Abstract

This study is motivated by the importance of understanding and applying the values of Islamic educational philosophy in shaping students' character and morality, particularly within the context of tahfizh Al-Qur’an education in modern Islamic boarding schools (pesantren). The primary objective of this research is to examine how core values in Islamic educational philosophy are implemented in the development of moral character and the tahfizh process at Pondok Pesantren Tahfidzul Qur’an (PPTQ) Ibnu Abbas Klaten. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed, with data collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and document analysis, including the Director’s Decree, Tahfizh Handbook, and institutional profile. The findings reveal that five principal values, ubudiyah (devotion), khalifah (leadership), ahsan (excellence), adil (justice), and mas’uliyah (responsibility) have been systematically implemented. Ubudiyah is reflected in students’ worship routines and spiritual development; khalifah is evident in the organizational structure and leadership training; ahsan and adil are manifested in a transparent and fair memorization evaluation system; while mas’uliyah is applied through tahfizh quarantine, memorization targets, and active student participation in social and disciplinary activities. The study concludes that the application of Islamic educational philosophy at PPTQ Ibnu Abbas Klaten is comprehensive, integrative, and practical, effectively supporting the holistic goals of Islamic education.

Abstract

Medicinal plants are species that contain active compounds in part or all of their structures and can be utilized for therapeutic purposes. Soursop (Annona muricata L.) and basil (Ocimum basilicum L.) are two well-known medicinal plants containing secondary metabolites with potential therapeutic effects. This study aims to identify the classes of secondary metabolites present in soursop leaf extract, basil leaf extract, and their combination through phytochemical screening tests. The screening methods involved tests for flavonoids, alkaloids, terpenoids, steroids, saponins, and phenols. The results showed that both soursop and basil leaf extracts tested positive for flavonoids, phenols, steroids, and terpenoids. However, the combined extract only showed the presence of flavonoids and phenols. The differences in secondary metabolite composition in the combined extract suggest potential interactions between compounds that may influence the pharmacological effectiveness of each plant. This research contributes to an initial understanding of phytochemical interactions in combined medicinal plant formulations.

Abstract

The “free meal” program promoted by Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka during the 2024 Presidential Election garnered significant public and media attention as a populist strategy and a form of political communication aimed at reaching low-income groups. This study aims to analyze the use of the program as a campaign tool across various communication channels, including social media, political advertisements, and direct public engagement. Using a critical discourse analysis approach, the study explores how the “free meal” program was constructed to shape the candidates’ image as leaders who are empathetic and close to the common people. The findings reveal that the strategy was effective in generating positive public opinion, despite ongoing criticism concerning its implementation and long-term sustainability. The study highlights the central role of political communication in shaping voter perceptions and underscores the growing presence of populist practices within Indonesia’s digital campaign landscape.

Abstract

The low academic achievement of students in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) at SMA Negeri 2 Lengayang, primarily due to a lack of interest in conventional lecture-based methods has highlighted the need for more interactive teaching strategies. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of audiovisual media in improving learning outcomes among Grade X Phase E students. A quantitative approach was employed using a quasi-experimental method with a nonequivalent control group design. The sample consisted of two classes: the experimental group used audiovisual media, while the control group received traditional lecture-based instruction. Data were collected using multiple-choice tests that had undergone validity and reliability testing. Analysis using an independent sample t-test revealed a significant difference between the two groups, with a significance value of p < 0.001. The average post-test score of the experimental group was 84.13, notably higher than the control group's 66.53. N-gain analysis showed a 59% improvement, indicating that audiovisual media is moderately effective in enhancing learning outcomes. The study concludes that audiovisual media is a viable instructional strategy for improving students' understanding and academic performance in PAI. The findings suggest that teachers should integrate educational technology to foster a more engaging and meaningful learning experience.

Abstract

The increasing number of tourist visits to a destination indirectly contributes to regional income growth and opens up employment opportunities, thereby improving the welfare of the surrounding community. This study aims to identify the supporting facilities that have been designed by Daling Village and evaluate their alignment with the needs of child tourists without altering the existing main design. Additionally, the study analyzes factors influencing children’s satisfaction with the available facilities to provide recommendations for developing child-friendly tourism destinations in Central Aceh Regency. A qualitative approach with a descriptive method was employed, focusing on in-depth understanding of the actual processes and conditions in the field. The findings indicate that although tourism destinations offer various economic and social benefits, improvements are still needed in areas such as tourist infrastructure, culturally appropriate language use tailored to child tourists, and the reinforcement of sustainable development principles. This study recommends the development of strategies to address barriers in building child-friendly tourism destinations while preserving local character to support an inclusive and educational tourism experience.

