Abstract

The handling of the deceased is one of the obligatory acts of worship classified as a fardhu kifayah. Not all Muslims possess the skills to wash, shroud, and perform the funeral prayer for the deceased; typically, these duties are entrusted to those who are experts and accustomed to performing them. However, it is also important for every Muslim to know and understand these religious laws, at least for the purpose of handling the funeral of close relatives. To provide insight to those who have not yet mastered this knowledge, a training session was conducted involving the Majelis Taklim in Kanagarian Koto Tangah, Tilatang Kamang Subdistrict, Agam Regency. This was done in anticipation of a shortage of funeral organizers in the area. Several studies indicate that community service programs based on Majelis Taklim, focusing on funeral arrangements, remain limited. This initiative aims to enrich existing efforts while addressing a different subject area. The methodology employs a Participatory Action Research approach, utilizing lectures and demonstrations. In this community service project, two major patterns were identified: the importance of strengthening literacy and the need for demonstrations aimed at fostering habitual practices in a religious activity that is often performed on an ad hoc basis. The training on funeral arrangements for the Majelis Taklim in Koto Tangah Village has resulted in a task force that is on standby at all times to provide services to families experiencing bereavement

Abstract

This community service program was conducted in Nagari Situmbuk, Tanah Datar Regency, an area with strong potential in community-based education, village tourism, and UMKM development. However, these potentials had not been fully realized due to limited youth capacity to conduct interactive English learning activities and the continued conventional use of digital media for tourism and UMKM promotion. This program aimed to strengthen youth capacity through integrated training in interactive English teaching, digital marketing, and basic cinematography to promote creative villages. The program employed a participatory approach involving the COIV youth community, UMKM actors, and village stakeholders. Its implementation consisted of four main stages: needs analysis, training workshops, field mentoring, and participatory evaluation. The program involved 20 participants, consisting of youths and UMKM actors. The results show that participants improved their capacity to conduct communicative and contextual English-learning activities, gained practical understanding of social-media-based promotion for local products, and produced simple promotional videos highlighting the cultural and natural potential of Nagari Situmbuk. The program also encouraged the emergence of local youth cadres capable of sustaining English-learning initiatives and supporting village promotion efforts. These findings suggest that integrating pedagogical, digital, and creative media training can serve as a practical model for strengthening youth-led village empowerment.

Abstract

One of the benchmarks of 21st century learning success is the use of technology. Therefore, teachers should master the skills necessary to achieve such success. This assistance aims to identify existing problems and offer practical solutions that can be applied by teachers in West Pasaman that are compiled collectively. In this regard, the method used in this assistance is the Community-based Research (CBR) method which allows for cooperation between the service (researcher) and the community in carrying out each stage. The assisted community is a deliberation or Arabic teacher association which will be a model for the development of learning literacy, because it is considered to have the potential for the development of skills and literacy in the 21st century. The collected data was analyzed using Miles and Huberman techniques, namely data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawn. The results of the mentoring showed that the main problems of teachers were educational background, competence, literacy, lack of motivation, workload, family conditions, lack of collaboration, no opportunity to participate in training, limited information, and limited class hours. The activities to overcome these problems are holding digital literacy training and workshops, followed by project-based learning, developing a curriculum that inserts 21st century skills, using collaborative platforms, such as Google Classroom, Padlet, and so on, and carrying out skills-based evaluations.

Abstract

Bullying in elementary schools is a serious problem that impacts children's psychological and social development. The community service activity packaged under the title "My School is Safe and Free from Bullying" at SDN Lenteng Agung, Jagakarsa, South Jakarta aims to increase students' understanding and courage in recognizing and preventing bullying behavior. The background of this program is based on the high rate of physical, verbal, relational, and cyber bullying among elementary school students in Indonesia, accompanied by a low level of children's understanding and minimal reporting actions. This campaign was designed with a social marketing approach through material delivery, interactive three pile sorting games, and pre-test and post-test evaluations, so that students can understand the forms and impacts of bullying, how to prevent it, and the importance of reporting. The campaign implementation emphasized the use of simple language and participatory activities to suit the characteristics of elementary school students. A total of 29 students participated in the activity. The results showed an increase in understanding, especially in identifying verbal bullying and cyberbullying. In addition, all students (100%) in the post-test expressed the courage to reprimand the perpetrator and report it to the teacher. These findings indicate that a social campaign based on a participatory approach is effective in increasing anti-bullying literacy while strengthening students' proactive attitudes in creating a safe school environment.

Abstract

This community service activity aimed to increase the understanding of business owners and employees regarding employee empowerment and employee engagement, as well as to strengthen employee participation in supporting business development. The activity was conducted at Azizah Crackers MSME in Indarung, Lubuk Kilangan District, Padang City. The main issues identified were the limited involvement of employees in business development activities and their lack of understanding of the strategic role of human resources in organizational sustainability. The program was implemented through preparation, lectures, discussions, question-and-answer sessions, and mentoring activities. The outcomes of the activity were evaluated through direct observation and participant responses during the implementation process. The findings showed that participants actively engaged in discussions, shared experiences related to workplace challenges, and demonstrated a better understanding of employee empowerment and employee engagement concepts. The activity also facilitated more open communication between the business owner and employees regarding their roles and contributions to business development. These findings suggest that empowerment-based socialization activities can serve as an initial step in fostering employee participation, collaboration, and awareness of the importance of human resources in supporting MSME sustainability and competitiveness.

Abstract

The Darrius-Savonius combination wind turbine is often chosen to power streetlights in coastal areas. In this community partnership program (PKM), the primary function of the wind turbine, which is a renewable energy power generator, is slightly shifted to serve as an icon of marine tourism and culinary in the coastal city of Medan, especially in the Medan Belawan sub-district. The main objective of this program is to increase revenue from marine tourism and culinary spots through culinary icons. The culinary icon offered to the community is a wind generator that can operate at low wind speeds, ranging from ~1.5 m/s to a maximum of 45 m/s, which is well-suited for installation in Belawan, near the public pier of the Titi Panjang Bridge. Through this activity, which applies the technology-as-a-service model, the public pier will be illuminated with decorative lights powered by electricity from the wind turbine installed near the community restaurant. The process of selecting the location and type of wind turbine is explained using the decision matrix method. The subject of this program is the Marine Cafe, which is one of the restaurants on the edge of the Titi Panjang Bridge. The construction of wind turbines and their benefits for PkM partners are presented, based on sales data showing a 15-20% revenue increase, which provides an opportunity to increase revenue and develop the PkM partner business in the long term.
