Abstract

This research paper aims to know whether there is a significant effect of greeting card media toward students writing skill at eighth grade students’ of MTs Daarul ‘Ulum Cihara lebak in academic year 2021/2022. This research paper uses a quantitative approach and a quasi-experimental design. The sample selection technique is cluster random sampling; The researcher used class VIII A (25 students) as the experimental class and class VIII B (25 students) as the control class. In the data collection technique, the researcher gave a pre-test and post-test. In analyzing the data, the researcher used SPSS 25 statistical calculations and used the post-test results of both the control and experimental classes to analyze the hypothesis test. The researcher found that output SPSS on tablel 4.8. It could bel seleln that signification valuel (p-valuel) = 0.001 at pair 1 and 0.001 at pair 2. Thely arel < α = 0.05, melanwhilel H1 is accelpteld and HO is reljelcteld Therefore, the researcher concludes that there is a significant effect of greeting card media on students' writing skills.

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to find out the emperical evidence of The Effect of Using Duolingo Application Toward Students’ Vocabulary Mastery at The Eighth Grade of SMPN 2 Banjarsari Lebak-Banten In Acaddemic Year 2021/2022. In this research, the quantitative methode was used and the research design was a quasi-experimental. To conduct the research, 76 students of eighth grade student of SMPN 2 Banjarsari Lebak academic year of 2021/2022 are choosen as the sample in this research. They were VIII A class as the experimental class, and VIII B class as the control class. Each class consisted of 25 students. This number was taken as the sample of this research by using Mr.Excel and SPSS 25. Duolingo application was used as an instrument in the experimental class while the control class uses the Hello English Application. Based on the calculation, the post-test mean scores of the experimental class was 70.12 while that of the control class was 59.36. The researcher got the result from testing with SPSS 25 t-test obtained the t-count =6.301in control class and signification value (p-value)=0.000 < a =0.05, and with t-test obtained the t-count= 6.463 in experimental class and significant value (p-value) =0.000 < a = 0.05 Ha is accepted and Ho is rejected. The result indicated that using Duolingo is effect towards students’ vocabulary mastery and had a moderate effect at the eighth grade of students SMPN 2 Banjarsari Lebak in the acaddemic year of 2021/2022.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the Scrabble game on the vocabulary mastery of class VIII students at Mts Daarul' Ulum Cihara Lebak. This research was conducted at the Daarul'Ulum Cihara school. The population of this study were students of class VIII Mts Darul Ulum Cihara which consisted of two parallel classes. They are class VIII A & VIII B. Each class consists of 25 students. This means that the total population of 50 students is taken as a sample. The data was obtained by giving the text to the students in the experimental and control groups. The data in this study were processed using Microsoft Excel and SPSS 25. The data was analyzed using the t-test formula. This analysis showed that t-count (-24.515) and two-sided significant = 0.000 <0.05. Therefore, the researcher concluded that the scramble game had a significant effect on students' mastery of English vocabulary.

Abstract

This research paper aims to know whether there is a significant effect of Padlet application towards students’ writing skill of Recount text at the Tenth Grade of SMAN 1 Malingping Lebak-Banten in Academic Year 2021/2022. The research paper used the quantitative approach and quasi-experimental design. The technique in choosing the sample is cluster random sampling; the researcher used 10 IPA 4 (32 students) as class control and 10 IPA 2 (32 students) as class experimental. In the Collecting data technique, the researcher gives pre-test and post-test. In analyzing the data, the researcher used SPSS 22 statistical computation and used the result of the post-test both class control and experimental to analyze the hypotheses test. The researcher has found the result t count (-3.295) and Significant two-tailed = 0.002 < α 0.05. Therefore, the researcher concluded that the Padlet application has a good effect on Students' Writing Skills

Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has led to a rapid increase in the use of social media. With the increasing use of the internet, it is becoming easier to access information in multiple languages, especially English. This study wanted to see that the increasing frequency of playing social media was proportional to its usefulness in helping participants improve their English skills. This study aims to describe how important social media is to help participants' English language skills. This study uses a qualitative descriptive approach to describe a phenomenon related to the problem. The participants were 20 people as a random sample who were social media users from a population called netizens. The results of the study reveal that the use of social media as a tool to develop English skills is known to have little effect on active skills which are writing and speaking, but has a small impact on passive skills which are reading and listening.