Abstract

This preliminary study aims to analyze the level of scientific literacy among students in physics learning in Grade XI at SMAN 4 Padang. Scientific literacy is one of the essential 21st-century competencies, reflecting students’ ability to explain scientific phenomena, evaluate and design scientific knowledge, and interpret data and scientific evidence. A descriptive quantitative approach was employed, using a scientific literacy test instrument developed based on indicators from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemendikbudristek). The research subjects consisted of 31 Grade XI students. The analysis results show that the average achievement in students’ scientific literacy was only 38.96%, with the following breakdown: explaining scientific phenomena (36.88%), evaluating and designing scientific knowledge (38.75%), and interpreting data and scientific evidence (41.25%). These findings indicate that students' scientific literacy skills remain low and do not meet the expected standards. Therefore, the study highlights the urgent need for the development of innovative physics learning models that enhance active engagement, conceptual understanding, and scientific thinking skills.

Abstract

This article develops a Contextual Strategic Planning Model (CSPM) grounded in local wisdom as an effort to enhance the effectiveness of school management in South Sulawesi. The model is driven by persistent challenges in educational planning, such as limited stakeholder participation, resource constraints, and suboptimal evaluation mechanisms, particularly in regions marked by complex socio-cultural dynamics. The study aims to formulate a strategic planning model that is adaptive to local contexts by integrating the cultural values of South Sulawesi. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed through library research, analyzing selected literature from the past four years related to educational strategy and local values. The analysis reveals that incorporating principles of local wisdom, such as Siri’ Na Pacce (dignity, integrity, social responsibility), Sipakatau (mutual respect, justice), and Sipakalebbi (equality, community support) into elements of strategic planning, including vision, mission, strategic objectives, and implementation strategies, can enhance the contextual relevance of education policy. The CSPM contributes to strengthening social cohesion, fostering ethical and responsive learning environments, and transforming schools into resilient ecosystems capable of navigating global disruptions without abandoning cultural roots. Successful implementation of CSPM requires multilevel collaboration among local governments, traditional leaders, schools, and communities; capacity building for educators; development of hybrid evaluation indicators (academic and cultural); and policy advocacy to support the operationalization of culturally grounded strategies. Without sustained commitment and dynamic implementation, the potential of local wisdom risks being reduced to mere normative discourse.

Abstract

This study is motivated by the importance of achieving a balance between work demands and personal life for female lecturers, given their dual roles, which can influence job satisfaction. The research aims to analyze the impact of work-life balance on the job satisfaction of female lecturers at Universitas Negeri Padang. A quantitative method with a survey approach was employed, involving 89 female lecturers selected through purposive sampling. Data were analyzed using linear regression. The results indicate a positive and significant correlation between work-life balance and job satisfaction, with a significance value of 0.000 (p < 0.05). An R square value of 0.315 suggests that work-life balance accounts for 31.5% of the variation in job satisfaction. These findings affirm that a higher level of work-life balance increases the likelihood of achieving job satisfaction among female lecturers. The implications of this study highlight the need for institutional strategies to support the balance between professional and personal roles for female academics, in order to enhance overall performance and workplace well-being.

Abstract

The low academic performance of students in mathematics serves as the primary motivation for this study, indicating that conventional teaching methods have not yet succeeded in fostering effective learning processes. The aim of this research is to analyze the effect of the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model on students' learning outcomes in the topic of perimeter of plane figures. A quantitative approach was employed using a one-group pretest–posttest experimental design. The sample consisted of fifth-grade students (class VB) selected through cluster sampling as part of probability sampling. The results show an improvement in learning outcomes following the implementation of the PBL model, as evidenced by an increase in average scores from 29.86 (pretest) to 72.71 (posttest). A statistical test using the Mann-Whitney method yielded a significance value of 0.002 (p < 0.05), indicating a significant effect of the PBL model on student learning outcomes. It can therefore be concluded that the application of the PBL model contributes positively to enhancing students' conceptual understanding of mathematics, particularly in the topic of perimeter of plane figures, and can be implemented regularly to foster more meaningful learning experiences.

Abstract

This study originates from the need to develop agrotourism destinations based on local potential, particularly in the context of Melky Strawberry Farm in Agam Regency. The objectives of the research are to: (1) analyze the potential of Melky Strawberry Farm as an agrotourism destination; (2) evaluate the level of accessibility to the location; and (3) assess the condition of available facilities and infrastructure. A descriptive qualitative method was employed, with data collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. Informants included the farm owner, visitors, local community members, and village government officials. Data were analyzed using the interactive model of Miles and Huberman, comprising data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, with data validity ensured through source and method triangulation. The findings indicate that Melky Strawberry Farm holds significant potential for development as a nature-based and educational agrotourism destination, offering key attractions such as scenic natural views, a cool climate, and strawberry-picking activities. Its strategic location along the Bukittinggi–Sicincin route via Malalak offers strong accessibility advantages. However, the development of the destination faces challenges, including limited supporting facilities, the absence of formal institutional structures, and an unstructured promotional strategy. The study recommends strengthening institutional governance, improving tourism infrastructure, and optimizing digital promotion to establish Melky Strawberry Farm as a leading agrotourism destination in Agam Regency.
