Abstract

Malaysia's population, estimated at 33.7 million in 2023, continues to grow with an annual population growth rate of 0.2 per cent, thus increasing the need for robust food security measures. Despite this, the country struggles with self-sufficiency in basic food production, heavily relying on imports, which resulted in a food trade deficit increased to RM31 billion in 2022 compared to RM25 billion deficit in 2021. Conversely, waqf, an Islamic endowment, presents a unique opportunity for wealth distribution and societal benefit. However, current governance practices in waqf institutions suffer from inadequate management, transparency, and skilled human resources, resulting in the proliferation of idle waqf lands. If effectively strategized, these lands could be optimally utilized for national food security initiatives in Malaysia. This study aims to explore successful global best practices in maximizing waqf land for food security. Examples are including legal reforms to harmonize the regulatory framework governing waqf properties, adopting more flexible and innovative financial models such as PPPs, cash waqf and corporate waqf, through community involvement, using of modern technology and innovative farming techniques such as Geographic Information Systems (GIS), blockchain, and precision agriculture, and so on. The research adopts a qualitative approach, analyzing primary and secondary materials through governing statutes, reported cases, semi-structured interviews, and data from respective administrative bodies. Aligning with national policies like the Shared Prosperity Vision 2030 and the National Agrofood Policy 2.0, this study aims to provide best practices and lessons learned, as well as recommendations for legal frameworks, strategies, policies, and guidelines to enhance sustainable agriculture and community welfare. The ultimate goal is to ensure a secure and sustainable food supply in Malaysia

Abstract

This review aims to examine in depth what factors influence Generation Z's online purchase intention. In addition, the author also examines the online shopping research framework model as a reference to be developed in further research. The author collects the results of previous studies regarding online purchase intentions for 10 years (2011 – 2021) from various international journal sources. Based on the results of previous studies, the research model framework uses TAM (Technology Acceptence Model) variables, trust, social factors, security, and website quality. The main finding in previous research shows that the security factor greatly determines a person's online purchase intention. The security factor here is not just a product guarantee to consumers, but also about consumer data that is not easily hacked by irresponsible parties. The convenience of the payment system also influences online purchase intentions. In addition, utilitarian and hedonic motives encourage individuals to make online purchases. The utilitarian motive is concerned with consumer needs, while the hedonic motive emphasizes pleasure.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the perceptions of people living in mining areas regarding the impacts of sand and stone mining activities on the Progo River, Yogyakarta. This research uses a qualitative type with a case study method. Primary data collection was carried out by interviews as well as observations and supporting documents or literature for secondary data. Sand and stone mining activities in the Progo River using heavy equipment by individuals and companies under the pretext of normalizing river flow after the eruption of Mount Merapi based on Decree Number 284 of 2011. This regulation has been misunderstood by various parties, which has given rise to uncontrolled sand mining. One example of mining that caused community rejection occurred in Sendangagung Village, especially the Jomboran, Pundak Wetan and Wiyu areas of Yogyakarta. Researchers found that the community rejected mining because the community had the perception that mining companies took it with heavy equipment without paying attention to the preservation of the land and the environment, which resulted in land degradation, landslides, air pollution and water pollution. Apart from that, the community questions the legitimacy of the government in issuing non-transparent mining permits.

Abstract

Differences in interest in decision making are one of the things that must be facilitated in decision support applications. The most basic difference of interest in decision making is the difference in the weight of the importance of each criterion used. Each decision maker has their own interest in the criteria used. If these differences can be facilitated properly, the resulting decision recommendations can be optimal, in this case more in line with the interests of the users. The model is designed using the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) and Simple Additive Weight (SAW) methods, using 5 criteria. The final result of the AHP method is in the form of criteria weights that are in accordance with the interests of decision makers and in accordance with the consistency of the comparisons that have been given. The resulting weight will be used in the final calculation of SAW, namely in the calculation of alternative weights. By using AHP, the weight of the criteria becomes more subjective according to the interests of decision makers. Thus, the resulting alternative recommendations become more optimal because they are in accordance with the needs of decision makers.
