Buletin Psikologi focuses on contextualizing psychological concepts or phenomena within the socio-cultural setting of Indonesia through the use of non-empirical study, such as, literature review, systematic review, scoping review, and meta-analysis. It accepts articles that are based on the thorough and systematic examination of psychological constructs from the perspective of Indonesian context. The journal is open access, peer-reviewed, and published biannually. We accept and publishes articles in English and Bahasa Indonesia languages to accommodate our diverse audience in Indonesia and internationally.

Abstract

This paper shows an analysis on several literature reviews. The aim of this article is to understand epilepsy in multiple cultures. Epilepsy is considered different across countries and cultures. It is a neurological disorder, characterized by spontaneous and periodic seizures. It is not a new illness. In ancient times, epilepsy has been known as a form of religious experience associated with satanic or sacred diseases, spirits' attacks, 'possessions,' and in some cultures identical to madness. Epilepsy has detrimental effects on patient psychologically, economically, socially and culturally. These effects include social isolation, stigmatization, or disability that can lead to poor learning outcomes and job opportunities. Negative social stigma, negative attitudes, misunderstandings, discrimination, and misperceptions experienced by epileptic patients around the world, causes them to feel trapped in the dark and socially withdrawn.

Abstract

As a young democratic country, Indonesia needs various studies and experiences related to implementation of healthy democracy. Referring to psychological principle, decade long experience living in the Dark Age (new order regime) could become a nightmare or even traumatic experience for many Indonesia ns. In the context of Indonesia as a state, the traumatic event is not just experienced by individual, but also groups, organizations and civil society. Therefore, Indonesia needs numerous empirical supports to enhance its democratic condition. Moral psychology is considered as the empirical aspect that suitable in analyzing various political and democracy issues in Indonesia. Moral psychology is focusing its studies on human judgment related to right (correct) and w rong (false). This study is truly become empirical donation as an attempt to search political leader w ith democratic leadership as the trait. Comprehensive study in moral psychology could provide clear explanation for many political issues and also helping citizens to decide their political action for Indonesia

Abstract

The incidence of suicide increases in Indonesia and around the world that encourage the growing of research on suicidal behavior. Hopelessness recognized as a strongly predictor of suicidal behavior, including suicidal ideas and suicide attempts (Beck, Brown, Berchick, Stewart, & Steer, 1990; Reinecke and Franklin-Scott, 2005). However, the empirical results show the correlation between hopelessness and suicidal behavior seem to be less consistent. The purpose of this study is to determine the relationship of hopelessness and s uicidal behavior through the study of meta-analysis. There are 27 studies are including in this meta-analysis study. Two artifacts allow for correction in these study are sampling error and measurement error. The result shows that the correlation of hopele ssness and suicidal behavior is 0.360, with the confidence level is 95%

Abstract

This study examined the correlation between job satisfaction and turnover intention derived from various studies in 2009-2016 using meta-analysis method. The used samples consisted of 25 studies from 21 research journal drawn from online databases. Analyses were conducted using two artifacts, correction on error sampling and on error measures. Results of the study showed that correlation between job satisfaction and turnover intention in the 1st artifact was -0,46 and in the 2nd artifact was -0,56.

Abstract

This article examined the correlation between self-efficacy and resilience with meta-analytic technique. The quanitative review includes 20 correlations from 15 studies. Two artifacts allow for correction in these study are sampling error and measurement error. Summary analysis provided support for the hypothesis that self-efficacy has a positive correlation to resilience. The result shows that the correlation of self-efficacy and resilience is 0.591, with the confidence level is 95%.

Abstract

The performance of an organization exists when each individual and team in the organization have productivities. The performance of an organization is commonly measured based on its tangible assets, i.e .: physical assets and financial capital. The performance of tangible assets depends on intagible assets (such as : image of company, brand, data base, and human resources). Intagible asseets are key factors to development of an organization. In this respect, an integrated system is a determinant to the performance of an organization. An integrated approach among Personal Balance Scorecard, Positive Organizational Scholarship, Positive Organizational Behavior and Integral Psychology will definitely strengthen the performance of an organization, and each organization has opportunities to develop as a positive organization. Each individual in an organization has vitality and experiences flows, while each organization may go flourishing.

Abstract

Social media becomes a new tool for many areas to perform functions and works, such as political campaign media, advertising, and teaching. However, the use of social media nowadays also raises excessive effects which could be serious problems if it was not overcame as soon as possible. There are some social media usage behaviors that should be observed, such as selfie, cyber bullying, online shopping, user-personalization, and shared- culture. Through the study of social psychology, it is expected that readers have more comprehensive perspective in looking at the phenomenon of social media hegemony as part of contemporary social reality.

Abstract

Authoritarians tend to have submissive attitude toward authority, conservative, and ready to punish groups that have different moral attitudes.These characteristics are not conducive for development of democratic society. This meta-analytical study tries to test relation between authoritarianism and support for democratic values. From 60 articles with 117 studies and 74432 total participants, we found that authoritarianism have negative significant correlation with support for democratic values (Mean effect size=-.3892; p< 0.05). Authoritarianism correlates negatively with support for civic liberty and human rights. Authoritarianism also correlates positively with support for blind nationalism, military interventions,prejudice and discrimination toward groups from different races, immigrants and homosexuals. Authoritarianism can be hindrance for democratization processes.

Abstract

The purpose of this article is to understand the basic neuroanatomy of the brain and the neurodevelopmental characteristics of children with autism spectrum disorders. Children with autism spectrum disorders are children with complex developmental disorders, based on a neuropsychological approach, a disorder experienced by a child with autism due to abnormalities in the structure and biochemistry of the brain, as well as the interference in integrating sensory information received by the environment. Disturbances in the sensory process include how to obtain sensory information (sensory procesing), how to process the information (sensory procesing), and how to move the muscles and perform a series of movements in response to sensory stimuli received.

Abstract

Item Response Theory (IRT) was developed to overcome the problems in Classical Test Theory (CTT). Item analysis using IRT is based on the parameters used which are item difficulty, item discrimination, and pseudo-chance level. This paper aims to provide an overview of how IRT isused to perform item analysis on cognitive tests. Simulation data of seven items with 900 subjects were used . IRT analysis was performed with R Program based on one, two, and three-parameter logistic model. The results were then discussed
