Abstract

This article discusses teacher management strategies for enhancing students’ motivation in mastering foreign languages, particularly English, at MI Muhammadiyah Ajibarang, Banyumas. The teaching and learning process is understood as an interaction between teachers and students aimed at achieving optimal learning outcomes. In this context, student motivation is a key factor influencing learning success, as mental drives such as desire and aspiration can direct learning behavior. The objective of this study is to identify the instructional management strategies employed by teachers to foster student learning motivation, as well as their impact on foreign language acquisition. A qualitative method was used, with data collected through interviews and classroom observations. The findings reveal that teachers apply a range of management strategies, including the use of audio-visual media and the implementation of interactive learning methods such as Project-Based Learning. Observations indicated that approximately 80% of students actively participated in the learning process, contributing positively to increased motivation and English language proficiency. Instructional approaches that are relevant to students’ real-life experiences were also found to enhance their learning interest. The study concludes that innovative and contextual management strategies can create a conducive and engaging learning environment, thereby encouraging students to be more motivated in learning foreign languages. The implication is that these findings offer practical guidance for teachers seeking to improve the quality of language instruction at the primary school level.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the profile of academic anxiety among first-year students of the 2024 cohort at Universitas Negeri Padang. The research involved 416 new students selected through purposive sampling, with data collected online via Google Forms using a Likert-scale questionnaire. The instrument employed was the Academic Anxiety Scale developed by Ottens (1991). This quantitative study utilized two-way factorial analysis of variance (ANOVA) to determine differences in anxiety levels based on age, gender, academic program, and place of origin. The results indicate that, in general, first-year students at Universitas Negeri Padang fall within the moderate category of academic anxiety. This finding suggests that although most students have not yet exhibited severe anxiety symptoms, they still require academic attention and support to prevent an escalation during the early stages of university transition. The implication is that higher education institutions should develop counseling services, orientation programs, and adaptive learning strategies to help new students manage academic demands in a healthy and productive manner.

Abstract

This study examines the relevance and implementation of KH. Hasyim Asy’ari’s thought on Qur’anic character education within the context of contemporary Islamic philanthropic institutions, focusing on the Abata Movement Indonesia Foundation. Employing a descriptive qualitative approach through literature review and case study, the research explores the values of adab in Adab al-‘Ālim wa al-Muta‘allim and their actualization in Abata’s educational programs. The findings reveal that character principles such as sincerity (ikhlāṣ), reverence (ta‘zīm), discipline, and exemplary conduct, as taught by KH. Hasyim Asy’ari, have been consistently internalized through habituation activities, teacher role models, and spiritual development for the children under Abata’s care. The actualization of these values serves as a bridge between classical Islamic thought and the demands of modern character education, particularly relevant amid today’s moral and social crises. The study concludes that integrating the intellectual legacy of classical scholars with institutional innovation in Islamic philanthropy plays a strategic role in shaping a Qur’anic generation—one that is not only knowledgeable and virtuous but also capable of contributing meaningfully to society. The implication is that such an approach may serve as a model for community-based Islamic character education.

Abstract

Women have long been a central issue in social studies, particularly in relation to educational access and gender equality. Prior to the 20th century, Indonesian women experienced marginalization, lacking freedom of thought and facing restricted roles in society. In response to this inequality, several female figures most notably R.A. Kartini emerged as pioneers of emancipation, advocating for women’s rights to receive proper education. This study aims to examine R.A. Kartini’s thoughts on women’s education and their relevance to the principles of Islamic education. Utilizing a qualitative method with a literature review approach, the research analyzes Kartini’s letters alongside supporting literature. The findings reveal that Kartini not only critiqued the patriarchal culture that constrained Javanese women, but also promoted educational values aligned with Islamic teachings, such as the importance of knowledge, justice, and the empowerment of women as a moral and humanitarian responsibility. Though rooted in a local context, Kartini’s ideas hold universal value and remain pertinent to contemporary challenges in Islamic education. The study concludes that Kartini’s struggle can serve as an inspiration for developing an Islamic education model that is responsive to gender equality issues, while remaining grounded in moral and spiritual values consistent with Islamic teachings.

Abstract

This study aims to highlight the urgency of developing creativity, interests, and talents in primary school-aged children through a literature review approach. The primary school years represent a strategic developmental phase for fostering children's full potential, cognitively, affectively, and psychomotorically. The method used is a literature review analyzing various scholarly articles, books, and journals addressing topics related to creativity, talent, and primary education. The findings show that creativity plays a vital role in enhancing critical thinking, innovation, and problem-solving skills, while talent represents an innate potential that must be identified, guided, and nurtured from an early age. A supportive learning environment, child-centered pedagogical approaches, and active involvement of both teachers and parents are key factors in the success of this developmental process. The study concludes that integrated and holistic educational strategies are essential in promoting creativity and optimizing children’s talents at the primary school level. The implication is that developing children's potential should be a top priority in curriculum planning and instructional practices within basic education settings.

