Abstract

This study aims to analyze the syntactic structure of compound sentences in online news texts on Kompas.com media. Using qualitative descriptive methods, this study identifies the structure, types, and functions of compound sentences in the news text entitled "Ghifran's Story, MAN 4 Jakarta Student Accepted by 13 Overseas Campuses". The results of the study show a variety of compound sentence structures used, including compound sentences with equivalent relationships of selection and addition, compound sentences with tiered relationships of concession, time, and purpose, and mixed compound sentences. The use of conjunctions such as "which", "or", "for", "and", "although", "since", "during", "that", and "and" plays an important role in connecting clauses logically. Compound sentences function to combine equivalent information, explain logical relationships between information, and build a structured flow of information. The study concludes that the use of compound sentences is not just a variation of sentence structure, but also a linguistic strategy that supports the clarity, completeness, and appeal of news texts in the context of online journalism.

Abstract

This study examines the character of Jose Karosta in the drama script "Mastodon dan Burung Kondor" by W.S. Rendra using a sociology of literature approach. The purpose of this study is to analyze the characteristics of the character of Jose Karosta, identify the social criticism represented through the character, and examine the relationship between the character of Jose Karosta and the socio-political conditions of Indonesia at the time the script was written. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method with content analysis techniques. Data were collected through literature studies with reading and note-taking techniques. The results of the study show that the character of Jose Karosta represents a critique of social inequality, economic imperialism, and structural injustice that occurs in society. Through the character of Jose Karosta, Rendra criticizes the dominance of foreign powers, the exploitation of natural resources, and describes the struggle of the indigenous people in facing the power of neocolonialism. The sociology of literature analysis of the character of Jose Karosta shows that W.S. Rendra uses literature as a medium of resistance against the hegemony of power and to voice the aspirations of the oppressed people. This study concludes that the representation of the character Jose Karosta in "Mastodon dan Burung Kondor" is a reflection of the socio-political conditions of Indonesia during the New Order era and a manifestation of Rendra's critical views on social injustice.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the implementation of differentiated learning in the Indonesian language subject, focusing on nonfiction text material in class XII-7 of SMAN Pakusari. The research employs a descriptive qualitative approach to analyze how differentiated learning strategies respond to diverse student needs, learning styles, and preferences in summarizing nonfiction articles. Data were collected through questionnaires, observations, and documentation. Students were offered three summarizing methods—oral presentation, written summary, and infographic mind map—based on their individual learning preferences. The findings show that most students preferred using infographic mind maps, reflecting a visual learning inclination, followed by oral and written formats. Each method facilitated students in expressing their comprehension effectively, contributing to higher engagement and deeper understanding. The implementation encouraged collaborative learning, improved critical thinking, and empowered students to present ideas in ways that suited their strengths. The study concludes that differentiated instruction significantly enhances student motivation, learning outcomes, and 21st-century skills development. It highlights the teacher’s role as a responsive facilitator who adapts instructional content, processes, and products to accommodate individual student profiles. The research emphasizes the potential of differentiated learning to create inclusive, meaningful, and flexible classroom experiences that align with contemporary educational demands.

Abstract

This study examines the implementation of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model in teaching life values explored through short stories to eleventh-grade students. Employing a descriptive qualitative approach, this research elaborates on how PBL is applied to encourage students to identify and analyze life values in literary works. Data was collected through the analysis of lesson plans (RPP) and student learning reflection sheets, and subsequently analyzed using content analysis techniques. The results of the study indicate that PBL effectively facilitates students to become active, collaborative, and critical learners. Through authentic problem-solving, group discussions, and the enactment of short story scenes, students not only identify life values but also develop a deeper and more relevant understanding in relation to their personal experiences. These findings imply that PBL is a potential alternative to replace conventional teacher-centered learning models in literature education, and contributes to the development of innovative learning models for instilling character values.

Abstract

This literature review explores the effectiveness of the peer support approach in improving the speaking skills of children with special needs (CWSN) in inclusive school settings. Communication barriers often hinder the academic and social development of CWSN, especially in verbal interactions. Peer support, rooted in social learning theory and the zone of proximal development, provides a natural and empathetic learning environment through structured interaction with peers. The findings of this study indicate that various models—such as peer tutoring, peer buddy systems, and peer-mediated instruction—significantly enhance verbal engagement, vocabulary acquisition, and social participation among CWSN. In addition to improving linguistic abilities, peer support also contributes to emotional security, reduces anxiety, and fosters a sense of belonging. Despite some implementation challenges, such as lack of training and institutional support, the peer support strategy proves to be a powerful tool in promoting inclusive and equitable education. This paper highlights best practices and offers practical implications for integrating peer support as a sustainable component of inclusive classroom pedagogy.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the form and use of kinship greeting terms in Sundanese and Indonesian through the contrastive analysis method. The methodology used is a qualitative approach with data collection techniques using interviews with two informants from Pandeglang Regency, coupled with a literature review from various written sources. The findings of this study indicate that although both languages have a similar kinship framework, there are significant differences in aspects of greeting forms, social functions, and contexts of use. Sundanese has a higher complexity, is hierarchical, and is highly dependent on context, taking into account elements of age, emotional ties, and social status. Meanwhile, Indonesian applies a more neutral, formal, and uniform greeting system. The study also found changes in the use of traditional greeting terms among the younger generation, caused by the influence of formal education, mass media, and advances in digital communication. This study emphasizes that differences in greeting systems not only reflect the structure of the language, but also reflect the cultural values that underlie social interaction in society. These findings have important implications for the fields of language education, preservation of cultural heritage, and intercultural communication in Indonesia.
