Abstract

The low public speaking skills among students at SMP Negeri 4 Amarasi Selatan prompted the implementation of public speaking training as a means of developing student skills and character. Observations showed that most students lacked confidence in public speaking and were less active in activities such as inter-school debates and other academic and non-academic activities. This training aimed to increase students' self-confidence and communication skills through the development of soft skills, particularly in public speaking. The training methods included lectures, discussions, simulations, and hands-on practice, conducted over a one-day period at the school. The results showed significant improvements in speaking skills, mastery of material, and effective use of body language. Based on the final evaluation, there was a significant increase in participants' self-confidence and communication skills. This activity had a positive impact on student character development and is recommended for ongoing implementation.

Abstract

The Pangandaran Nature Reserve faces increasing sustainability pressures due to intensified human activities in its surroundings. This Community Service Program (PKM) aims to enhance environmental literacy and conservation participation among students of SMK Negeri 1 Pangandaran as prospective agents of change. A total of 50 participants were involved through a participatory approach combining interactive seminars and hands-on training in organic waste composting. Evaluation results show that all participants are familiar with the Pangandaran Nature Reserve; however, understanding of its ecological and scientific functions remains limited (30%). Field visits and social media serve as the main information sources that enhance learning effectiveness. Most participants have joined conservation activities such as community clean-ups and tree planting, demonstrating positive attitudes toward environmental preservation. The program effectively strengthened understanding and fostered social capital for school-based conservation. An educative and applicative approach emphasizing experiential learning and personal responsibility proves effective in nurturing sustainable awareness of protected areas.

Abstract

Guidance and Counseling (GC) services at SMK Diponegoro Tumpang, Malang, have not been optimally implemented due to the limited number of counselors and the low level of effective communication between students and counselors. Students tend to feel more comfortable sharing their problems with peers rather than with adults. This community service activity aimed to provide peer counseling training, increase student participation in utilizing GC services, and expand the scope of school-based GC services. The implementation method involved 42 students selected through a structured process, consisting of 21 students as prospective peer counselors and 21 students as counselees in the practice stage. The program was conducted in one day through three stages: preparation and selection, implementation, and evaluation. The results revealed three main outcomes, namely increased student participation and enthusiasm toward GC services, the successful implementation of peer counseling in real practice, and a positive impact on the overall function of school GC services. In addition, peer counselors actively supported early identification of students’ problems and fostered an atmosphere of openness within the counseling environment. This peer counseling program received positive responses from the school and is recommended to be sustainably integrated as a complementary approach to GC services in supporting students’ psychosocial development.

Abstract

Solid waste management in Galuga Village is still largely dependent on manual sorting practices, resulting in low sorting efficiency and limited community participation. This community service program aims to support source-level waste segregation through the implementation of an Artificial Intelligence (AI)–based automatic waste sorting system that can be operated independently by the community. The activity was conducted using a Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach, emphasizing active community involvement in the design, utilization, and evaluation of the system. The implementation results indicate that the developed AI system achieved a highest validation accuracy of 93.37%, enabling faster and more consistent waste sorting compared to manual methods. Furthermore, observations and questionnaire results from the initial pilot implementation show improved community understanding and acceptance of waste segregation practices, as well as increased readiness to adopt the system in daily activities. These findings suggest that integrating AI technology with a participatory approach has the potential to enhance the effectiveness of community-based waste management and may be further developed as a sustainable technology empowerment model at the village level.

Abstract

The Sport Science–based Coaching Clinic Program at the Duminanga Village Football School (SSB) was implemented to address key challenges, including low coaching competence, limited training facilities, and weak organizational management, which hinder effective youth football development. This program aimed to enhance coaches’ capacity, athletes’ training quality, and organizational governance through an integrated sport science approach. The program employed a participatory and educational approach, consisting of training sessions, mentoring, and the application of scientifically based training methods tailored to the initial conditions of the SSB. Program effectiveness was evaluated by comparing conditions before and after implementation, focusing on coach competence, athlete performance, and organizational management. The results indicate improvements in coaching quality, athlete motivation and training outcomes, as well as strengthened organizational structures and supporting facilities. Overall, the program proved effective in reinforcing community-based football development and has the potential to be replicated in other football schools with similar characteristics.

Abstract

Huluduotamo Village is developing Lake Perintis as a culture-based educational tourist attraction, but the local toponymic narrative is still predominantly oral, undocumented, and not yet integrated into the visitor experience. The Thematic Community Service Programme (April–June 2025) aims to explore and document the toponymy of Lake Perintis, strengthen the storytelling skills of residents, and provide digital interpretation media to support the preservation of cultural identity. The activities use a participatory-educational approach involving 32 participants (village government, traditional leaders, youth, community, and academics) through initial observation, perception/knowledge surveys, Focus Group Discussions (FGD) for narrative validation, interpretation content production, and dissemination. The programme produced (1) agreed cultural narratives from the FGD, (2) a destination interpretation content package combining historical/toponymic narratives, maps of important points, and visitor ethics, and (3) three QR codes installed at strategic points around the lake. Pre- and post-evaluations of participants showed an increase in understanding of toponymy and the importance of cultural preservation, accompanied by strengthened community participation in maintaining the cleanliness and environment of the destination. The integration of toponymy, storytelling, and QR codes enriches the learning experience of tourists while strengthening local cultural identity, making it a relevant strategy for sustainable educational tourism development in Huluduotamo Village.

Abstract

Limited digital infrastructure and low financial management capacity hinder the development of home-based businesses operated by members of the Independent Single Parent Community (KSPM) in Belendung Village, Tangerang City. Most members did not maintain structured financial records and relied solely on WhatsApp for marketing due to unstable internet access. This community service program aimed to enhance business capacity through the provision of a Gigabit Passive Optical Network (GPON)-based fiber-optic internet connection, digital bookkeeping training, and mentoring in Artificial Intelligence (AI)-assisted marketing. The program was implemented using a participatory empowerment approach, including infrastructure deployment, six training sessions, and post-training mentoring. Evaluation was conducted through questionnaires, observation, and turnover monitoring. The results show that 70% of participants adopted digital bookkeeping practices after the intervention, and the majority demonstrated improved skills in utilizing AI applications to produce more attractive product photos and promotional materials. Economically, 80% of participants reported an average turnover increase of approximately 5%, while 20% experienced an increase of 10% or more. These findings indicate that integrating digital infrastructure support with technology-based capacity building contributes positively to business management and marketing performance among single-parent entrepreneurs.
