Abstract

The low learning outcomes of IPAS elementary school students, especially in the material on changes in the form of abstract objects, shows the need for a more contextual and visual learning approach. So far, various studies have discussed the CTL model and digital pop-up book media separately, but there are still limited studies that combine these models and learning media.therefore, This study aims to examine the effect of applying the Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) model, supported by digital pop-up book media, on the learning outcomes of Grade IV elementary school students in the subject of Integrated Natural and Social Sciences (IPAS), specifically on the topic of changes in the states of matter. The research employed a quantitative approach with a pre-experimental one-group pretest–posttest design, involving 30 students as participants. The findings indicated that the data were normally distributed. Furthermore, the results of the paired sample t-test revealed a significant difference between the pretest and posttest scores (tcount 7.758 > t table 2.042 and sig. 0.000) The calculation of the effect size using Cohen’s d yielded a value of 1.416, which falls within the very large category. Accordingly, it can be concluded that the implementation of the Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) model, supported by digital pop-up book media, is effective in enhancing the learning outcomes of Grade IV elementary school students in science subjects, particularly on the topic of changes in the states of matter.

Abstract

This research is pushed by the phenomenon of low writing proficiency of students. Many students experience confusion when trying to form sentences, which in turn hinders their skill to write short stories effectively, both in terms of structure, vocabulary, and idea development. It is believed that applying the chain writing method could enhance students’ abilities to write short stories. Through pretests and posttests on 4th grade students in elementary schools, it is concluded that there is an influence of the chain writing method, particularly with the guidance of the digital media application “Let's Read.” This is supported by the outcomes of the posttest's mean score in the empirical Group being greater than in the control Group. The score for the control class was 74.6 while the score for the empirical class was 85.6. The outcomes of information analysis fulfilled a tcount value (-5.578) > ttable (-1.672) and fulfilled a remarkable score of sig. (2-tailed) 0.000 < 0.05. With these outcomes, it can be concluded that the chain writing method with the Let's Read application has a remarkable influence on short story writing skill of 4th grade students in elementary schools, compared to conventional studying by the lecture method.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze how in-depth learning using the greeting and question model can improve students' communication and critical thinking skills. This research is a case study with a qualitative approach. The subjects were lecturers and class A students in the first semester of the 2025-2026 Academic Year at the Elementary Madrasah Teacher Education Study Program, Syarif State Islamic University. Data collection techniques included interviews, observation, and documentation. Data validity was ensured using source-based triangulation and techniques. Data collection instruments included interview guides, observation sheets, and document checklists. Data analysis used the Miles, Huberman, and Saldana model, which consists of data condensation, data presentation, and data verification. The results of this study indicate that the implementation of in-depth learning using the greeting and question model can effectively improve students' communication and critical thinking skills. Improvement in communication skills occurs directly and gradually through active interaction and collaboration Improved critical thinking skills occur as a byproduct of the processes within this model. Students indirectly practice their critical thinking skills through the stages of material analysis, knowledge synthesis, question and answer evaluation, and problem-solving. In conclusion, the implementation of in-depth learning using the greeting and question model successfully improves students' communication and critical thinking skills.

Abstract

The lack of integration between research-based learning and character education remains a major challenge in Islamic higher education today, where students are required to master 21st-century skills while also developing strong character and academic integrity. This study aims to develop a Research-Based Learning model integrated with Character Education (RBL-ICE) and its associated instructional devices for the Basic Science course. The study employed a Research and Development (R&D) approach with the 4D model (define, design, develop, disseminate). The population comprised all Madrasah Ibtidaiyah (MI) pre-service teachers enrolled in the Basic Science course at IAIN Manado. The sample consisted of 15 students selected through purposive sampling. The measured variables included learning outcomes, learning motivation, and student character. Learning outcomes were obtained through pretest and posttest, learning motivation was measured using a questionnaire based on the ARCS model, and character was assessed using observation sheets. The validity of the model and instructional devices was evaluated by two material experts and two media experts. The material experts rated the research instruments, lesson plans, teaching materials, and student worksheets as very feasible, while the media experts rated the student worksheets and teaching materials as very feasible. Learning outcomes data were analyzed using prerequisite tests (normality) and hypothesis testing with a paired sample t-test, whereas motivation and character were analyzed descriptively. The implementation of the RBL-ICE model improved students’ learning outcomes, with an average pretest score of 66.67 and posttest score of 77.07, and an N-gain of 0.3271 (moderate category), accompanied by increased motivation and character in the positive category. These findings indicate that the RBL-ICE model is effective in enhancing the learning outcomes, motivation, and character of prospective MI teachers in the Basic Science course at IAIN Manado.

Abstract

In the context of Muna society, katoba exists as an educational ritual that continues to survive and exist amidst the onslaught of modernization. This study aims to examine how children are educated in the katoba ritual and its implications for moral education. This study uses Spradley's qualitative approach, which is included in the type of ethnographic research. This approach emphasizes an in-depth study of a particular cultural group or community. Data collection was conducted through observation, interviews, and documentation. Data collection was conducted through observation, interviews, and documentation. The data sources were one traditional leader (LS) and one religious leader (LM) who performed the katoba ritual. The research location in this paper is in the South Wakorumba district, Muna Regency. The selection of South Wakorumba district as the research location is based on the fact that South Wakorumba sub-district still maintains authentic Muna culture, thus the implementation of the katoba ritual is still carried out continuously. The results of the study indicate that the katoba ritual has a moral educational meaning contained in each of its three main steps: the initial implementation, the main implementation, and the closing implementation. The initial stage is marked by the wearing of traditional Muna clothing, the main stage is the core procession, namely the giving of toba advice from the priest to the toba participants, and the third is the banquet, which is the final procession in the katoba ritual. This educational value is obtained from the advice expressed by the imam to the Toba participants. The educational values are morals towards Allah, morals towards others and morals towards the environment.

Abstract

Education in the 4.0 era demands learning media that are enjoyable, interactive, and capable of increasing student motivation at the elementary school level. Preliminary findings at MI Nurul Huda Temayang revealed that Indonesian language learning, particularly capitalization material, is still monotonous and teacher-centered, resulting in low student engagement. This study aims to develop a gamification-based learning media integrating Google Sites, Canva, and Wordwall to enhance students’ motivation, engagement, and comprehension. This study employed a Research and Development (R&D) method using the ADDIE model involving 30 third-grade students. Data were collected through observation, interviews, motivation questionnaires, and learning outcome tests. The results showed that students became more active, motivated, and demonstrated better conceptual understanding. The developed gamification-based learning media proved to be feasible and effective in creating enjoyable and meaningful Indonesian language learning in elementary schools.
