Abstract

Islamic finance, grounded in Shariah principles and ethical guidelines, has emerged as a pivotal tool for socioeconomic development. Waqf, an Islamic endowment, holds significant potential to address social welfare and economic challenges. This study proposes a framework for establishing an Islamic Waqf Bank in Nigeria to drive economic growth and financial inclusion. The framework integrates the ethical principles of Waqf with modern financial practices, aiming to foster poverty alleviation, education, healthcare, and infrastructure development. Key components include a robust governance structure to ensure transparency and accountability, innovative financial products aligned with Waqf principles, and strategic focus on projects yielding sustainable community benefits. The paper also examines legal and regulatory requirements, ensuring compliance with Shariah jurisprudence and national banking laws. Challenges such as limited awareness, regulatory hurdles, and cultural misconceptions are identified, alongside mitigation strategies to enhance feasibility and sustainability. By leveraging Nigeria's socioeconomic landscape, the proposed Islamic Waqf Bank framework offers a transformative model for addressing pressing economic needs while adhering to Islamic financial ethics

Through an analysis of the work values dimensions, this study aims to identify the career preference of generation Z. The respondens in this study were 102 generation Z students at Putra Bangsa University, Indonesia. Data was obtained by distributing questionnaires and then analyzed with descriptive statistics via SPSS. The results show that the majority of generation Z students prefer to work at State-Owned Enterprises or Badan Usaha Milik Negara (BUMN) rather than being civil servants when they graduate from university. The work values believed by the group who want to work in BUMN and the group who want to become civil servants are explained in the results of this study. Abstract

This research examines the implementation of artificial intelligence (AI) in HRM functions like recruitment, training, and performance management. It suggests that AI can improve recruitment processes, enhance training and development programs, and optimize performance management by providing more accurate feedback. However, it also highlights challenges such as data privacy and security concerns, job displacement, and the need for human oversight and accountability. The paper discusses the implications for the workforce, organizations, and society and suggests future research to address these issues, ensure human oversight, address social and economic inequalities, develop more effective AI training and development programs, and develop more effective AI governance frameworks. The paper concludes that AI has the potential to impact the future of work in HRM practices significantly, but its implementation must be subject to responsible and ethical governance and regulation to maximize its benefits and mitigate its negative impacts.

Abstract

Financial distress is recognized as the preliminary phase of bankruptcy, resulting from numerous financial and non-financial factors. This study aims to assess the effect of liquidity, profitability, operating cash flow as financial ratios, also managerial and institutional ownership as ownership structure on financial distress. This study use real estate and property companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) in the period 2018-2021 as the population. From a total of 80 companies, 28 were selected as the sample for this study using a purposive sampling method that applies several specific criteria. The data were processed using SPSS version 25 with a quantitative approach through multiple linear regression analysis techniques. Since the classical assumption test results of this research do not meet the requirements, the data are modified using log-modulus transformation. The results show that liquidity, profitability, and operating cash flow variables affect financial distress. Moreover, managerial ownership and institutional ownership do not affect financial distress. The results of this study suggest that management should be able to maintain financial performance efficiently to avoid financial distress.
