Abstract

Cash and in-kind transfers are two of the instruments utilized in an endeavor to further expand the economy and solve household welfare concerns. Aside from the government social security program, religious organizations provide a few informal cash and in-kind transfers to largely disadvantaged households. The primary goal of this research is to investigate the effect of cash and in-kind transfers from religious organizations on the consumption expenditures of Muslim households. The Indonesian Family Life Survey (IFLS) 2014 data is used. Using the Ordinary Least Squares method, this study discovers that Muslim households spend the cash and in-kind transfers from religious organizations on two types of household expenditure, namely personal expenditure and utility expenditure, due to the minimal disbursement. The subsidies distributed by the religious organization had a favorable impact on the consumption of Muslim households. An implication of the results is that Muslim households receiving cash and in-kind transfers from religious organizations became opportunities to smooth consumption expenditure. However, these two expenses made just a minor contribution to the overall household cost, so it is necessary to consider other potential impacts, such as savings, investment, or overall household welfare, on the fulfillment of needs that affect expenditure in Muslim households.

Abstract

Cash waqf is one of the methods used to help people with various activities and overcome challenges such as poverty reduction. The goal of this study was to determine excellent and proper cash waqf administration in line with Sharia and the standards of good waqf governance to increase social welfare, particularly in Baitul Maal Wa Tamwil Bima Magelang. This study employs qualitative research, with data gathered through structured interviews, passive participant observation, and recording. After that, the data was examined using qualitative descriptive analysis. The qualitative descriptive research approach describes the features of phenomena in the field and explains the study object. The findings of this study show that Baitul Maal Wa Tamwil Bima Magelang uses waqf management with the mudharabah system, with mudharabah financing allocated to goat farmers and Micro, small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), and that in the management of cash waqf, BMT Bima Magelang implements good waqf governance, which improves social welfare through social programs. Profits from finance are then utilized to fund businesses and make loans. The revenues from the mudharabah are then utilized for financing (scholarships) for BMT members, financing for child circumcision, and rehabilitation of locals' houses that are unsuited for habitation. These several factors indicate that BMT Bima Magelang's cash waqf management is in conformity with cash standardization, good waqf governance, and sharia management. Implications of the findings that Islamic finance practices can be effective instruments in achieving sustainable social and economic development goals.

Abstract

Insufficient public awareness and comprehension of coastal natural resource management Limited public education, community characteristics, and economic pressures frequently lead to coastal communities causing harm to the coastal environment. The utilization of coastal resources can be achieved through the implementation of coastal tourism. Ecotourism is a novel form of alternative tourism that has emerged as a response to the traditional model of tourism. This traditional model often exploits natural resources without considering their long-term sustainability and disregards the well-being of local populations. This study employs a qualitative research methodology that utilizes a descriptive approach, drawing upon both primary and secondary data sources. This study demonstrates a correlation between the environment and religion. Maqāṣid al-syarī'ah represents the fundamental principles of Islamic teachings that guide the creation of laws with a focus on the welfare and advantage of humanity. Conducting economic activities must align with the maqāṣid al-syarī'ah, which are the objectives of Islamic law, aimed at preserving al-mabadi al-khamsah, the five essential principles. The name of the place is "Green Leaf Mangrove". Ecotourism management encompasses initiatives focused on the preservation of mangroves, coral reefs, and turtles, as well as activities promoting conservation education, beach cleaning, and garbage processing. These programs are designed to align with the concepts of maqāṣid al-syariah, ensuring environmental management in accordance with Islamic values. Based on the results, this study has an implication that will help policy makers to improve and develop ecotourism quality while considering strategy for integrating tourism and environmental protection.

Abstract

The globalization of halal certification bodies in numerous nations indicates that halal issues are on the rise, which bodes well for the industry's expansion prospects. The purpose of this article is to examine the ramifications of halal certification on Indonesian industries, with a specific focus on the culinary and tourism sectors. By conducting a comprehensive literature review and employing a descriptive qualitative methodology, this research compiled data from pertinent scholarly journals, books, periodicals, and electronic media, including the official websites of the LPPOM-MUI and BPJPH assembly. The results of the study underscore the favorable consequences that halal certification can have on the development of the halal sector and the economy of Indonesia. In addition to providing consumers with information and protection regarding the halal status of products, halal certification serves as a mechanism for conducting business in accordance with Sharia principles. Acquiring halal certification confers a distinct competitive advantage upon businesses, bolstering consumer trust and generating amplified advantages. Moreover, this facilitates the government's efforts to stimulate the Indonesian economy and gain access to the worldwide halal food market. It is established that halal certification increases demand for halal products, thereby solidifying the halal industry's position as a major participant on the international stage. The implication of this research is for business actors and the government that halal certification strengthens the gaining position of a product.

