Abstract

Nagari Bukik Batabuah and Nagari Batu Taba in Agam Regency are highly vulnerable to flash floods due to their location on the slopes of Mount Marapi and high rainfall intensity. The flash flood that occurred in 2024 caused severe losses, including casualties and infrastructure damage, while the absence of clearly defined evacuation routes hindered rescue efforts. This study aims to design effective evacuation routes using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to minimize future disaster risks. A mixed-methods approach was employed, with a dominant qualitative orientation in which researchers were directly involved in field data collection. The results indicate that the high-risk hazard zone covers 104.79 hectares, medium risk 1,158.27 hectares, and low risk 1,158.94 hectares. Recommended evacuation points in Nagari Bukik Batabuah include SDN 08 Kubang Duo Koto Panjang, SDN 11 Batabuah Koto Baru, the Bukik Batabuah Village Office, and Masjid At Taqwa Mantuang. In Nagari Batu Taba, the central evacuation point is SMKN 1 Ampek Angkek. Potential evacuation routes include Jl. Raya Canduang, Jl. Raya Sungai Pua, and Jl. Raya Panca. These findings provide a crucial foundation for disaster risk mitigation efforts and for strengthening community preparedness in disaster-prone areas.

Abstract

This study is motivated by the limited research on the development of technology-based learning in rural elementary schools, despite the growing need for technological integration in 21st-century education. The aim of this research is to explore the role of teachers in developing technology-based learning at SDN Jatimulyo 01, Jenggawah District, Jember Regency. A descriptive qualitative method was employed, involving six teachers selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation, and analyzed thematically. The findings reveal that teachers have begun to utilize basic technologies such as projectors, educational videos, and limited digital platforms like WhatsApp and YouTube. The main challenges identified include inadequate infrastructure and a lack of professional development opportunities. These findings support digital constructivist theory, which positions teachers as facilitators in technology-enhanced learning processes. The study concludes that there is a pressing need to enhance teachers' capacity in ICT integration to support adaptive and relevant learning aligned with students' contemporary needs. The practical implications of this research include recommendations for the provision of adequate ICT infrastructure, continuous professional training, and the development of contextual learning models suited to rural elementary school environments.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the variety of motifs and techniques used in the creation of batik specific to Kerinci, as developed at Rumah Batik Kerinci Ardinal in Lubuk Nagodang Village, Kerinci Regency. The research is grounded in the urgency to preserve local cultural heritage, which is increasingly at risk due to limited documentation and low youth engagement. Employing a descriptive qualitative approach, data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews with the studio owner, and visual documentation. The findings reveal that Rumah Batik Kerinci Ardinal plays a strategic role as both a production center and a creative educational space dedicated to preserving the traditional batik art of Kerinci. The motifs produced feature strong local identity and symbolic meaning, including Tari Ayun Luci, Lukah, Gunung Kerinci, and Aksara Incung, reflecting the region's natural richness and cultural values. The batik is crafted using synthetic stamp techniques, with production stages that demonstrate the distinctive skills of local artisans. The study concludes that documentation, revitalization, and generational renewal are essential strategies for safeguarding regional cultural heritage. The implications support the development of batik as a sustainable textile craft that not only reinforces Kerinci’s cultural identity but also opens economic opportunities within the creative sector.

Abstract

This study aims to assess the welfare level of rubber farmers in Nagari Sungai Batuang and to analyze the economic, social, and environmental factors influencing their welfare. Employing a mixed methods approach with an explanatory sequential design, the research began with a quantitative survey of 33 rubber farmers, followed by in-depth qualitative interviews with six purposively selected informants based on variations in welfare level, land ownership, access to aid, and social participation. The findings indicate that the farmers’ welfare levels range from low to moderate, with a distribution of 24.2% categorized as pre-prosperous, 39.4% as prosperous I, 27.3% as prosperous II, and 9.1% as prosperous III. The primary income source for farmers is rubber latex sales, contributing an average of 72% of total income, while the remainder derives from side activities such as livestock farming, trading, and freelance work. Multiple linear regression analysis reveals that economic factors have the most significant influence on welfare (β = 0.489; p < 0.001), followed by environmental factors (β = 0.351; p = 0.004) and social factors (β = 0.274; p = 0.038). Qualitative findings highlight key barriers including dependence on fluctuating rubber prices, limited infrastructure, and low institutional participation. Furthermore, farmers’ perceptions of welfare are also shaped by non-material dimensions such as a sense of security, social relationships, and life meaning. The study concludes by emphasizing the need for integrated interventions involving economic capacity building, agricultural infrastructure improvement, institutional strengthening, and social support to enhance welfare in a holistic and sustainable manner.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the socio-economic conditions of horticultural farmer group members in Nagari Bungo Tanjuang and to identify the factors influencing their income. Horticultural farming is a strategic sector in the rural economy, requiring the optimization of both human and physical resources. A quantitative approach with a descriptive method was employed. Primary data were collected through questionnaires distributed to 35 farmer group members and analyzed descriptively and comparatively to reveal respondent profiles and inter-variable relationships. The results show that most farmers are in their productive age and have over 11 years of farming experience, although their educational backgrounds vary. Data analysis indicates a positive correlation between farmers’ income and factors such as land size, farming experience, and frequency of participation in training programs. Additionally, collective ownership of production assets by the farmer group serves as an essential form of physical capital supporting agricultural activities. The study concludes that farmers’ income is influenced by a combination of human capital namely experience and skill enhancement and physical capital, including land and production facilities. The findings underscore the importance of strengthening farmer group institutions as a key strategy for sustainably enhancing farmers' capacity and well-being.

