Abstract

Abstract

Objective: This study explores the strategy of social media and internet use for anti-tobacco health promotion targeted for adolescent and youth in Asia Method: We performed a literature search of articles in the last 10 years using PubMed with keyword as follows : (social media OR internet) AND (tobacco OR smoking) AND (teen* OR youth OR adolescent OR children OR school age) AND (asia). Critical appraisal was done using PRISMA-P 2015 checklist. Results: A total of 209 articles were screened and 7 studies included, 5 studies focused on social media/internet effectiveness on anti-tobacco promotion and 2 studies focused on the demographic feature. The Effectiveness of social media is shown positively correlated with anti-tobacco knowledge and attitude throughout all 5 studies with various results. Social media and the internet is an effective means as adolescents and youth in Asia tend to use these media rather than a more conventional media for health information, tobacco prevention included. The adolescent and youth are less likely to find anti-tobacco messages in their social media or internet use because these messages tend to be more concentrated in conventional media. In contrast to that, tobacco companies advertising is more commonly found on social media and the internet, therefore its exposure becomes a significant factor in influencing adolescent smoking initiation. Conclusion: Taken together, these evidence show consistent benefit of social media and internet use in promoting anti-tobacco messages among adolescents and youth in Asia. Holistic framework (including family support, smoke free school, etc) to gain tobacco prevention or cessation among adolescents must incorporate social media and internet use for campaigns to raise awareness and attitude. An understanding of the adolescent smoking initiation is compulsory in creating a tailor made message that fits their context.

Abstract

Objective: Mother’s lack of nutrition knowledge is one of the risk factors that cause child malnutrition in Bali. Existing nutrition education program is not sufficient due to a lack of awareness, and the attendance only becomes a formality without understanding information and the desire to apply. This program innovation aims to improve mothers' understanding of the materials delivered, and it is expected that mothers can apply them into daily life. Content: Nutrition education programs have been conducted. Nevertheless, it needs innovations in order to run more effectively. Game-based nutrition education is one of the innovations to make the delivery of education more engaging. "Nutri Emo" is one of the game innovations that combines game methods and demonstrations to increase the interest and attention of mothers in Buleleng Regency to be active and participative when receiving the materials delivered. Each point earned from the game will be replaced by a beam. The beams are arranged and illustrated as child growth. It aims to show the mother that if she nourished the child well, the growth of the child will also be good. At the end of the program, we play the game "Ibu Pintar" to evaluate the mother's understanding of education. This program potentially increases the mother's understanding of the material presented and motivated her to make changes. Meanwhile, attractive program is also needs support from the community leader to be succed. Involving the head of the village's wife is the best option, as they are one of the figure close to the mothers in the village. Advocacy to the Village Head's Wife has great potential for the sustainability of the program. The village head's wife's support for this activity can increase community participation in this education program.

Abstract

Objective: This study examines the food poisoning prevention program through the kitchens of healthy small and medium enterprises in South Timor Tengah Regency. Content: Food poisoning has occurred in most parts of South Timor Tengah Regency during the last two years. The Public Health Office of South Timor Tengah Regency has collaborated with food and drug control agencies, as well as across sectors to prevent expired foodstuffs that are still circulating in the market. This has not stopped the cases of food poisoning because food poisoning also occurs due to the lack of knowledge of food vendors and handlers regarding the requirements for good hygiene and sanitation. Food poisoning prevention can be done by approaching people who have direct contact with the community, namely food vendors and handlers. Initial cooperation was carried out with the village head by sending a letter of cooperation agreement related to the implementation of the program that will be implemented. Then through this letter, the village head and village apparatus are tasked with gathering food vendors and handlers selling in the market to participate in counseling activities and cooking demonstrations. The implementation of this activity will be carried out at the village office every month and the preparation of tools and cooking materials will be prepared by the program implementer. If there are not enough cooking utensils, a collaboration can be made by renting cooking utensils belonging to the community. This program is expected to be able to solve the problem of food poisoning in South Central Timor Regency.

Abstract

Health facilities are the government’s responsibility in Indonesia following the law number 36 of 2009. This aims to improve the highest health status for the public. Herbal alternative medicine is not a new treatment globally, but this plant-based medicine has existed for centuries, including in Indonesia. The habit of drinking herbal medicine to maintain health or cure disease is usually carried out by people in Indonesia, both rural and urban. The purpose of this study was to find out whether it is possible for health insurance in Indonesia to accept alternative herbal treatments in primary care facilities. This study uses qualitative research methods by conducting interviews, observations, and literature studies. Informants in this study were patients who had undergone medical surgery and patients who had consumed and performed alternative herbal treatments: health facility policymakers and doctors. The results showed differences in the acceptance of services for the healers (doctors and therapists). Health communication, in this case, can provide alternative solutions so that the comfort of patients is free to choose who they seek treatment with mild side effects. The patients prefer to go to alternative herbal medicine, not because of the medicine, but because the established communication is very intense and cooperative between the two. So the government health facility regulations should have started reviewing policies so that alternative herbal treatments can be included in government-owned health facilities or health insurance that has received permission from the government.
