Abstract

The community service program for the mandatory lecturer scheme in 2021, Universitas Sumatera Utara, is foc Integrasi Agroforestri dan Sistem Budidaya Lebah Madu (Trigona Sp.) dalam Penguatan Food Estate di Humbang Hasundutan.  used at the food estate location, Humbang Hasundutan Regency. The purpose of this community service program is to develop a group of forest communities around the location of the food estate that are economically independent through the skills of honey bee cultivation of Trigona sp. in strengthening food at food estate locations. This program integrates forestry, agricultural, and honey bees Trigona sp. to form an interrelated cultivation system for the sustainability of ecological, economic, and social aspects. This program is carried out in the form of assistance in providing honey bee sires Trigona sp. and training in honey bee cultivation management. This program is expected to be able to have a positive impact on the community of food estate farmer groups as a companion business in managing food estates based on agricultural commodities.

Abstract

Guidance for community groups around the Unhas Education Forest needs to be carried out to encourage increased public awareness about the importance of preserving the forest without losing its benefits of the forest. Furthermore, the community can use the number of visits, both individually and in groups, to the Unhas educational forest for various purposes as a market opportunity to increase income. One of the commodities cultivated by the local community is the oyster mushroom (Pleurotus ostreatus). Overall, this community service activity is carried out through a series of activities, including lectures, focus group discussions, training and demonstrations, and workshops. This activity is expected to make the community feel the benefits of the forest and play an active role in conserving the forest. In addition, it can improve the welfare of the people living around the forest. The activity results showed that after participating in the training, 75 per cent of the participants were able to explain the stages of mushroom cultivation.

Abstract

The Permata Hijau Banjarbaru Family Welfare Empowerment Group is an activity partner who carries out various activities in their daily life. Consuming foods that contain high antioxidants is very important in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. The use of natural materials found around our environment is asolution for improving the health of the community, one of which is plants that have antioxidant capacity. Partners do not have the knowledge and technology about antioxidant plants and their proper and targeted utilization methods. The purpose of the service was to train PKK members in making antioxidanttea by utilizing yard plant materials. The solutions offered in answering partner problems were through 4 stages, namely: preparation stage, science and technology transfer stage in the form of discussion, demonstration stage, and evaluation stage. 83.33% of PKK members who became the target audience understood the socialization material about antioxidant tea made from yard plants. A total of 10 people understood the socialization material from the initial target of 4 people. Capability of tea-making skills, serving dosage and packaging were obtained by 8 people who mastered the skills well. Overall service activities were categorized as successful in transferring knowledge and technology to the target audience. Abstract

The community of Karangasem Village works as farmers. The land condition in Karangasem village dry land , high content of lime carbonate and shallow soil solum so that the percentage of plant life is low. To overcome these problems, it is necessary to increase knowledge of land management that is suitable for karst areas. Prior to the application of new technology, it is necessary to measure the level of knowledge of farmers towards technology and changes in attitudes that occur after understanding the technology. These factors encourage Community Service (PkM) with assistance to farmers which aims to foster farmer changes that include the level of knowledge, skills, abilities, attitudes, and motivation for farming activities carried out. The PkM method is done by focus group discussions , counseling, training and assistance for mycorrhizal applications on woody plants, icons of rare tree conservation and land management. The implication of the activity is that 92% of farmers who do not know about mycorrhizal inoculation technology and its benefits for soil and plants become 100% aware and know the benefits of mycorrhizal application.. Changes in farmers' attitudes have implications for the pattern from chemical agricultural changes to organic farming and environmentally friendly agriculture.

Abstract

Repong damar merupakan salah satu kearifan lokal masyarakat pesisir Krui dalam menjaga dan mengelola hutan dan sebagai sumber mata pencaharian masyarakat di sekitarnya. Dalam perkembangannya, keberadaan repong damar tidak terlepas dari ancaman dan bahaya kerusakan akibat penebangan tegakan damar, serangan hama penyakit dan konversi repong damar menjadi kebun kelapa sawit.  Selain itu, minimnya kesadaran generasi muda untuk melestarikan keberadaan repong damar juga menjadi suatu kendala dan ancaman bagi keberlangsungan keberadaan repong damar. Masyarakat telah melakukan berbagai usaha untuk menjaga kelestarian repong damar, diantaranya dengan mengembangkan pembibitan damar. Namun, pengelolan repong damar secara berkelanjutan belum dikelola masyarakat sekitar secara maksimal. Hasil kegiatan ini diharapkan dapat memberikan pemahaman kepada masyarakat Pekon Pahmungan dalam memanfaatkan dan mengelola repong damar secara berekelanjutan.

Abstract

Utilization of data and information on ecosystem services is used as a reference in the management of natural resources and the environment as well as a guide for policy makers to determine priority locations in critical ecosystem restoration. There are challenges for Forest Management Unit (FMU) staff and community members to accurately collect and report specific information on forest carbon, biodiversity, supply forest types, and cultural ecosystem services. This service aims to facilitate FMU staff and members of the social forestry community in Aceh Province to receive Excel-based training on ecosystem services tools. The method used is counseling through training activities carried out for six days using excel-based ecosystem services tools, namely forest carbon, tree biodiversity, and forest integrity Assessment (FIA). The participants of this activity were 22 participants who came from KPH staff, forest community groups, local government agencies (BKSDA Aceh, BPDASL KA, TNGL), as well as staff and students of Forestry at Syiah Kuala University. The results obtained from this activity are direct understanding and practice by participants regarding the use of excel-based ecosystem service tools.

Abstract

Kelompok Tani Hutan (KTH) Sumber Agung merupakan salah satu kelompok tani yang anggotanya memiliki lahan garapan yang berbatasan langsung maupun berada dalam kawasan Taman Hutan Raya Wan Abdul Rachman (Tahura WAR) dan memiliki nilai yang sangat strategis dalam menjaga kelestarian Tahura WAR serta Kota Bandar Lampung. Namun pendapatan petani dari hasil lahan dirasa belum memadai akibat kurang intensif melakukan pemupukan. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat (PkM) ini dilaksanakan dengan  metode ceramah, praktik langsung diikuti tahap evaluasi dari bulan Juni sampai September 2020.  PkM hanya diikuti oleh 15 orang petani karena kondisi pandemi covid-19 dengan materi berupa: Pupuk dan pemupukan; Pembuatan dan pemanfaatan pupuk hijau; Nutrisi yang dibutuhkan oleh tanaman serta Pemeliharaan tanaman.PkM mendapatkan sambutan baik dari petani dan hasil evaluasi  menunjukkan bahwa terjadi peningkatan pemahaman terhadap materi-materi yang diberikan secara sebesar 32,6% dari skor total  47,5 menjadi 70,5.