Abstract

This study aims to design and develop a durian ripeness detection device based on an electronic nose system using an engineering design approach. The system employs the MQ-135 gas sensor as the primary detector to identify alcohol levels emitted by durian fruit, along with an ultrasonic sensor that automatically activates the system. An Arduino microcontroller functions as the control center, programmed in C language. When durian is detected by the ultrasonic sensor, the MQ-135 sensor measures the alcohol concentration; if it exceeds the 3% threshold, the system activates a green LED and buzzer to indicate ripeness, whereas levels below the threshold suggest the fruit is unripe. Experimental testing was conducted on durians at various ripeness levels, with data analyzed descriptively. Results indicate that the device can distinguish between ripe and unripe durians with an accuracy rate of 86.7%. The device is non-destructive, portable, and efficient, making it highly suitable for use by farmers, collectors, and traders in durian sorting and distribution processes. The study concludes that an Arduino-based electronic nose system offers a practical innovation for enabling the public to assess durian ripeness more accurately and conveniently.

Abstract

This study is grounded in the recognition of the importance of internal factors such as learning motivation and interest in supporting students' academic achievement, particularly in the subject of Basic Vocational Competencies in Visual Communication Design at vocational high schools (SMK). The purpose of this study is to examine the influence of learning motivation and interest on the academic performance of Grade X students in the Visual Communication Design program at SMK Negeri 1 Batipuh. A quantitative approach with a correlational method was employed. The sample consisted of 62 students selected from the entire population of Grade X students. Data were collected using a closed-ended questionnaire previously tested for validity and reliability, and documentation of Mid-Semester Examination (UTS) scores. Data analysis was conducted using IBM SPSS Statistics 2024. The results indicate that students’ motivation and learning interest are in the good category and have a strong, significant relationship with academic achievement, both individually and collectively, with a multiple correlation value of 0.867. The study concludes that learning motivation and interest exert a positive and significant influence on students’ academic performance. These findings imply the necessity of instructional strategies that foster student motivation and interest as a means to enhance academic achievement in vocational education.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the role of teachers as facilitators in enhancing student creativity at the elementary school level. In the context of 21st-century learning, teachers are no longer merely transmitters of information, but rather guides and companions in the process of developing students’ potential. The method used is a literature review, analyzing various relevant sources on teacher strategies for facilitating creativity. The findings indicate that teachers who act as facilitators must be able to recognize the diverse characteristics of students, apply innovative teaching methods, and utilize appropriate media to encourage active participation and critical thinking. Constructive feedback, a supportive classroom environment, and freedom of expression are key factors in fostering creative skills and problem-solving abilities. The study concludes that the teacher’s role as a facilitator is crucial in preparing students to become independent, innovative, and adaptable individuals in facing future challenges. The implications highlight the need for teachers to continuously develop their pedagogical competence and creativity in teaching practices to create transformative learning experiences.

Abstract

Basic healthcare services play a vital role in public health development, with Posyandu serving as a strategic community-based health service facility in Indonesia. This study aims to evaluate government support for Posyandu Cemara RW 01 using a qualitative approach through in-depth interviews. The focus of the study includes the provision of medical equipment, operational funding, and cadre training. The findings reveal that while the government has provided support in the form of medical tools and operational funds, gaps remain in the area of cadre training. The limited training and human resource development have led to inadequate service delivery skills among cadres, ultimately reducing public trust in the Posyandu. These findings underscore that the effectiveness of government support has not fully addressed the needs on the ground. The study concludes by highlighting the importance of formulating more responsive and sustainable policy strategies, particularly in enhancing cadre capacity, to strengthen the role of Posyandu as a frontline institution in community healthcare delivery.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the relationship between time management and work-life balance among female teachers in Kuranji District. The subjects consisted of 97 married female junior high school teachers who have children. A quantitative approach was used, employing Pearson’s product-moment correlation analysis. The research instruments included a time management scale and a work-life balance scale, both of which had been tested for validity and reliability, with Cronbach’s Alpha values of 0.897 and 0.899, respectively. The analysis results indicate a positive and significant relationship between time management and work-life balance, with a correlation coefficient of r = 0.205 and p = 0.044 (p < 0.05), although the strength of the relationship falls within the weak category. These findings suggest that the better female teachers are at managing their time, the higher their levels of balance between professional and personal life. The implications of this study underscore the importance of training and institutional support in enhancing time management skills to help female teachers achieve a more optimal work-life balance.