Abstract

This study aims to design and develop an Internet of Things (IoT)-based automation system for Nutrient Film Technique (NFT) hydroponics to cultivate green spinach, offering an innovative solution for efficient, adaptive, and sustainable modern agriculture in the context of urban farming. The research employs a descriptive approach using the Waterfall development model, encompassing stages of analysis, design, implementation, and testing. The system is built using a NodeMCU ESP8266 microcontroller integrated with temperature and humidity sensor (DHT11), pH sensor, TDS sensor, and a water level sensor to monitor the environmental conditions for plant growth. The system automatically activates the water pump when the water level drops below the minimum threshold of 15 mm and also provides manual control via a web dashboard. Testing results demonstrate that all input, processing, and output subsystems function optimally and are well-integrated. Sensor data are displayed in real-time on an LCD and can be remotely accessed through IoT connectivity. The study concludes that the automated NFT system is effective in maintaining optimal growing conditions and has the potential to improve the efficiency and productivity of green spinach cultivation at the household scale. The implication is that this system can serve as a viable smart agriculture technology for urban environments.

Abstract

The Siemens S7-1200 PLC-based Liquid Mixer system, integrated into the Smart Manufacturing Industry 4.0 (SMI) T201 Trainer, was developed to automate the process of fluid filling and mixing through logical operations using actuators and sensors. This study aims to analyze the validity level of the system in the context of learning and training in smart manufacturing technology. The methodology employed is a quantitative approach with an evaluative design based on content validity analysis. Data were collected through 25 direct testing sessions with varying fluid volumes and performance evaluations using quantitative and evaluative instruments. The main results indicate that the system operates consistently and meets performance measurement standards. The validity score obtained using Aiken’s V formula is 0.94, indicating a high level of validity. The study concludes that the Liquid Mixer system demonstrates high accuracy and reliability in executing automation functions and makes a significant contribution to the development of PLC-based industrial automation systems in the field of smart manufacturing education and training.

Abstract

Issues in conventional water metering systems, such as delayed recording and data inaccuracy, highlight the need for technological innovation in managing household water consumption. This study aims to design and implement an Internet of Things (IoT)-based water meter device that enables real-time and remote monitoring of water usage. The method used is prototyping, involving the development of a system composed of hardware components such as the NodeMCU ESP8266, water flow sensor, and solenoid valve, alongside software tools including Arduino IDE and the Blynk application. The prototype was tested through ten water flow measurements and compared against readings from a conventional meter. The results show an average error rate of 1.27% and a Pearson correlation coefficient of 0.9989, indicating a very high level of empirical validity. The study concludes that the device effectively provides accurate and automated water consumption monitoring via a mobile application and is suitable as an efficient and adaptive alternative to conventional water meters, aligning with the demands of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

Abstract

This study stems from the need to improve the efficiency of student attendance recording in schools, which is still predominantly carried out manually and remains ineffective. The primary objective of the research is to develop an automated attendance system based on the ESP32 microcontroller, integrated with Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology and the Internet of Things (IoT) concept. The method employed is Rapid Application Development (RAD), which supports fast and iterative system design and testing. The system is built using key components such as the MFRC522 RFID reader, 16x2 LCD display, real-time clock (RTC), 4x4 keypad, buzzer, and I2C communication module, all integrated into a single automated attendance device. The software was developed using Arduino IDE for microcontroller programming and Visual Studio Code for the web interface, while the database was constructed using MySQL via XAMPP. Testing results indicate that all modules function optimally; the system accurately reads RFID UIDs, displays real-time attendance data on the LCD, and automatically stores information in the database. In conclusion, the system effectively replaces manual attendance methods and demonstrates high potential for broad implementation in educational institutions.

Abstract

This study is motivated by challenges in chili cultivation, particularly the need for timely irrigation and pesticide spraying, as well as monitoring environmental humidity and temperature, which significantly affect plant productivity. The objective of this research is to design and develop an Internet of Things (IoT)-based monitoring and control system to enhance the efficiency of chili plant care. The system was developed using the Waterfall method, encompassing requirement analysis, design, implementation, and testing stages. Key components include a soil moisture sensor for detecting soil humidity, a DHT11 sensor for measuring air temperature and humidity, and an ESP32 microcontroller integrated with the Blynk application for remote control. Testing results show that the sensors function accurately, with an average temperature measurement error of 0.3%. The automated irrigation system activates when soil moisture falls below a set threshold, and pesticide spraying can be remotely controlled via smartphone. The study concludes that the developed system is effective in supporting precision agriculture practices and contributes to improving the productivity and efficiency of modern chili cultivation.
