Abstract

This study aims to describe and analyze the planning, implementation, monitoring, evaluation and supporting factors and obstacles of the Principal's service strategy in improving the quality of education in Favorite Schools in Sabang City. The research subjects include three schools, namely State Junior High School 1 Sabang, State Islamic High School 1 Sabang and Pondok Pesantren Sulaimaniyah Sabang City. This research method is descriptive with a qualitative type using data collection techniques through interviews, observation and documentation. Research informants consist of the Principal, School Supervisor, Deputy Head of Curriculum, Deputy Head of Student Affairs, Deputy Head of Facilities and Infrastructure, Homeroom Teachers, Guidance and Counseling Teachers, Subject Teachers, Parents/School Kumite and Students. The results of the study indicate that the results of the study indicate that the principal's strategy can improve the quality of education in the three Favorite schools in Sabang City.

Abstract

The decline in student literacy rates in Indonesia has prompted the adoption of extensive reading strategies with self-regulated learning (SRL) strategies to increase interest and independent reading skills. This case study aims to explore students' experiences using SRL strategies during extensive reading activities. Five high school students volunteered as participants, and data were collected through weekly journals and reading logs documenting the SRL phases (forethought, implementation, and self-reflection), as well as semi-structured interviews after the activity. The study findings indicate that SRL strategies help students choose appropriate learning strategies, improve time management skills, and facilitate the achievement of reading goals. Overall, participants reported positive benefits from using SRL, including improved English language skills and more effective learning management. The study's conclusions confirm that the application of SRL has proven relevant and beneficial in the context of extensive reading, providing practical implications that SRL-based literacy education can support increased interest and independent reading skills among high school students.

Abstract

This study explores how an English as a Foreign Language (EFL) teacher implements translanguaging practices when giving instructions in a multilingual junior high school classroom in Bogor, Indonesia. Using a qualitative case study approach, data were collected through classroom observations, interviews, and documentation. The findings reveal that the teacher spontaneously employed translanguaging strategies to facilitate comprehension, reduce confusion, and enhance student engagement. Three types of translanguaging were identified: intrasentential, intersentential, and tag-switching. Intrasentential and intersentential translanguaging were most frequently used to scaffold instructions and explain tasks, while tag-switching was used to manage classroom interaction and attention. Although not formally planned in the lesson plan, the use of translanguaging emerged as a purposeful pedagogical strategy to support students’ understanding and participation. This study underscores the importance of recognizing translanguaging as an inclusive and effective instructional tool in multilingual EFL classrooms.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the role of the Pusaka Raudhatul Irfan Islamic Boarding School in shaping the habituation of fair and civilized human values in the lives of students. The background of this study is the concern over the erosion of Pancasila values amid the tide of modernization that influences the character of adolescents, such as the rise of individualism, intolerance, and low social awareness. The approach used is qualitative descriptive with techniques of observation, interviews, and documentation conducted from May to June 2025 in Karawang Regency. The results of the study indicate that the pesantren actively applies values of equality, respect for diversity, a spirit of mutual care, and freedom of expression in the daily lives of the students. This is manifested through communal living, mixing students from different regions, consultation forums, mentoring, and extracurricular activities. Despite challenges such as mild verbal discrimination and potential cultural conflicts, the boarding school successfully addresses these issues through a family-oriented approach and moral education. This entire process positions the boarding school as a strategic institution in character education rooted in the values of the second principle of Pancasila.

Abstract

The digital revolution has brought significant changes to education, particularly through the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI). This study, titled “The Influence of Artificial Intelligence (AI) on Learning Motivation and Task Independence Among PTIK Students at Semarang State University,” aims to examine the role of AI in supporting students’ academic engagement and autonomy. The research involved 30-100 students, enrolled in the Informatics and Computer Engineering Education Program (PTIK). Learning activities generally included lectures, discussions, and project-based tasks, where students actively utilized AI applications such as ChatGPT, Grammarly, and programming assistants. The integration of these tools created a more interactive classroom atmosphere, encouraging motivation and independence in task completion. A questionnaire was designed based on three variables—AI usage, learning motivation, and task independence—validated by experts and distributed online through Google Forms. The instrument employed a five-point Likert scale, and responses were collected within two weeks. Using multiple linear regression analysis, the results revealed that AI usage had a positive and significant influence on both learning motivation and task independence. Key factors included ease of information access, real-time feedback, and personalized learning experiences. These findings highlight the strategic importance of AI-based approaches in enhancing learning effectiveness and fostering student autonomy.

