Abstract

Comet fish (Carasius auratus) is one type of ornamental fish that is very popular with consumers and has commercial value because it has various shapes and colors such as yellow, white, black and red. Efforts to obtain the percentage of females can be done by sex transfer by immersing the larvae in purwoceng extract. Purwoceng extract (pimpinella alpina) is an aphrodisiac plant that contains compounds related to phytosteroids, such as stigmasterol which functions to improve sexual quality. This study used a completely randomized design with 4 treatments and 3 replications, the dose used was treatment A without dose (control), B dose 10 mg/l, C dose 15 mg/l, D dose 25 mg/l. The results showed that the highest percentage of female fish was present in the treatment dose (B) 10 mg of purwoceng extract, which was 45.94%, followed by treatment A 42.39%, treatment C 24.36%, treatment D 10.83%. While the highest growth was found in treatment D, namely 1.115 g, followed by C 0.820 g, B, 0.910 and A 0.785.

Abstract

The potential of seaweed S. duplicatum is quite abundant in this area, but efforts to develop its cultivation have not been developed until now. The reason is that there is no information related to the existence of this type of seaweed in North Maluku, especially in the city of Ternate. To recognize and utilize the existing potential, it is necessary to develop its cultivation. The objectives of this research are: to determine the effect of different thallus weights on the growth of S. duplicatum seaweed and determine the weight of the thallus which has the best effect on the growth of seaweed S.. dupicatum . The collection of seaweed S. duplicatum seedlings was carried out naturally in Sasa waters, at a depth of about 1 meter. The seeds obtained are then put into a container (plastic bag). After that, it is taken and then taken to the laboratory to be weighed. The weight of the thallus that has been weighed is then tied to each spanning rope which is placed into each container according to its thallus weight, namely thallus weights of 50, 70 and 90 grams. The container used for maintenance was fiber tub with a container length of 90 cm, width of 30 cm, 9 (nine) units. The results showed that the thallus weight of 90 grams gave the best results for the absolute weight growth of 101.66 grams and the thallus 50 grams gave the best results for the relative growth rate of 1.437%.

Abstract

Garbage is not only a problem for people in urban areas but also in islands. The lack of awareness and knowledge and the availability of final waste disposal facilities on the island are the reasons for the accumulation of garbage and waste polluting the waters. This study aims to produce a household waste management model that will support the sustainability of marine resources on the coast by knowing the type and amount of waste and waste produced by island communities and analyzing family behavior in its management and village government support in supporting the sustainability of coastal environmental resources. This research is qualitative research with descriptive correlation analysis. The sample was randomly selected as many as 50 families on Kapoposang Island, representing 4 RT areas. The results showed that 82 women contributed to producing household waste, and men (18%) made waste from fishing activities. The type of waste on the island is 65% organic waste and 35% inorganic, where it is known that 15-20% is plastic. The average waste generated is 0.2 kg/liter per person/day, with a total waste of all household respondents of 10 kg/day. The island produces around 1170 Kg/day of household waste/day. The government's role in facilitating waste management training is still low (12%). The existence of the PKK program and youth groups that love the environment will support the development of waste management.
