Abstract

Background:  Stunting is a growth disorder in children caused by chronic malnutrition, so that children have a height shorter than the standard for their age. The impact of stunting is on children's growth and development, both cognitively and physically. Fulfillment of nutritional intake in toddlers is fully managed by the family, therefore the family has an important role in caring for and nurturing toddlers during the child's growth and development. Purpose: To analyze the relationship between family roles and stunting incidence. Methods: This study uses an observational analytical research design with a cross-sectional approach, the study population is parents and toddlers as many as 182 respondents with a sample size of 125 respondents taken using a simple random sampling technique. The research instrument uses Microtoice to measure the height of toddlers and a family role questionnaire. Results: Based on the results of statistical tests using chi square, the results obtained were a p value of 0.013 (p <0.05), which shows that there is a relationship between family roles and the incidence of stunting in toddlers. Conclusion: There is a significant difference in the level of difficulty of social relations between students based on the level of the diploma program in nursing at Poltekkes Kemenkes Aceh, which shows that the level of education is related to students' social adaptation abilities.

Abstract

Background: Sectio caesarea is a major surgical procedure that generally causes postoperative pain, so it can interfere with the physical and psychological recovery process of the mother, including in terms of initiation and smooth production of breast milk (ASI). In addition, the effects of the pain caused can cause sleep disorders in patients. Non-pharmacological therapy is needed to overcome these problems. Purpose: To determine the impact of applying foot reflexology on pain intensity, sleep quality and breast milk production in post-cesarean section patients. Methods: This type of research is descriptive through a case study approach involving 3 respondents who are post-cesarean section patients. The research instrument uses the PSQI (Pitsburgh Sleep Quality Index) questionnaire to assess sleep quality and VRS (Verbal Rating Scale) to assess pain levels. The intervention of foot reflexology application was carried out for 3 days. Results: After being applied to respondents, the results showed that there was a decrease in the pain scale from an average scale of 2.66 to 1.33, there was an increase in sleep quality as indicated by a score of 12 (bad) to a score of 9 (good), and there was an increase in breast milk production from patients who were unable to produce breast milk to those who were able to produce breast milk with an average production of 47 ml. Conclusion: The application of foot reflexology can reduce pain intensity, improve sleep quality and breast milk production in post-caesarean section patients.

Abstract

Background: Elderly people with chronic illnesses, such as hypertension, accompanied by anxiety disorders, tend to experience a reduced quality of life. This combination of physical illness and mental health issues can lead to impaired interpersonal relationships, disorientation from reality, and decreased productivity, ultimately negatively impacting their quality of life.. Purpose: To determine the relationship between anxiety levels and the quality of life of elderly people with hypertension in the Sokaraja II Community Health Center Working Area, Banyumas Regency. Methods: This research is a quantitative study with a correlational design and a cross-sectional approach. The study location covers four villages within the working area of Sokaraja II Community Health Center, Banyumas Regency. The population consisted of 470 elderly people with a history of hypertension, with a sample of 82 elderly people selected using a proportionate stratified random sampling technique. The instruments used in this study consisted of two standardized questionnaires: the Geriatric Anxiety Scale (GAS) to measure anxiety levels and the WHO Quality of Life -BREF (WHOQOL-BREF) to measure quality of life. Results: Based on the research results, the significance value of p value <0.05 with a correlation coefficient value of r = -605. The Spearman Rank test results show a p value of 0.000 where the value is <0.05, which means that there is a relationship between the level of anxiety and the quality of life of elderly people with hypertension. Conclusion: There is a negative correlation between anxiety levels and quality of life in elderly people with hypertension. The higher the anxiety level, the lower the quality of life in elderly people with hypertension.

Abstract

Background: Adherence to the recommended dietary patterns for individuals with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM) is a major challenge in effectively managing the disease. One reason is the varying levels of knowledge among T2DM patients regarding appropriate dietary patterns. Limited knowledge makes it difficult for patients to understand appropriate eating patterns, impacting the effectiveness of diet management. As an educational digital media, the Embodied Conversational Agent (ECA) has proven effective in improving patient knowledge and adherence to T2DM management. Purpose: Developing and evaluating the feasibility of peunajoh.id as an ECA-based application designed to strengthen knowledge of the DMT2 diet. Methods: This study used a Research and Development (R&D) design with the Borg & Gall development model. Validation was conducted by 3 material experts and 3 media experts, followed by an initial trial on 15 T2DM patients in the prolanis community to assess the content's understandability and ease of use of the application, and an operational test on 45 T2DM outpatients to test the effectiveness of the widespread use of ECA media in a regional hospital. Data were analyzed using the Content Validity Index (CVI) to assess the appropriateness of the content and the percentage of user satisfaction with the use of ECA media in dietary education for T2DM patients. Results: Expert validation yielded an average I-CVI of 0.88 (material) and 0.83 (media). The results exceeded the ideal feasibility limit of ≥ 0.78, indicating that the material and media display had high relevance. Operational test results showed an average user satisfaction of 92%, with aspects of ease of navigation at 33.7%, ease of application use at 33.3%, and interaction with virtual agents at 33%. Conclusion: Peunajoh.id is an interesting application and is suitable for use as a diet education digital media for T2DM patients through the results of an average user satisfaction level reaching 92%.