Abstract

This research highlights the importance of elementary school libraries as learning resource centers and drivers of early literacy development. Effective management can increase reading interest and support learning. At SD Inpres 1 Tanamodindi, challenges include a shortage of professional librarians, limited new book collections, and manual management. The study analyzes current conditions, challenges, effectiveness, and strategies for improving library management. Using a case study approach, data were gathered through interviews, observations, and documentation involving the principal, library staff, and direct observation. Findings show the library has a clear management structure, adequate facilities, comfortable reading rooms, neatly organized collections, and effective literacy programs, including daily activities and class visits. Obstacles include limited personnel, small collections, manual record-keeping, and space use that interferes with learning. In conclusion, library management at SD Inpres 1 Tanamodindi is well-structured and progressing. Improvement strategies include utilizing BOS funds, gaining education office support, enhancing staff capacity, and developing a digital system to build an effective, sustainable library.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the inferiority experienced by the character Rondasih in Minanto's novel Kemelut Rondasih dan Dua Anaknya (The Turmoil of Rondasih and Her Two Children). The main focus of this study is to explore how Rondasih's feelings of inferiority affect her social interactions, decisions, and character development throughout the story. This study uses a qualitative approach with descriptive analysis methods. The subject of this study is the novel Kemelut Rondasih dan Dua Anaknya by Minanto, while the object of this study is inferiority based on Alfred Adler's psychological theory. The data collection techniques used in this study include observation, literature study, listening, note-taking, and conclusion analysis. The results of the study show that the character Rondasih reflects an inferiority complex in the form of indecision, fear, insecurity, shame, cowardice, a need for support, and feelings of helplessness. Rondasih's inferiority complex influences her decisions and relationships with other characters in the story. These findings are expected to provide a deeper understanding of the characters and psychological dynamics in the novel.

Abstract

This study aims to develop and test the effectiveness of the literacy learning based on the BiG 6 model combined with the Snowball Throwing technique to improve critical thinking, problem-solving, and collaboration skills of PGSD students. This research uses the Research and Development (R&D) method with the ADDIE model (Analyze, Design, Develop, Implementation, Evaluation). The research subjects were 3rd-semester PGSD students at Muhammadiyah University of Malang in the 2024/2025 academic year. Data collection techniques include observation, questionnaire, documentation, and effectiveness test using N-gain calculation. Validation was carried out by two experts, namely literacy experts and learning strategy experts. Literacy expert validation results of 3.78 are included in the very good category. Validation results from model expert validators amounted to 3.47 in the good category. The effectiveness of the model is in the moderately effective category with an N-gain value of 66.4%. Student response to the model showed a high level of interest, with a percentage of 92.4%. literacy learning based on Big 6 using Snowball Throwing is proven to be able to create valid, effective and interesting learning, and improve students' information literacy skills.

Abstract

Education today emphasizes the importance of numeracy literacy as part of the basic competencies in the Merdeka Curriculum. Numeracy literacy is an essential skill for students to understand and use mathematics in real-life contexts. This study aims to examine the influence of the Reading to Learn learning model on students' mathematical numeracy literacy skills in statistical material. This study uses a quantitative approach with a post-test-only control group design. Two eighth-grade classes at SMP Negeri 2 Suwawa were randomly selected as the sample. The experimental class was taught using the Reading to Learn model, while the control class received conventional instruction. The research instrument is an essay test that has been validated to measure mathematical numeracy literacy. Data analysis shows that the distribution is normal and the variance is homogeneous. The independent samples t-test revealed a significant difference between the post-test scores of the two groups, with the experimental class achieving a higher average. The effect size, calculated using Cohen's d, is 3.53, indicating a strong effect. These results indicate that the Reading to Learn model significantly improves students' mathematical numeracy literacy. This model helps students understand concepts contextually, think critically, and actively participate in learning.

Abstract

Despite years of English instruction, many Indonesian senior high school students remain hesitant to speak due to anxiety, fear of mistakes, and low self-efficacy. Speaking confidence is influenced by both internal factors, such as self-perception, motivation, and linguistic competence, and external factors, including teacher support, peer interaction, and classroom environment. This study aims to identify and analyze the internal and external determinants of students’ confidence in speaking English. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, data were collected through open-ended questionnaires distributed to 25 eleventh-grade students at MA Sirnamiskin Bandung. Responses were analyzed thematically to identify recurring themes. Findings reveal that psychological barriers—such as anxiety, low self-esteem, and fear of negative evaluation—significantly hinder students’ confidence. External elements, including supportive teacher feedback, peer encouragement, and school programs like English Day, were found to enhance confidence. Consistent practice through media exposure and real-life interactions also contributed positively. The study concludes that improving speaking confidence requires a holistic approach that addresses emotional, social, and experiential aspects of learning. These results provide practical implications for teachers and school administrators to design supportive and engaging speaking activities that foster students’ confidence in English communication.