Abstract

Poverty remains a significant issue in Indonesia, and natural disasters also play a role in affecting the economic conditions of communities. Pantai Bahagia Village is the area most impacted by tidal flooding. This research was conducted to assess the material and spiritual conditions of Pantai Bahagia Village and its eligibility to receive zakat funds. This study employs a mixed-methods approach, combining qualitative and quantitative methods with the Zakat Village Index (IDZ) 2.0 (Multi-Stage Weighted Index) as the analytical tool.. The results show that the IDZ 2.0 score in Pantai Bahagia Village is 0.56, which means the village is in a fairly good condition to be considered for zakat fund support. The findings of this research can serve as a reference for zakat institutions or the government in disbursing zakat funds, designing targeted programs, monitoring progress, and increasing community participation, which ultimately can improve the welfare of the community.

Abstract

This study aims to investigate how gold investing decisions and behavior are affected by Islamic financial literacy. From a population of 31,119 people, 100 respondents from Morotai Island Regency in North Maluku Province were selected as the sample using the purposive sampling technique, with a 0.05 error tolerance. By testing the outer model and inner model, partial least square-structural equation modeling is applied as a data analysis tool. Only 2 of the 9 indicators used to measure the proposed Islamic financial literacy variable met the requirements. Both investment decisions and behavior variable indicators have 3 and 4 qualified indicators, respectively. Several previous studies have used a general measure of financial literacy, but this study measures financial literacy with a specific Islamic financial literacy scale. The results of this study prove that Islamic financial literacy has a positive influence on a person's behavior and his/her decision to invest using gold investment instruments. People who are well-literate in Islamic finance will have an impact on their investing behavior, which will allow them to make wise investment decisions and improve their financial well-being.

Abstract

As the country with the largest Muslim population in the world, Indonesia has significant potential in the utilization of halal cosmetic products. The cosmetics industry in Indonesia also shows consistent growth every year. This research focuses on perfumes, which are an integral part of the cosmetics industry. The use of perfumes is also included in the Sunnah practices performed by Prophet Muhammad SAW. This research aims to investigate the purchasing intentions of Generation Z Muslims towards halal perfumes. This expansion includes exogenous variables such as religiosity, halal logo, halal knowledge, and halal awareness, with attitude considered as a mediating variable. This research is quantitative and uses a structural equation model applying Partial Least Squares (PLS-SEM) technique. The analytical tool used in this research is Smart-PLS 3. The data collection technique was carried out using the purposive sampling method, where specific criteria were established to select respondents. The data obtained comes from primary sources and was collected through questionnaires distributed via Google Forms. The results of this research show that religiosity and halal logo do not significantly influence attitudes or intentions to purchase halal perfumes; halal knowledge and halal awareness emerge as highly important factors. Gen Z with a deeper understanding of halal principles and high awareness of halal practices show more positive attitudes and a stronger inclination to purchase halal perfumes. Furthermore, this research explains the mediating role of attitudes in the relationship between halal awareness and purchase intention, highlighting the complex pathway through which consumer perceptions and values shape purchasing decisions in the field of halal products.

Abstract

This study examines the influence of the halal orientation strategy on the financial performance of companies, especially MSMEs based on the halal culture in Indonesia as a direct variable and a moderating variable. MSMEs were chosen as the research object due to their large proportions in Indonesia. This study is a quantitative research using primary data collected through a survey. The survey was carried out on MSME owners in Joglosemar (Jogja, Solo, and Semarang) and the surrounding areas. The data was processed using SEM (Structural Equation Model) PLS (Partial Least Square) to find out the relationship between the variables used in the model. Based on the test results, halal culture has a positive and significant relationship to financial performance as a direct variable, but it has no relationship as a moderating variable. Another variable that shows a positive and significant relationship is employee engagement. This is one of the first studies examining the relationship between halal orientation strategies and company financial performance. The findings can encourage MSMEs to implement a halal orientation strategy as part of improving the company's financial performance by establishing a halal culture and increasing employee engagement. It is also one of the first studies in Indonesia that examine the halal orientation strategy with a focus on MSMEs comprehensively.