Abstract

Writing ability is very important for every student in learning English. Many students have difficulty in the writing process. Based on the 2013 curriculum, which emphasizes collaborative and student-oriented learning where students can develop their thinking and knowledge skills by themselves. Based on the 2013 curriculum, there are four recommended learning models to be applied in learning English, one of which is Problem Based Learning. Problem based learning is the right model to solve students' problems in writing, especially in writing procedure text. This research is a qualitative research with a descriptive case study research design. This study aims to investigate the implementation of Problem Based Learning in teaching writing procedure text and to investigate students' responses to teaching writing procedure text through Problem Based Learning. In this study, the subjects used were 21 twelfth graders. This study uses observation and interviews in data collection and research instruments. This study conducted observations for two meetings and conducted interviews with four students. Data were analyzed using thematic analysis. The result of this research is that the teacher implements Problem Based Learning in accordance with the existing stages. Another result is that students have a positive response to the implementation of Problem Based Learning, including Problem Based Learning (PBL) makes students feel comfortable, not bored, and having difficulties, Problem Based Learning (PBL) makes students more active, Problem Based Learning helps in developing students' thinking skills, and Problem Based Learning (PBL) helps students to write procedure text. Problem Based Learning model can be implemented in teaching writing procedure text. Problem-Based Learning as a learning model, able to motivate students to contribute to the learning process in class and able to invite students' interest in writing.

Abstract

The aims of this research is to analyze students’ writing skill in recount text based on content, organization, grammar, and mechanism in writing recount text at the class X MIPA 2 of SMAN 1 Panggarangan Lebak-Banten. Students' skills in writing recount text entered the excellent category. which, if explained in more detail, four students (40%) got a score of 80-100 (excellent), three students (30%) got a score of 60-69 (poor), two sudents (20%) got a score of 70-79 (good averange), and one student (10%) got a score of 25 – 59 (very poor). The results of the analysis of several aspect, namely content, organization, grammar, and mechanics, showed that students mistakes in writing recount texts were dominated by the grammar aspect where (60%) students were wrong in grammar placement, it was triggered by a lack of knowledge about the grammar used in recount text. Based on the results of interviews, most of them difficulties in writing recount text are caused by difficulties in finding ideas, difficulties in grammatical placement, difficulties in arranging the sentences in paragraphs because the ideas for writing are very limited, hard to compile words in sentences to be a paragraphs, and lack of vocabulary makes it difficult for students to write recount text.

Abstract

This research paper aim to investigate the effect of picture series towards students’ writing skill in recount text at the eighth grade students’ of SMPN 6 Malingping Lebak Banten in academic year 2021/2022. The method used in this research was quantitative method. The design of this research was quasi-experimental design and cluster random sampling: the researcher used VIII A (20 students) as class experimental and VIII B (20 students) as class control. In the collecting data technique, the researcher used pre-test and post-test. The analysis data used to test research hypotheses using SPSS 25.0 is test of paired samples test. The results of the research concluded that there are a significant effect of picture series towards students’ writing skill in recount text with a significant value (p-value) = 0.000. They are < α = 0.05. The results of the research indicate that the hypotheses is accepted. According to the criteria of the test, it could be concluded that there was was progress in the effect of picture series towards students’ writing skill in recount text at the eighth grade students’ SMPN 6 Malingping Lebak Banten was effective

Abstract

The research paper aims to know whether the use of Memrise Application gives a significant effect towards students’ vocabulary mastery at the Eight grade student’ of MTs Mathla’ul Anwar or not. The research paper uses the quantitative research design with the characteristics of experimental method that is design into two classes. They are the experimental and the control class. The population of this research consists of 71 students and the sample of this research is VIII A as experimental class consists 22 Students and VIII B as control class consists 22 students. Total of sample is 44 students. The instrument is a test and data of this research are collected by giving the per-test and post-test. The data is analyzed using statistical of program SPSS 22 including mean, standard deviation, and t-test. It could be seen from the result of the post-test of experimental and control class. Based on the result of data analysis and interpretation of the research. It is clear there is significant effect of Memrise application towards students’ vocabulary mastery at the eighth-grade students’ of MTs Mathla’ul Anwar Malingping. It can be seen the minimum score of pre-tests of experimental class is 44, maximum 88, mean 61.91 and standard deviation 11.880, while the minimum score of post-tests of experimental class is 52, maximum 92, mean 72.82 and standard deviation 12.010. Furthermore, the minimum score of pre-tests of control class is 36, maximum 76, mean 58.73 and standard deviation 9.731, while the minimum score of post-tests of control class is 40, maximum 80, mean 64.64 and standard deviation 9.469. The result of t-test obtained sig. value 0.000 ≤ α = 0.05. Ha is accepted and Ho is rejected. It can be concluded that there is significant effect of Memrise application towards student’s vocabulary mastery.

Abstract

Simple present tense is one of the most complex tense in English. Because of the different pattern between the students’ mother tongue and English as the target language, students often make errors in producing sentences. The objective of the research is to find out what type of error which mostly appears when students use Simple Present Tense in descriptive writing. This research is a descriptive qualitative research combined with error analysis methodology using Surface Strategy Taxonomy. The research participants were 50 students of Bina Sarana Informatika University majoring Management. The result of the research showed that the most common errors made by students were misformation errors which happened as much as 54%. The second most common errors which appear in students’ descriptive writing were omission errors as much as 24% which number was not much different with addition errors as much as 20%. The least type of error found in students’ descriptive writing was misordering error as much as 2%.
