Abstract

This community service activity aims to empower women's groups of the Family Welfare Empowerment (PKK) in utilizing cassava (telo) as a valuable food ingredient through training in making steamed caramelized bingka telo. Cassava was chosen because of its high carbohydrate content (~34.7g/100g) and potential for food product diversification. The method used was a participatory practical demonstration (70%) and theory (30%). Participants followed the steps of making bingka cake based on a predetermined local recipe, including the process of making sugar caramel and the steam-baking mechanism. The results of the activity showed an increase in participants' knowledge and skills in processing cassava into new products. The women were able to make caramelized bingka telo with a variety of flavors and attractive decorations. Additional activities such as selecting a product logo and planning a selling price also provided practical entrepreneurial experience. This program successfully increased local food production capacity and awareness of family economic values. With an innovative approach and sustainable support, it is hoped that similar activities can continue to be developed to improve family economies and food security based on local potential.

Abstract

Padukuhan Dayakan II, located in Dayakan Village, Tanjungsari District, Gunung Kidul Regency, Yogyakarta, faces challenges in managing citizen data that is still done manually, causing slow administrative processes and vulnerability to errors. As a solution, students from Universitas Atma Jaya Yogyakarta (UAJY) developed an application based on Flutter and Dart for the digitalization of population data. This application development used the Agile Methodology, which allows for iterative and flexible development according to user needs. The application facilitates the recording, updating, and searching of citizen data, reducing the time it previously took to search for one piece of data from 30 minutes to less than one minute. The application was tested through direct trials by village officials, and training was provided for the chief of the village as partner to ensure the application could be used effectively. The results show that this application significantly improves administrative efficiency, accelerates public services, and enhances data accuracy. This application development is expected to be further developed with additional features to make administrative tasks easier and improve community services.

Abstract

The KKN program implemented in Padukuhan Keruk II aims to improve the quality of street lighting infrastructure through the installation of Public Street Lighting (PJU). The lack of lighting at several strategic points has negatively affected the safety, comfort, and socio-economic activities of the local community. The program involved observing the hamlet’s conditions, determining appropriate locations for street lights, and carrying out the installation process. The implementation of this program included the installation of LED lights at two main locations selected based on community needs. The results show that the presence of PJU not only improves visibility but also reduces the potential for accidents and crime. Furthermore, the activities carried out have the potential to encourage the growth of nighttime economic activities and strengthen social interactions among residents in Padukuhan Keruk II.

Abstract

The growing global population demands increased food productivity, which can be achieved using fertilizers. However, inorganic fertilizers harm the environment and leave chemical residues, making organic and biofertilizers a sustainable alternative. This initiative aims to enhance skills and inclusive learning for students with special needs while increasing economic and educational value, particularly in biofertilizer production at SLB-C Karya Bhakti, Purworejo. Biofertilizers contain beneficial microorganisms that support soil fertility and plant growth by breaking down nutrients, boosting disease resistance, and enhancing plant development. Unlike chemical fertilizers, biofertilizers are environmentally friendly and leave no harmful residues. They are produced using growth media like husks and fermented through solid-state or submerged fermentation methods. Proper packaging, such as vacuum sealing or PET-nylon-PP materials, is essential to maintain microbial viability and quality. At SLB-C Karya Bhakti, biofertilizers support plant growth in the school garden, actively involving students with special needs. Their use enhances food literacy, influences dietary choices, and improves economic conditions within the school. Additionally, this initiative fosters health and social development among students with disabilities, empowering them with valuable agricultural skills for a more inclusive and sustainable future.

Abstract

The community service activity entitled “Training on the Use of Video Conference Platforms for Students of SMP Negeri 6 Palangka Raya” was conducted with the main objective of enhancing students’ digital literacy, particularly in utilizing online learning applications such as Google Meet and Zoom. The identified problem was the students’ limited technical skills in operating these platforms, which could hinder their active participation in both hybrid and online learning. To address this issue, the program was designed as a hands-on training that included the introduction of basic features, simulations of virtual classrooms, and guidance on digital ethics in online interactions. Through this approach, students not only acquired fundamental technical skills but also improved their confidence in participating in online learning and developed a sense of responsibility in using technology. Therefore, this activity provides a tangible contribution to supporting students’ readiness in facing the increasingly digitalized educational landscape

Abstract

The absence of adequate street lighting due to limited access to the national electricity grid (PLN) not only diminishes residents' sense of security and comfort but also increases the risk of crime and accidents, while obstructing social and economic activities. Although Dusun Palintang, located in Cipanjalu Village, Cilengkrang Subdistrict, Bandung Regency, is already connected to the PLN electricity network, several areas remain without proper street lighting, posing safety hazards for the community, particularly at night. This community service project aims to enhance public safety and support nighttime activities by installing energy-efficient and effective solar-powered street lighting. The implementation method consists of four stages: initial observation, fabrication of streetlight poles, installation of solar-powered streetlights, and training sessions for local residents on the operation and maintenance of the lighting system, including how to adjust the lighting modes. The solar-powered streetlights have been successfully installed and are functioning effectively. This initiative has contributed significantly to improving the quality of life for the local community by providing safer and more comfortable conditions for evening activities.

Abstract

Homeschooling in Indonesia is recognized as an alternative form of education that provides flexibility in the learning process. However, many people still lack a clear understanding of its benefits and challenges, particularly in developing children's practical skills. This community service program aims to develop public speaking and digital media literacy skills among children and adolescents through activities implemented by the Piwulang Becix Community in Yogyakarta. The method used is an interactive approach, including audiovisual media training, social media literacy, and public speaking techniques. Children are introduced to various audiovisual technologies, such as green screens and virtual reality, to stimulate their creativity and engagement in learning. The results of this activity indicate an improvement in children's skills in using digital media more critically and responsibly, as well as increased confidence in speaking in public. However, several challenges are still found, especially anxiety when speaking in front of an audience among some participants. Overall, this program provides a more personal, contextual, and applicable learning experience related to digital media and public speaking. It is expected that this training can serve as adequate initial preparation for children to face the challenges of digital media more wisely and effectively in the future.

Abstract

Bojong Village has a vast coconut plantation potential, which has been planned for utilization and preservation, particularly as a tourist attraction. Coconuts, with their benefits from the roots to the leaves, have long been protected and developed by the local community, including as a producer of Virgin Coconut Oil (VCO). The Bojong village community has been producing VCO using a traditional "fishing" method, resulting in low-quality and low-quantity results. The purpose of this community service activity in Bojong village is to assist in improving the quality of VCO using centrifugation technology. A high-quality VCO will increase added value, thereby supporting the economy and community welfare. Training on VCO production using centrifugation technology was conducted with varying centrifugation times and coconut ages. The training resulted in a VCO with quality that meets SNI 2022 standards. The best VCO was obtained from mature coconuts, centrifuged for 45 minutes at a rotation speed of 2000 rpm. This assistance has improved the quality of VCO produced by the community, particularly in supporting the development of a coconut-based tourist village in Bojong.
