Abstract

In the learning of the earth physics, sometime students got comfusing due to they cannot imagine how to determine the physical property of the earth such as, its mass, its volume and its diameter. This study was focused on how to use the sunlight for degermation of the earth radius through the simple experiment. In this study, an accurate and simple method have been introduced to the student on how to measure the earth radius. The experiment just used a camera and then the student started to determine the earth radius. In the end of the experiment student can explain how the sunlight can be used to determine the earth radius mathematically. They found that the radius of the earth is about 6243.04 km with a standard deviation of 13.70 km. The average results that is obtained by student is actually within 1.9% of the real value of the earth radius which is at 6371 km. This study shows that the real experiment is definitely able to show the real experience on how to determine the earth radius.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to observe whether the examined learning design can improve students' creativity. at the petroleum lesson by using the examined learning design. This research was conducted in Madrasah Aliyah Negeri 2 Takengon. The preferred samples were three second-grade students, a chemical teacher, and two expert lecturers. In this study, the method was descriptive. as it involved two experts, who were lecturers, a chemical teacher, and three second-grade high school students. The data collections were carried out through external and internal feasibility tests. An internal feasibility test was conducted on the chemistry teacher and two expert lecturers, while an external feasibility test was conducted on the three second-grade students. Based on the results, the score results in almost every RADEC stage with a percentage of 91.6% and categorized as very strong, except for the sub-indicator of development creativity or enriching ideas acquired scores of 83.3%. These results imply that petroleum oil learning design with the RADEC model is applicable in the learning process to develop students’ creativity. students’ creativity could be improved by applying chemical learning that uses this learning design.

Abstract

This research is based on the limited discovery learning based learning tools that integrate 21st-century skills. The purpose of this study is to produce a valid and practical discovery learning-based of the learning tools that integrate to 21st-century skills in trigonometric material. The development model used the 4D model which consists of the define, design, develop, and disseminate stages. The tools being developed were syllabus, lesson plans, and student worksheets. The instrument used was a validity instrument in the form of a validation sheet, practical instruments in the form of student response questionnaires, and observation sheets. The data collection technique was carried out by distributing questionnaires and observations. The limited trials were conducted on 16 students of class XII MIPA 1 SMA Babussalam Pekanbaru, while practicality trials were carried out in class XI MIPA 2 SMA Babussalam Pekanbaru. The data analysis technique used in this research is quantitative data analysis and qualitative data analysis. From the results of data processing obtained an average syllabus validation result of 3.20; lesson plans 3.36; and student’s worksheet 3.43. The average student response questionnaire results in limited trials and field trials were 85.75% and 91.25%, respectively, with the very practical category. The average result of the observation sheet on the implementation of learning activities was 87%. It can be concluded that the learning tools developed are valid and practical.

Abstract

Education today focuses on creating characters who are able to face future challenges. The first challenge in this global era is the need for every student to have process skills in 21st century learning known as 4C: (1) Communication Skills, (2) Collaboration skills, (3) Critical Thinking and (4) Creative. One of the characteristics desired in 21st century education is a communicative and collaborative character. The purpose of this study was to determine the improvement of the communicative and collaborative character of students after using guided inquiry-based e-LKPD on acid-base material. The form of this research was quasi-experimental research. The research sample consisted of 2 classes, namely the experimental class (XI MIA 1) and the control class (XI MIA 2). Based on the research, the results showed that the use of guided inquiry-based e-LKPD on acid-base material can improve the communicative and collaborative character of students through observation results with an average value in the experimental class, respectively, namely 89.25% and 85% with the high category compared the control class is 44.75% and 36.75% with the low category.

Abstract

Abstract This study sheds light on the skill of three secondary school English teachers in Indonesia in making use of questions referring to the Bloom’s Taxonomy to keep students engaged in the course of the lesson. It adopts qualitative content analysis where the stages of decontextualization, recontextualization, categorization, and compilation were conducted. Three YouTube videos which provide the teaching performance of these three teachers had been the data collected in this study. From the findings, it discovers that these three English teachers still preferred applying the lower-order thinking questions to higher-order thinking questions which had been the type of teachers in Asia, including Indonesia. Consequently, students did not get ample chance to develop their critical thinking skills. This study therefore highly recommends that teachers need to get much exposure to the higher-order thinking questions as it is one of the demanding skills needed in the 21 first century.

