Abstract

Character education is an important element in shaping students' moral, social, and emotional competencies, particularly within the context of the Indonesian Independent Curriculum. One strategy to strengthen students' character is through the implementation of the Pancasila Student Profile Strengthening Project (P5). This study aims to describe and analyze the implementation process of P5 in strengthening students' character, the assessment standards used, and the follow-up plan developed to improve the quality of education in junior high schools in Sukajaya District, Sabang City. This study used a qualitative descriptive method involving interviews, observation, and documentation. Informants included the principal, curriculum team leader, subject teachers, and students. The results showed that the implementation of P5 in State Junior High School 2 Sabang focused on a sustainable lifestyle theme through ecobrick activities, while State Junior High School 2 Sabang adopted an entrepreneurship theme through a school bazaar event. All implementations followed the four main stages of P5: planning, implementation, evaluation, and follow-up. Assessment emphasized authentic evaluation based on student participation, creativity, and collaboration. It can be concluded that the implementation of P5 made a positive contribution to strengthening students' character and improving contextual learning, although continuous improvement and teacher guidance are still needed.

Abstract

This study investigates the effect of Mystery Box media on fourth-grade students’ interest in learning Natural and Social Sciences (IPAS). The research was motivated by low student engagement due to monotonous teaching methods, limited variation in instructional media, and minimal opportunities for active participation, which reduce students’ enthusiasm during lessons. A quantitative approach using a quasi-experimental post-test only control group design was employed, involving two classes: the experimental class taught using Mystery Box media and the control class taught using conventional methods. A validated and reliable learning interest questionnaire served as the research instrument. Data analysis revealed that Mystery Box media significantly improved students’ learning interest, supported by a significance value (2-tailed) below 0.05 and an effect size of 2.073, categorized as very large. The findings indicate that Mystery Box media offers an engaging and interactive learning experience, encouraging higher student participation and enthusiasm, particularly in IPAS. This strategy is recommended as an innovative alternative to enhance students’ affective involvement in the learning process.

Abstract

Education is essential for a country's progress, including Indonesia. To support the growth of essential student competencies, the Independent Curriculum integrates science and social studies into a unified subject called IPAS. However, observations at SDN Rambutan 03 Pagi revealed that IPAS learning particularly the topic of Earth Plates remains difficult for students to grasp due to conventional and less interactive teaching methods. To tackle this problem, the study seeks to create a website-based learning tool named Tecton Edu, which is developed following the TPACK framework and incorporates the 4C approach (Critical Thinking, Communication, Collaboration, and Creativity). The study employs a Research and Development (R&D) method using the ADDIE model, consisting of five phases: Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and questionnaires, then analyzed using both qualitative and quantitative techniques. The validation results indicated that the media was rated as highly feasible by media experts (87%), material experts (86%), and IT experts (95%). Educators gave a 100% "very feasible" rating, while student responses from small group trials reached 85%, and large group trials 94%, both in the “very feasible” category. Therefore, Tecton Edu is considered highly suitable for use in fifth-grade science learning.
