Abstract

This study aims to analyze the teacher's strategy in applying interactive learning media in class IV Indonesian language subjects of Merdeka Curriculum at  Elementary School. The method used is descriptive qualitative with data collection techniques through interviews, observation, and documentation. Data validity through source triangulation and technique triangulation, which ensures consistency and accuracy of data from various perspectives. The collected data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model, which includes data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results show that the use of interactive learning media such as Wordwall and animated videos is effective in improving students' skills, including speaking, reading, listening and writing. It also creates a learningatmosphere that is fun, participatory, and relevant to students' needs. However, some obstacles were found, such as limited technology facilities, inadequate projectors, and unstable internet access. Proposed solutions include improving school facilities and improving internet access. This research confirms that interactive learning media is a relevant innovation to support Merdeka Curriculum, provide an engaging learning experience, and significantly improve student learning outcomes.

Abstract

The rapid integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in education has reshaped self-directed learning (SDL), yet empirical insights into students’ experiences remain underexplored. This qualitative phenomenological study investigates master’s students’ experiences, awareness, and perceived meanings of AI-driven SDL at Yogyakarta State University. Data from in-depth interviews with nine participants revealed three core themes: (1) AI-enhanced efficiency and personalized learning, (2) awareness of AI’s benefits (e.g., accessibility) and limitations (e.g., accuracy, dependency risks), and (3) the dual impact of AI on critical thinking and ethical concerns. While students leveraged AI for task management and information access, they emphasized the necessity of cross-verifying AI-generated content and maintaining academic autonomy. Challenges included reduced deep engagement and potential over-reliance on technology. The study highlights the imperative for balanced AI integration in higher education, advocating for ethical guidelines, educator training, and adaptive curricula that harmonize technological innovation with critical literacy development. These findings inform strategies to optimize AI’s educational potential while safeguarding academic rigor and student agency, offering a framework for institutions navigating the digital transformation of learning.

Abstract

This research addresses the low reading ability of beginner-level BIPA students in understanding Indonesian cultural materials, attributed to complex vocabulary, grammar, and contextual themes. It analyzes the feasibility, practicality, and effectiveness of interactive multimedia integrated with a self-directed learning model to enhance reading skills and cultural understanding. Using a quantitative experimental approach with a one-group pretest-posttest design, 30 A1-level BIPA students were selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected via expert validation, practicality questionnaires, and culture-based reading tests. Results indicate: (1) high feasibility by media (3.81/4) and material experts (3.56/4); (2) very high practicality ratings by lecturers (3.72/4) and students (3.56/4); and (3) moderate effectiveness (N-gain 0.63), with average scores rising from 62.33 (pre-test) to 86.16 (post-test). The study concludes that pedagogically designed interactive multimedia strengthens linguistic and cultural competencies through contextual content, intuitive design, and self-directed learning flexibility. This model offers an innovative, adaptive solution for technology-based language education in cross-cultural contexts.

Abstract

Reflective learning is used to improve writing skills, and track the learning process regarding what students understand and what they do not understand. However, little research has explored the impact of reflective learning on students' critical thinking, especially in higher education. This study aims to fills the gap by exploring Indonesian EFL students in the seventh semester of using reflective learning in improving critical thinking skills and identifying their development of critical thinking skills through reflective learning. Questionnaires and students’ reflective learning are provided for data collection. The result reveal that from the questionnaire, reflective learning has an impact on students' critical thinking of 79.99%. Furthermore, it is also found that from students’ reflective learning participated in this study employed three development of critical thinking skills: 1) identify the strength, 2) recognize the weaknesses, and 3) find out the solution. Finding suggest that strategic use of reflective learning may enhance EFL critical thinking skills as well as maximize the achievement of their learning goals.

Abstract

English language skills are very important to face future challenges. In situations like this, using video media as a teaching method can be an interesting innovation for teaching children to recognize English vocabulary. This research aims to explore the role of YouTube media in creating a more interactive learning experience and teachers also benefit from YouTube media because YouTube can help teachers explain vocabulary lessons in class, especially in jitjongrak schools, and to increase students' understanding and motivation. This research uses qualitative methods. Researchers will look at the activities of teachers at this school in introducing English vocabulary using animated video media on the YouTube application in learning and describing the problem under study in the real situation by making observations, with the data analysis used, namely descriptive data analysis. The results of the study stated that the English vocabulary ability score of respondents, namely children aged 4-6 years at Jitjongkrak Krabi School, Thailand, who learned English using YouTube media, had an average of 88%, categorized as very good. The existence of YouTube proves that this media can be used as a medium to introduce English vocabulary to children, as evidenced by the average score of YouTube utilization of 62, categorized as good.

Abstract

Self-regulated learning (SRL) has emerged as a key competency in modern education. It enables students to take charge of their learning by planning, monitoring, and evaluating their progress. As artificial intelligence (AI) advances rapidly, educational technologies such as chatbots, intelligent tutoring systems, and generative AI tools are being increasingly introduced in classrooms and on online platforms. Although these technologies are often integrated to enhance learning outcomes, their specific role in supporting self-regulated learning (SRL) remains understudied. This paper presents a systematic review of 22 peer-reviewed articles published between 2007 and May 2025. The goal is to map how AI technologies contribute to the different phases of SRL using the framework proposed by Winne and Hadwin (1998) and updated by Winne (2018). The findings indicate that most AI tools provide substantial support during the strategy enactment phase, while fewer focus on planning and metacognitive monitoring. Two phases that are central to SRL’s cyclical nature, task understanding and reflective adaptation, receive comparatively little attention. From a dimensional perspective, cognitive and metacognitive processes are the most frequently addressed, whereas motivational and emotional components are often overlooked. Over 80% of the studies reported a positive impact of AI on SRL behaviors, and approximately 65% noted improvements in academic performance. These results underscore the importance of designing AI systems that are intelligent, responsive, empathetic, and aligned with the realities of student learning. Future research should consider developing emotionally aware, multi-phase AI tools, particularly chatbots, that can accompany learners through the full cycle of SRL in a personalized, ongoing manner.

Abstract

Speaking skill is essential in English language learning but remains challenging for primary school learners, especially in multicultural and multilingual contexts. This qualitative descriptive study explores an English teacher’s perspective on the use of audiovisual media to enhance speaking skills at a primary school in Southern Thailand. Data were collected through online semi-structured interviews and analyzed using a rigorous thematic analysis process involving open, axial, and selective coding, validated by peer debriefing. Findings indicate that authentic audiovisual materials promote interactive and contextual learning, improve vocabulary, pronunciation, and sentence structure, and increase student confidence and participation. The study addresses a significant research gap in audiovisual media use in young learners within under-researched multilingual settings, offering novel insights into effective teaching strategies and multimedia scaffolding theories. This research provides practical implications for educators aiming to integrate technology to improve speaking proficiency.
