Abstract

This article is motivated by the importance of understanding the historical and situational context in interpreting the Qur’an, particularly through the study of the foundational concepts of Nuzulul Qur'an and Asbābun Nuzūl. The primary aim of this study is to analyze the implications of understanding these two concepts for the methods of interpreting Qur’anic verses, both in classical and contemporary exegesis traditions. The study employs a qualitative analytical approach through a literature review of Islamic scholarly works related to the central theme. The findings indicate that Asbābun Nuzūl plays a significant role in clarifying the meaning of verses, preventing misinterpretation, and bridging the divine message with modern social realities. The integration of textual (linguistic) and contextual (revelatory circumstances) analysis has proven to enrich the exegetical methodology, making it more responsive to contemporary challenges. The study concludes by emphasizing the urgency of contextual approaches in the development of Qur’anic interpretation, ensuring that the values of revelation remain relevant and applicable to the lives of present-day Muslim communities.

Abstract

Gross motor skills are a vital aspect of developmental stimulation in early childhood, contributing significantly to physical maturity and movement coordination. Initial observations indicate that some young children have not yet reached optimal development in this area and still require guidance from teachers. This study aims to describe the implementation of gross motor stimulation activities at Taman Kanak-Kanak Islam Terpadu Ar-Royyan Padang. A descriptive qualitative method was employed, with data collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The research subjects included teachers and the school principal, with data validity ensured through triangulation techniques. Data analysis followed the stages of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings show that the planning of gross motor stimulation at TK Islam Terpadu Ar-Royyan Padang refers to the Daily and Weekly Learning Implementation Plans (RPPH and RPPM). The stimulation is carried out through a variety of activities such as gymnastics, letter-matching games, bakiak games, dancing, engklek (hopscotch), and swimming. Teachers employ a range of instructional methods, including hands-on practice, performance demonstrations, and learning through play, to stimulate children's gross motor skills effectively. These findings indicate that gross motor stimulation is both structurally designed and variably implemented in accordance with the developmental characteristics of early childhood.

Abstract

Body care has become an increasingly prominent concern among modern men, not only in relation to physical appearance but also as part of a broader effort to maintain overall health and well-being. This study aims to explore male perceptions and usage patterns of body care products in Indonesia. Employing a quantitative approach, data were collected through a survey of 28 respondents representing a range of ages and social backgrounds. The findings reveal that the majority of participants have used body care products over an extended period and possess a basic understanding of their functions. However, challenges remain in selecting products suited to specific skin types and in maintaining consistent usage. Additionally, most respondents expressed a positive attitude toward skincare, demonstrating high levels of self-confidence and indifference toward social stigma. This study offers valuable insights into male consumer behavior regarding body care in Indonesia, which may inform the development of more targeted marketing strategies and educational initiatives.

Abstract

This study is motivated by the importance of preserving traditional arts as an integral part of the sociocultural life of local communities. The purpose of this research is to analyze the Tari Nulang Mas within the context of the social and cultural life of the Dusun Sirih Sekapur community, Jujuhan District, Jambi Province. A descriptive-analytical method was employed, with data collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The data were qualitatively analyzed using Koentjaraningrat’s cultural anthropology theory and Y. Sumandiyo Hadi’s functional theory. The findings reveal that Tari Nulang Mas serves not only as a form of entertainment but also as a medium for conveying cultural values, strengthening collective identity, and symbolically representing the Dusun Sirih Sekapur community. The dance also fulfills a social function in the preservation of local culture, as evidenced by its role in traditional cultural conservation events. The study concludes that Tari Nulang Mas plays a vital role in maintaining the continuity of local culture, reflects the close relationship between art, custom, and social life, and demonstrates that traditional dance is a crucial element within the cultural system of the community.

Abstract

Educational psychology is a branch of science that focuses on the learning process and the various factors influencing it, including cognitive, affective, and social aspects. Islamic and Western perspectives offer differing approaches to understanding educational psychology, both theoretically and in its application within educational settings. This study aims to compare educational psychology theories from Islamic and Western viewpoints and analyze their implications for educational practice. A qualitative method was employed using a literature review approach, examining relevant primary and secondary sources. The findings indicate that in the Islamic perspective, educational psychology is viewed as a process of character formation grounded in spiritual, moral, and tawḥīd-based values, with the ultimate goal of cultivating noble character (akhlāq). In contrast, the Western perspective places greater emphasis on cognitive development, behavior, and environmental influences on learning. These paradigm differences affect instructional methods, curriculum design, and the role of educators in guiding learners. The study concludes that integrating both perspectives can produce a more holistic and contextual approach to educational psychology, addressing the demands of modern education while remaining rooted in moral and spiritual values.