Abstract

Background: Neurological dysfunction, which leads to stroke, is the third leading cause of disability worldwide. Stroke-related conditions, such as paralysis of the extremities, are particularly stressful for the elderly. Feelings of helplessness, depression, and low self-esteem are common. This is because they feel like a burden on their families and are ashamed to burden their children. Purpose: Exploring the experience of depression and low self-esteem in older adults who have experienced stroke. Methods: This study used a qualitative method with a phenomenological approach. Seven elderly stroke patients experiencing psychosocial problems and requiring full family support were participants. The sample size was determined using purposive sampling. Participants were selected based on inclusion criteria, including being diagnosed with stroke for more than three years, being able to communicate, and experiencing psychosocial problems. The research used Interpretative Phenomenology Analysis (IPA) as the data analysis technique. Results: Based on the research results, 3 themes were obtained, namely 1. Feeling like a burden on the family (Living with stroke was felt by participants as a burden for the family), Theme 2: Feeling limited in doing something (All participants considered themselves unable to do physical activities freely) and Theme 3: Experiencing low self-esteem. (The elderly with stroke felt that they were no longer productive, could only depend on their families and experienced feelings of helplessness and worthlessness). Conclusion: Elderly stroke survivors tend to experience psychological disorders characterized by depression, such as sadness, anger, disappointment, feelings of helplessness, and feeling like a burden on their families. Furthermore, socially, they also tend to have low self-esteem, as evidenced by feelings of being restricted and incapable of engaging in social activities.

Abstract

Background: Over the past five years, the proportion of the elderly population in Indonesia has continued to increase to 12%. The government's efforts to support the health of seniors with chronic diseases include the PROLANIS (Chronic Disease Management Program), which includes structured Exercise Movements to help participants maintain their physical condition and manage their illnesses. As older adults age, they experience a decline in bodily functions, which can impact physical activity limitations, including exercise. Purpose: To determine the ability of the elderly to carry out PROLANIS exercises at Puskesmas Sibela Surakarta. Methods: This research is a quantitative study using descriptive methods. The study population was all PROLANIS participants, with a sample of 46 respondents selected based on inclusion criteria: participants registered with PROLANIS program at Puskesmas Sibela Surakarta and participating in exercise movements activities twice a month for 20 minutes. The instrument used was an observation sheet containing the ability of elderly people to participate in exercise movements. Results: All elderly people routinely do PROLANIS exercises twice a month and the majority of elderly people are able to participate in the exercise movements as a whole, namely 41 people (89.1%) in the first and second meetings. Conclusion: The majority of elderly PROLANIS participants at Puskesmas Sibela Surakarta were able to complete the entire exercise movements routine at both sessions. This demonstrates that PROLANIS exercise movements can be successfully performed by elderly individuals despite the decline in bodily functions due to aging.

Abstract

Background: End-Stage Renal Disease (ESRD) is a chronic disease that has a significant impact on patients' physical, psychological, and social functioning. While hemodialysis therapy prolongs life expectancy, it also places a significant physical and emotional burden. This condition can reduce their quality of life. Implementing good self-management behaviors, such as adherence to therapy, dietary adjustments, and emotional management, can help patients adapt and improve their well-being. Purpose: To identify the relationship between self-management and quality of life in ESRD patients undergoing hemodialysis in Surakarta. Methods: This study was a quantitative study with a cross-sectional design. The population consisted of 150 patients undergoing HD, and the sampling technique used convenience sampling with a sample size of 80 people. Inclusion criteria included patients undergoing HD for at least 6 months. The instrument used to measure self-management was the HemoDialysis Self-Management Instrument (HDSMI), while quality of life was measured using the Kidney Disease Quality of Life Short Form (KDQOL SF-36). The relationship between the two variables was analyzed using the Chi-square test. Results: This study found a significant positive relationship between self-management and quality of life in hemodialysis patients (p = 0.000; p < 0.05). Patients with good self-management skills tended to demonstrate higher levels of physical and psychological well-being. Conclusion: Improved self-management is positively associated with a higher quality of life in patients with end-stage renal disease undergoing hemodialysis. Therefore, nursing interventions should focus on strengthening self-management skills through health education and ongoing psychosocial support.
