Abstract

The coconut crab is a marine biota that spends most of its adult phase in the terrestrial environment. Coconut crabs are also economically valuable because they can be traded as food ingredients and body frames used as home jewelry. However, the coconut crab is classified as a rare animal, and the distribution area is getting narrower. The purpose of the study was to determine habitat preferences and environmental characteristics. The research was carried out in the Tomajiko sub-district, Hiri Island district. Implementation time for six months from April – September 2021. Data Collection Procedure. The determination of the station is determined based on the difference in location or distance from the residential area. Sampling stations were determined at 3 (three) coconut crab fishing locations, namely stations I, II, and III with stations. The study results obtained 53 individuals who were female, 25 canary crabs, and 28 males, with a sex ratio obtained. During the study 1:1, there was a balance. Among the three stations, coconut crabs were mainly found in Station I, which had soil temperature, soil pH, and relative humidity suitable for the life of coconut crabs compared to other stations.

Abstract

This study aims to describe living capital used by small fishermen households and fishing workers in Ternate City. The study results indicate that there are various ways that both small fishermen and fishing laborers use their livelihood strategies through their livelihood capital. In fishermen's labor households, the highest utilization of livelihood capital includes natural capital in the high category, namely 50%, human capital in the medium category (87.50%), physical capital in the medium category (56.50%), financial capital in the medium category (68, 50%). 75%), and low category social capital (87.50%). While for small fishers, natural capital is in the high category (71.91%), human capital is in the medium category (62.92%), physical capital is in the medium category (84.27%), financial capital is in the medium category (65.17%), and financial capital is in the medium category low social category (70.79%). It can be concluded that the use of livelihood capital for both fishermen and small fishers is moderate primarily. In contrast, the high utilization of natural capital indicates that fishers and small fishermen have high access to fishery resources and continue to go to the sea despite extreme weather or climate conditions.

Abstract

Octopus vulgaris in the Bone gulf waters was caught with modified fishing rods resembling crabs, caught throughout the year with the peak fishing season in the west season (January to March) with a small population without any management regulation. The purpose of this study was to obtain information on growth patterns, condition factors, and sex ratio of O. vulgaris in the Bone gulf waters. The method used is a survey method. The sample measurements were carried out at the largest collector domiciled on Kambuno Island, Sinjai Regency, South Sulawesi Province from May to August 2021. The measurements of dorsal mantle length (MLd:cm), body weight (g) and sex determination were carried out directly in the field. The results showed that the dorsal mantle length of O. vulgaris ranged from 7.0 cm – 20.0 cmDML (13.7±2.3 cmDML) with a weight between 50 g - 3270 g (1076.4±522.5 g) for males and 7.0 cm – 22.0 cmDML (13.0±2.3 cmDML) with a weight between 70 g - 4800 g (1043.8±526.4 g) for females. Negative allometric growth patterns. The sex ratio between males and females is not balanced.

Abstract

The research to determine the marketing development strategy in an effort to increase sales of processed nutmeg meat products carried out in Small and Medium Industries in Ternate City. with the consideration that these IKM have developed in creating product diversification, varied selling prices and forms of service to consumers, so that they have potential. The analytical method used is the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) which consists of three levels, namely goals, criteria, and alternatives to identify and classify marketing mix strategies in marketing processed nutmeg meat products by determining criteria and selecting alternative strategies based on similar characteristics in decision making. The results showed that the goal of the marketing mix selection strategy in an effort to increase sales of processed nutmeg meat products as a whole was the affordable price criterion with a weight of 0.245, and the alternative choice of the price strategy with a weight of 0.403 indicated that price was the main determining factor in purchasing, so that the Ternate City IKM actors in determining the selling price prefer to provide affordable prices, because low price products can provide an image and believe that the need for products will always continue in the long term.

Abstract

The level of damage caused by P. xylostella reached 75%. Until now, the control still relies on the use of chemical insecticides. Efforts to minimize control with chemicals need to be done because chemical control has a negative impact on health and the environment, one of the environmentally friendly controls that can be applied is the use of plant-based insecticides which of course contain active compounds that can suppress and even kill pests. One type of plant that can be used as a vegetable insecticide is basil (Ocimum basilicum). Researchers conducted research using basil extract as a vegetable insecticide to control Plutella xylostella pests. The method used is the dyeing method (residue on the leaves of the feed). Using a completely randomized design (CRD) with 5 treatments: extract concentration 15%, 25%, 35%, 45% and control, 5 replications. The results showed that the highest mortality was found at a concentration of 45%, namely 80.75%, the higher the killing power because the increase in concentration was directly proportional to the increase in toxic substances, the number of toxic compounds contained in the extract made the mortality high. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that basil extract is effective in controlling P. xylostella pests.

Abstract

The research to determine the potential for developing duck farming in Ternate City, especially Ternate Island and South Ternate Districts with the consideration that these areas have the highest population of duck breeders, and have potential development areas. The data collection method was carried out by observation, the sources of data obtained were primary and secondary data using qualitative and quantitative methods. The analysis used in this study is descriptive to describe the potential of the region, the potential of breeder resources, and the potential of individual breeders, while to see the economic potential using R/C-Ratio analysis. The results of the study indicate that the sub-districts of Ternate Island and South Ternate have potential areas for the development of ducks because they have a lower population density, so the area tends to be wider. The potential of breeder resources for the average breeder age is productive category, experienced in raising livestock. Economic potential by using R/C-Ratio analysis, the results of the feasibility test by obtaining an R/C-Ratio value of 2.7 (financially feasible), this indicates that if the addition of Rp.1 will get an income of 2.7. then the duck farming business in Ternate City has the potential and is feasible to be developed.

Abstract

The aim of this study is to find out how much heavy metal mercury is in wastewater from gold processing in mining activities.Field observation methods for direct observation and sampling have been used at mining and processing sites. In the laboratory, the Hg content of liquid waste from mining was tested. The field survey is divided into three stages: pre-survey, main survey, and laboratory analysis. Water samples were collected at five predetermined points based on the condition of the waste and the potential for contamination. The results revealed that two of the five samples taken had extremely high mercury content, namely 5.0828 pp Hg at location 02 and 6.3060 pp Hg at location 03. Furthermore, three samples with low Hg content were found between other locations: 01 contains 0.5499 ppm, 03 (B) contains 0.0182 ppm, and 04 contains 0.0015 ppm. This is based on Ministerial Decree No. 202 of 2004 concerning the quality standards of wastewater for businesses and mining activities involving gold or copper ore, with a maximum level limit for mercury (Hg) of 0.005 mg/l ppm and regulatory water quality standards. According to Government Order No. 82 of 2001, the maximum level of Hg is 0.0001 mg/l ppm.
