Abstract

This study aimed to adapt and validate the Organizational Commitment Questionnaire (OCQ) for use among university students actively involved in student organizations in Indonesia. The adaptation process involved several stages, including pre-conditioning, expert judgment, and backward translation. The participants consisted of 240 Indonesian university students who were actively engaged in campus organizations. Data were analyzed using item validity testing, Cronbach’s Alpha reliability analysis, and Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) to examine construct validity. The results indicated that out of the original 15 items, 6 items were found to be invalid and subsequently removed, resulting in a final model consisting of 9 items. The modified model demonstrated good fit with the empirical data, with a Cronbach’s Alpha coefficient of 0.931 and an Average Variance Extracted (AVE) value of 0.626, indicating high internal consistency and adequate convergent validity. Therefore, the adapted version of the OCQ can be considered a valid and reliable instrument for measuring organizational commitment among Indonesian university students involved in student organizations

Abstract

This study examines the relationship between social identity and tolerance toward diversity as an expression of citizenship in pluralistic societies. The aim of the research is to analyze how individuals’ identification with social groups relates to inclusive attitudes toward social, cultural, and religious differences. A quantitative approach with a cross-sectional survey design was employed. Data were collected from 25 respondents living in diverse social environments using structured questionnaires measuring social identity and tolerance toward diversity. Descriptive and correlational analyses were used to identify response patterns and relationships between variables. The findings indicate that respondents generally exhibit moderate social identification alongside high levels of tolerance, openness, and respect for diversity. Social identity was not found to hinder tolerance; rather, when non-exclusive, it was associated with inclusive attitudes and rejection of discriminatory tendencies toward minority groups. This study contributes to psychological and citizenship research by highlighting the importance of inclusive social identity in fostering tolerance, social harmony, and responsible citizenship in diverse societies.

Abstract

This study explores the role of campus organizational culture in shaping the mental health of university students actively involved in student organizations. The study aims to obtain an in-depth understanding of how organizational values, leadership practices, communication patterns, and social interactions influence students’ psychological well-being. A qualitative descriptive phenomenological approach was employed. Data were collected through in-depth semi-structured interviews, observations, and documentation involving three undergraduate students actively engaged in campus organizations in Banda Aceh. The data were analyzed using thematic analysis to identify recurring patterns and meanings in participants’ experiences. The findings indicate that organizational cultures characterized by solidarity, open communication, democratic leadership, and strong social support contribute positively to students’ mental health by fostering emotional safety, motivation, and resilience. Conversely, hierarchical, overly competitive, and unsupportive organizational cultures were found to increase psychological pressure, stress, and emotional exhaustion. This study contributes to the understanding of campus organizations as psychosocial environments and highlights the importance of developing healthy, inclusive, and empathetic organizational cultures to promote students’ mental well-being in higher education settings.

Abstract

Academic stress is a common psychological issue experienced by students and santri due to high academic demands. This study aimed to examine the effectiveness of the Butterfly Hug and Positive Affirmation techniques in reducing academic stress levels. A quasi-experimental method using a Non-Randomized Pretest–Posttest Control Group Design was employed, involving an experimental group and a control group. The participants were santri who experienced academic stress, measured using a validated academic stress scale. The experimental group received an intervention consisting of education and practice of the Butterfly Hug and Positive Affirmation techniques, while the control group received no treatment. Data were analyzed using paired samples t-tests and independent samples t-tests. The results indicated a significant reduction in academic stress levels in the experimental group after the intervention (p < .001), whereas no significant change was observed in the control group. These findings suggest that the Butterfly Hug and Positive Affirmation techniques are effective psychological interventions for reducing academic stress among santri. This study highlights the practical value of implementing simple and low-cost mental health interventions in educational settings.

Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has created a global crisis that affects not only physical health but also psychological well-being, particularly increasing anxiety levels in the community. Various protective factors have been proposed to buffer psychological distress, including religiosity. This study aimed to examine the relationship between religiosity and anxiety among community members during the COVID-19 pandemic. A quantitative correlational design was employed with participants drawn from early adulthood (18–40 years). Religiosity was measured using a multidimensional religiosity scale covering religious belief, religious practice, religious experience, and religious knowledge, while anxiety was assessed using a standardized anxiety scale. Data were analyzed using Pearson correlation analysis and ANOVA-based significance testing. The results showed a significant negative correlation between religiosity and anxiety (r = −.511, p < .01), indicating that higher religiosity is associated with lower anxiety. All four dimensions of religiosity were also negatively correlated with anxiety: belief (r = −.174), practice (r = −.459), experience (r = −.528), and knowledge (r = −.285), all at p < .01. These findings suggest that religiosity functions as an important psychological protective factor in crisis situations. The study contributes to culturally contextual evidence regarding the role of religiosity in reducing anxiety during large-scale public health emergencies

Abstract

This study examined the relationship between self-efficacy, resilience, meaning in life, and anxiety during crisis situations like the COVID-19 pandemic. Self-efficacy is considered an important psychological resource that supports individuals in coping with stressful and uncertain situations. Using a quantitative correlational design, data were collected from participants through standardized psychological scales measuring self-efficacy, resilience, meaning in life, and anxiety. Pearson correlation analysis was conducted to test the relationships among variables. The results indicated that self-efficacy was positively and significantly correlated with resilience and meaning in life, suggesting that individuals with higher confidence in their abilities tend to show stronger adaptive capacity and a greater sense of life meaning. In contrast, the relationship between self-efficacy and anxiety was negative but not statistically significant. Aspect-level analysis showed that the magnitude, strength, and generality dimensions of self-efficacy were consistently related positively to resilience and meaning in life. These findings highlight the protective role of self-efficacy in psychological functioning during crisis situations. The study contributes to the development of psychological intervention strategies by emphasizing the importance of strengthening self-efficacy and resilience to support mental health outcomes. Future research is recommended to apply longitudinal designs and include mediating variables to better explain these relationships

Abstract

This research confirms that although individuals with intellectual disabilities face significant challenges, they still have developmental potential that can be enhanced through appropriate support and intervention. This research aims to evaluate the effectiveness of interventions on a child with intellectual disabilities who is following a therapy program at the Insan Cemerlang Duri Foundation. The writer used an experiment with a single-subject design (Single Case Experimental Design), which allows for in-depth observation of changes in the subject's behavior before and after treatment. The subject of the study was "DZ", a 15year old boy with limitations in intellectual and communication abilities. Result Showed that DZ was still very dependent on parental assistance in daily activities, but began to show an understanding of simple instructions that were often repeated. The interventions provided focused on basic skills training and improving functional communication. The implications of this research are the importance of an inclusive environment, family involvement, and the use of individual experimental designs in developing interventions that are responsive to the unique needs of children

Abstract

Traumatic experiences can shape individual socio-emotional development and influence the emergence of prosocial behavior. This article aims to investigate how trauma relates to prosocial behavior and examine the role of resilience in modulating this relationship. Using a systematic literature review, empirical articles published between 2014 and 2024 were identified from international scientific databases with inclusion criteria focusing on trauma, resilience, and prosocial outcomes. Twenty-seven eligible studies were synthesized using narrative analysis based on thematic categorization. Overall results show that trauma tends to have a negative effect on prosocial behavior, particularly among individuals exposed to violence or disaster, while resilience consistently appears as a mechanism that weakens or transforms this effect into adaptive social responses. Several reviewed studies also indicate the possibility of prosocial development following adversity when resilience and social support are present. This review contributes conceptually by emphasizing resilience as a key psychological process underlying variations in posttraumatic prosocial outcomes and provides implications for intervention and prevention strategies aimed at strengthening adaptive resources in individuals who experience adversity. Keywords: prosocial behavior, traumatic, resilience

Abstract

Conformity pressure in peer groups is one of the factors that most influence the emergence of smoking behavior in adolescent boys. The classic findings of Solomon Asch's experiments provide the basis that individuals can adjust their opinions and actions when under the pressure of majority norms. In line with this, various public health studies and social network research have highlighted the mechanisms of influence and selection as the main explanation for why smoking behavior can spread in adolescent groups. This literature review examines in detail 10 major empirical studies related to the relationship between conformity and smoking behavior in adolescents, along with additional analysis from 25 other scientific sources. The results of the study showed that normative group pressure, social status in the school network, closeness to close friends, and social relationship patterns affect adolescents' chances of starting smoking. Its interaction with other environmental factors suggests that conformity does not work alone, but is interrelated to the process of social selection and group dynamics. These findings hint at the importance of social network-based interventions and strengthening anti-smoking norms as prevention strategies.
