconciliation grouping, we found that 51% chose identity as the main reason for staying and 48.5% chose location dependence as the main reason for staying. This perception formed in the community suggests that government strategies for environmental and housing improvement programs are advocated to reflect or strengthen people's sense of identity and place dependability. Strengthening this sense of identity can be linked to any development activity that can reflect local wisdom, while the location dependency aspect can be linked to improving settlement infrastructure.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the importance of sopi, a traditional Manggarai drink, in the relationship between individuals and their sociocultural role in Manggarai. The data of this study was taken from two popular Manggarai song texts, Toki Sloki by MukaRakat and Langu, which Embong Lemot created. This article results from a qualitative descriptive study using an anthropological approach. This approach is used to see the role and position of sopi in the relationship between individuals and interpret their sociocultural symbols. Based on the analysis of the text of the two songs, it is known that sopi, as a traditional Manggarai liquor, has a sociocultural position and plays an important role in relationships with others and people who have died. Sopi glues relationships with others in respect, friendship, responsibility, and cooperation. In addition, sopi is also used to commemorate people who have died during traditional ceremonies or in the circle of friends of certain groups.

Abstract

Singapore is the most significant contributor to tourist visits to Indonesia, but in 2015-2016, the number of tourist visits from Singapore decreased from around 1,59 million people to 1,51 million people. This study aims to determine the efforts of Indonesia's public diplomacy in increasing the number of tourist visits from Singapore through Wonderful Indonesia as nation branding. This research is focused on 2016 to 2019. This research used a descriptive qualitative method by using data collection techniques in the form of interviews, and document collection, such as official documents from private sources and internet sources in the form of articles in relevant journals and publications, and can be ascertained their validity. The author also uses three stages of data analysis according to Miles and Huberman (1994), including data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions or data verification by data triangulation to explain the data obtained from the field in detail and clearly. The study found that Indonesia's public diplomacy efforts, which involved non-state actors by promoting Wonderful Indonesia, had a positive impact on tourism from Singapore. These efforts not only increased the number of tourist visits, but also boosted the country's foreign exchange income and earned recognition for the actors involved. Overall, the objective of these initiatives was to promote Indonesian culture, foster good relations with the Singaporean public, and create a favourable impression of Indonesia as a tourist destination. However, this promotional activity still has several obstacles due to the lack of infrastructure conditions in Indonesia around tourist destinations and Indonesia's level of security, as well as a small promotion budget.

Abstract

HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus) and AIDS (Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome) are global pandemics that draw the world's attention. Since 1987, the cases of HIV/AIDS have been declared as a humanitarian crisis and have become a challenge to the development and progress of Indonesia. In addition, as a province with a relatively large number of cases, handling HIV/AIDS is certainly a concern for the government and the church community in Maluku. In the process of pastoral counseling service by Maluku Protestants Church (GPM), the spiritual assistance to the People Living with HIV/AIDS (PLHA) is going well. Even so, they didn’t have guidance from a psychological perspective such as therapy or other methods to strengthen the assistance. To this concern, this study aims to develop a module of Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT) in pastoral counseling service for PLHA in Maluku Protestants Church. The method used in the study was a Research and Development with ADDIE Model. There are five procedural stages of developing the module based on this model namely, analysis, design, development, implementation and evaluation. The subject in the study were the servants of pastoral counseling in the Maluku Protestants Church who are spread in three service areas such as in Masohi City and Lease Islands (in Central Maluku Regency) and Ambon City (the capital of Maluku). The results conclude that the REBT module is effective for the pastoral counseling service to the PLHA in Maluku Protestants Church.

From the analyzed clauses, the dominantly built clause is the single constituent with marked theme where “We” is the mostly occurred subject. Yet, Google applied unmarked theme mosty in their clauses. With this dominant occurences of “We”, Google construe its existence as the authority holders of the w hole agreement. The researchers found that similar finite predicator appeared repeatedly such “collect” and “use” in building its clauses. These constitute Google’s strategy in order to force the user’s permission to let Google freely access their privacy. In addition, the operation of the conjunction “and”, extention, expansion and exemplificatory constituents represent the plentiful request of Google related to its user’s information. Those summarized the violation conducted by Google to its user’s privacy. Keywords: clause, forensic-linguistics, misleading-statement, privacy, violation.