Abstract

This study is motivated by the low learning outcomes of students in the subject of Natural and Social Sciences (IPAS), highlighting the need for innovation in instructional strategies. The objective of this research is to describe the implementation of the Discovery Learning model assisted by Flipbook media to improve the learning outcomes of fifth-grade students at SDN 1 Padang Panjang Timur. The research employs a Classroom Action Research (CAR) method using both qualitative and quantitative approaches, conducted over two cycles. Each cycle consisted of the stages of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. Cycle I was carried out over two sessions, while Cycle II consisted of one session. The research subjects included one teacher and 28 fifth-grade students, comprising 16 boys and 12 girls. Data were collected through observation, tests, and non-test techniques. The findings indicate significant improvements across various aspects of learning. Observation of the teaching module increased from 87.49% (categorized as good) in Cycle I to 97.72% (very good) in Cycle II. Teacher and student activity also rose from 82.81% to 93.75%. The average student learning outcome improved from 74.99 (fair category) in Cycle I to 86.07 (good category) in Cycle II. The study concludes that the implementation of the Discovery Learning model assisted by Flipbook media is effective in enhancing student learning outcomes in IPAS instruction.

Abstract

This study is motivated by the importance of evaluating the teaching competencies of students participating in the Teaching Practice Field Experience Program (PPLK) as an integral component in enhancing the quality of future educators. The purpose of this research is to describe students’ perceptions of the teaching competencies of PPLK students from the Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Negeri Padang, who conducted teaching practice in Grade XI at SMK Negeri 1, West Sumatra. A descriptive method with a quantitative approach was used. Data were collected through a closed-ended questionnaire using a four-point Likert scale, covering a single variable: student perception. This variable was measured through four indicators: teaching skills, knowledge, physical condition, and personality of the PPLK students. The research population consisted of all students in the Mechanical Engineering department, with simple random sampling employed for sample selection. Validity testing was conducted using the Product Moment correlation, and reliability was tested using Cronbach’s Alpha, assisted by SPSS version 25. Data were analyzed descriptively and presented as percentages. The results indicate that students’ perceptions of PPLK students’ teaching competencies fall within the "very good" category, with a percentage of 77.66%. These findings suggest that PPLK students were able to conduct the teaching and learning process effectively and were positively received by students. The implications of this study are expected to contribute to the development of a more systematic and high-quality PPLK program.

Abstract

The Islamic worldview (worldview Islam) serves as a foundational framework shaping the perspective, life orientation, and behavior of a Muslim in all aspects of existence. A deep understanding and application of the Islamic worldview are essential to ensure that every dimension of spiritual, social, economic, and political life aligns with principles derived from the Qur’an and Sunnah. This article aims to elaborate on the fundamental functions of the Islamic worldview in character formation, behavioral guidance, and the direction of a Muslim’s life purpose. Utilizing a library research method, the study finds that the Islamic worldview plays a critical role in establishing firm ʿaqīdah (creed), guiding a holistic way of thinking, and serving as a reference for decision-making grounded in Divine values. Moreover, the Islamic worldview provides a strong moral foundation for confronting the challenges of modernity and globalization. Therefore, the proper internalization of the Islamic worldview functions as both an ideological and spiritual basis for realizing a meaningful life that earns the pleasure of Allah SWT.

Abstract

The buckling test labsheet used in the Fundamental Mechanical Phenomena course within the Undergraduate Program in Mechanical Engineering Education at the Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Negeri Padang (UNP), has been identified as having limitations in its instructional content. This study aims to develop and refine the labsheet to ensure adequate material coverage and a high level of feasibility for use in practical learning activities. The research employed a Research and Development (R&D) method using the Plomp development model, with a quantitative research design. Validation was conducted by three validators: the course instructor, a subject matter expert, and a media expert from the Department of Mechanical Engineering, FT UNP. Data were collected through a Likert-scale validation questionnaire and analyzed using quantitative descriptive techniques. Results from the material aspect showed that the subject matter expert gave an average score of 3.07 (76.75%), categorized as “Feasible,” while the course instructor provided a score of 3.23 (80.75%), categorized as “Highly Feasible.” For the media aspect, the media expert gave an average score of 3.59 (89.75%), and the course instructor provided a score of 3.43 (85.75%), both falling into the “Highly Feasible” category. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that the developed practical labsheet is categorized as “Highly Feasible” for use in practical sessions of the Fundamental Mechanical Phenomena course and holds potential as a reference for further research in the field of technical instructional material development.

Abstract

This study is motivated by the low memory retention among students, as indicated by difficulties in recalling information, answering questions, and comprehending learning materials comprehensively. The objective of this research is to describe the role of Guidance and Counseling (BK) teachers in enhancing students’ memory retention through content mastery services supported by mind mapping media. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed, conducted at SMA Swasta Pelita Bulu Cina. The research subjects consisted of one BK teacher and ten Grade X students, selected purposively for their direct involvement in the implementation of the service. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, and analyzed using the stages of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, with source triangulation used for validation. The findings show that content mastery services assisted by mind mapping are effective in improving students’ conceptual understanding, information organization, and memory retention, particularly among students with visual and kinesthetic learning styles. The use of mind mapping also enhanced student engagement and motivation. However, challenges emerged, including difficulty in drawing, confusion in structuring complex information, and limited suitability for technical subjects. The study concludes that BK teachers play a strategic role in designing and implementing innovative, student-centered learning support services. The implications highlight the need for ongoing training and collaboration with subject teachers to ensure optimal implementation of mind mapping-based content mastery services in improving learning quality and memory retention.
