Abstract

This research examines the associative and dissociative communication between the group SEVENTEEN and its fans, Carat, on the Weverse platform. Apps like Weverse have made the relationship between idols and fans increasingly dynamic in the digital age, enabling two-way communication through posts, comments, and live streams. However, this communication pattern often blends positive support with potential conflict—an issue that has not been widely discussed within the Indonesian fandom. The research question focuses on how associative communication (support, solidarity) and dissociative communication (reprimands, privacy boundaries) emerge in interactions and how this impacts the cohesion of the digital community. For observations conducted from December 2024 to June 2025, a qualitative method employing virtual ethnography and content analysis was applied. This utilized data triangulation from screenshots and field notes. The results reveal distinct patterns: associative communication through support (such as Dino’s “chanranghae”) and humor (such as Vernon-Carats), and dissociative communication through subtle reprimands (such as S. Coups and Woozi addressing inappropriate jokes). The negotiation of symbolic meaning reinforces loyalty and norms, according to symbolic interaction theory. On Weverse, communication fosters healthy fandom dynamics through a balance of associative (strengthening emotional bonds) and dissociative (maintaining ethical boundaries) interactions. This contributes to studies of digital communication and entertainment industry strategies.

Abstract

Farmer regeneration is a critical issue for the sustainability of agriculture and food security in Indonesia. This study aims to analyze how Indonesian online media frame the issue and its implications for public perception, using Robert N. Entman’s framing analysis supported by Voyant Tools on news data from Antaranews, DetikNews, and TribunNews in 2025. The findings reveal significant differences in framing: Antaranews presents farmer regeneration as a national strategic project emphasizing government roles, centralized policies, and technological solutions; DetikNews highlights localized approaches through regional success stories and the role of local governments; while TribunNews constructs the issue as a social movement driven by youth, collective awareness, and entrepreneurship. In conclusion, there is no single dominant narrative in online media regarding farmer regeneration, resulting in varied public understanding depending on media consumption. This study underscores the importance of an integrative policy approach that combines structural government intervention, local contextual adaptation, and youth empowerment to address farmer regeneration comprehensively.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze Generation Z’s reception of the representation of infidelity in the film Norma Antara Mertua dan Menantu using Stuart Hall’s encoding”“decoding theory. This research employs a qualitative approach with a reception analysis method. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with nine Generation Z informants who had watched the film. The findings show that 55.6% of informants occupy the dominant hegemonic position, fully accepting the film’s moral message and interpreting Norma as the most psychologically affected character. Meanwhile, 33.3% fall into the negotiated reading position, accepting the main message but interpreting the conflict resolution contextually. The remaining 11.1% are categorized in the oppositional reading position, showing resistance toward certain character representations and constructing alternative meanings.

Abstract

Adolescent involvement in Posyandu activities is still relatively low, even though their role is important in supporting the sustainability of community-based health programs. This study aims to analyze the strengthening of adolescent involvement through a participatory communication approach in the Posyandu Remaja Melati 6 program. This research uses a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. Data were collected through in-depth interviews and documentation involving Posyandu cadres, adolescents, and program managers. Data analysis was carried out through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing, with source triangulation to ensure data validity. The results of the study indicate that participatory communication plays a role in increasing adolescent involvement through open communication, providing space for active participation, and the use of media that are appropriate to the characteristics of the younger generation. In addition, dialogic and collaborative communication processes encourage a sense of ownership and awareness among adolescents about the importance of Posyandu. The findings of this study confirm that participatory communication functions not only as an information delivery strategy but also as an empowerment process that can increase active adolescent participation in community health programs.

Abstract

This study was conducted to analyze the communication strategies of TikTok micro-influencer “Uja (@syujaaja)” in building consumer purchase intent on the TikTok social media platform. The study employed a qualitative descriptive approach using the netnography method during the period of August–October 2025. Data were collected through observation of TikTok content, documentation, and analysis of audience comments using SocialKit, which was selected for its ability to categorize comment sentiment into positive, negative, and neutral. The results indicate that communication strategies such as storytelling, leveraging TikTok trends, active engagement in the comments section, and utilizing the “yellow shell” feature can increase audience engagement and gradually shape purchase intent. Additionally, the interaction between the influencer and the audience demonstrates the presence of social influence, which plays a role in shaping the audience’s perceptions and interest in the promoted products. This study concludes that the communication strategies of micro-influencers on TikTok not only function as a digital promotional medium but also build emotional closeness and audience trust through interactive two-way communication.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of media in digital social, political, and economic construction through a media political economy perspective. The method used is a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) of 20 reputable scientific articles for the 2020–2025 period selected using PRISMA guidelines. The analysis was conducted qualitatively with a conceptual and thematic approach to identify patterns of production, distribution, and framing of media content. The results show that digital media is no longer neutral but rather functions as a strategic actor that shapes social reality through ideological representation, power relations, and economic interests. In the context of digital politics, media becomes an arena for power contestation influenced by ownership structures, state intervention, and market logic. Meanwhile, in the economic dimension, digital transformation encourages media platformization based on data, algorithms, and monetization of audience attention, which strengthens digital capitalism. The resulting impact is ambivalent, opening up space for public participation while simultaneously triggering disinformation, polarization, and unequal access to information. The novelty of this research lies in the integration of social, political, and economic dimensions within a comprehensive and contextual analytical framework, particularly in understanding the dynamics of digital media in Indonesia. This research provides theoretical contributions to the development of media political economy studies and practical implications for understanding the relationship between media, power, and society in the digital era.