Abstract

This study aims to look at the role of empowerment Science Teachers Association (MGMP IPA) in improving the Professional competence of science teachers in the city of Dumai, Indonsia. This type of research was descriptive qualitative. The population of this study were all teachers in MGMP IPA Dumai. The research sample was 70 teachers who were members of the MGMP IPA Dumai. Data collection technique were using questionaires and test. The result showed that average professional ability of the teachers was 74 in good categories, pedagogical average was 61 in the moderate category and PCK was 56 in the moderate category. This shows that MGMP IPA Dumai has not fully played a role in increasing the professional competence of teachrers.

Abstract

The need to learn programming to solve many complex problems facing humankind necessitated this study. The purpose of the study was to collect information about students’ perceptions and experiences after exposure to the think-pair-share programming strategy. The sample consisted of 12 senior secondary school two students offering computer studies in Ijebu zone, Ogun State, Nigeria purposively selected from the two experimental groups. The data were collected through one-on-one in-depth interviews of the respondents using a Student Interview Guide (SIG). The data analysis was through thematic content analysis procedure. The study found that the respondents perceived the think-pair-share programming strategy helpful to learn programming concepts with or without computers. The study also found that the use of computer was more useful for the acquisition of programming skills than without the use of computers. Moreover, the study found that programming without computers was perceived to improve thinking. Therefore, the study argued that teachers should adopt the use of think-pair-share programming strategy for learning how to write programs notwithstanding the availability of computers due to its ability to aid knowledge retention.

Abstract

 Learning outcomes are a description on how students understand the material presented by the teacher. Learning outcomes are output values in the form of numbers or letters obtained by students after receiving learning material through a test or exam delivered by the teacher. This study aims to determine the effect of emotional intelligence, learning behavior, motivation on learning outcomes either simultaneously or partially. The method used in this research is descriptive method. Based on the data analysis and hypothesis testing that has been carried out in this study, the results of the research show that there is an influence of Emotional Intelligence and Learning Behavior on Motivation with a t-count of 5,912 emotional intelligence on motivation and learning behavior with a bear t count of 4.408 thus it can It is known that emotional intelligence and learning behavior affect learning motivation. The conclusions are as follows: 1) The influence of Emotional Intelligence and Learning Behavior on Motivation. 2) The influence of Emotional Intelligence and Learning Behavior, Motivation on student learning outcomes.

Abstract

Information literacy is closely related to critical thinking skills. Critical thinking skills are related to exploring and evaluating information to make argumentation with relevant and appropriate information. It includes analyzing and synthesizing information to solve a problem where these activities are part of information literacy. Thus, information literacy-based learning should be able to enhance critical thinking skills. This study aims to determine the correlation between critical thinking skills and student’s information literacy enhancement through learning chemistry with the PjBL-IL model on the biogas production context. This study used a pre-experimental method - one group pretest-posttest design involving 32 high school students. Students' critical thinking and information literacy skills were measured using tests. Critical thinking skills and information literacy enhancement on high and medium category with N-gain score are 72.90% and 66.20% respectively and show a low correlation with a correlation coefficient value of 0.144. Where the basic support indicator has a negative correlation (r = -0.105). Thus, critical thinking skills enhancement is not always in line with information literacy.

Abstract

The main aim of this research paper is to explore the dynamism of availability and use of textbooks in school education of Nepal and giving recognition to pedagogical attributes and quality assurance competencies. Textbooks are reliable and trusted supporting materials that provide deeper understanding of critical concepts on the subject matter. The hermeneutic discussion with five secondary teachers and twenty students from community school of Nepal reports the necessity and glory of textbooks in the daily practices in the classrooms which ultimately equipped for knowledge economy and enhancing skill development for the sustainable growth of the nation. The availability of textbooks provides a mental framework for teachers and students on what and how to teach students and what to learn in the classroom. The research was conducted with the purposive sample with 25 participants of community school from urban and rural area of Nepal. The findings of the research made clear that the availability and use of textbooks are not same and the government of Nepal must allocate sufficient budget to provide textbooks to the school going students so that availability and use of textbooks will be creatively enhanced and also develop the culture of using textbooks and sharing with their friends in the classrooms shaping their future and academic success.
