Abstract

The advancement of digital technology demands innovation in the learning process to prevent it from becoming monotonous and disengaging. One of the key issues in the teaching of Islamic Cultural History (Sejarah Kebudayaan Islam or SKI) at the Madrasah Aliyah level, particularly on the topic of the Abbasid Dynasty (Daulah Abbasiyah) is the overreliance on lecture-based methods, which results in low student enthusiasm. This study aims to develop Canva-based learning media that is engaging, interactive, and tailored to student needs. The method used is Research and Development (R&D) with the ADDIE model, consisting of the stages of Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. The research subjects were 26 eleventh-grade students at Madrasah Aliyah Al-Bairuny. Instruments included expert validation questionnaires and student response questionnaires. Validation results showed a score of 79% from media experts and 85% from content experts, categorized as “Appropriate.” The student trial yielded an average score of 88.6%, classified as “Very Good.” The study concludes that Canva-based learning media is effective in increasing student motivation and understanding of the Abbasid Dynasty material. The implications suggest that this media can serve as an innovative alternative for SKI learning and a reference for developing similar media in other subjects.

Abstract

The lack of student enthusiasm for learning at MA Al-Bairuny is attributed to a monotonous teaching process, in which teachers predominantly rely on the lecture method. This approach leads to boredom and disengagement, necessitating the integration of information technology-based innovations to enhance student involvement. This study aims to develop instructional videos using the Canva application to improve content comprehension and promote more effective learning. The research adopts a Research and Development (R&D) approach utilizing the ADDIE model (Analyze, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation), involving 30 eleventh-grade students. Data were collected through observation, interviews, documentation, and questionnaires. Media expert validation yielded a score of 74%, material expert validation 81%, and student responses 79.83%, indicating that the media is considered engaging. These findings confirm that Canva-based media is suitable for teaching Sejarah Kebudayaan Islam and can enhance students’ motivation and interest in learning. The study implies that technology-based instructional media can serve as an effective alternative to address low learning motivation in the classroom.

Abstract

The fundamental skill of the overhead clear among athletes of PB Pemula Jaya in Jambi City remains suboptimal, as evidenced by errors in racket grip, body positioning, foot placement, and follow-through after striking the shuttlecock. This condition highlights the need for an analysis of athletes’ mastery of badminton’s basic techniques. The objective of this study is to analyze the level of basic technical skills of PB Pemula Jaya badminton players in Jambi City. The research employed a descriptive approach with a survey method. The study population comprised all athletes aged 15–17 years, totaling 16 individuals. The findings reveal that service skills in the very good category were demonstrated by 7 athletes (44%); lob skills in the fair category by 8 athletes (50%); dropshot skills in the fair category by 10 athletes (63%); and smash skills in the good category by 9 athletes (56%). These results indicate that the athletes’ mastery of basic badminton techniques remains varied, thereby necessitating a structured training program to enhance overall skill proficiency.

Abstract

The low learning outcomes of students in Civic Education (PPKn), particularly in the topic of the Garuda Pancasila symbol, form the background of this study. This condition is influenced by students’ limited understanding of abstract material and the lack of engaging learning media. The purpose of this study is to examine students’ learning outcomes before and after the use of audiovisual media and to analyze the extent of its effect on the learning outcomes of third-grade students at MIN 1 Pontianak. A quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design using a control group pre-test–post-test was employed. The study population consisted of all third-grade students at MIN 1 Pontianak, with total sampling applied. Research instruments included multiple-choice objective tests, observation, and documentation, while data were analyzed using SPSS version 27. The results show that the control group’s average pre-test score of 64.54 increased to 74.09 in the post-test, categorized as moderate improvement. Meanwhile, the experimental group improved from an average pre-test score of 63.80 to a post-test score of 82.85. Effect size analysis using Cohen’s d produced a value of 1.230, categorized as high. The study concludes that audiovisual learning media have a significant and effective impact on improving students’ learning outcomes in the Garuda Pancasila topic.

Abstract

Moral and character degradation among students remains a serious challenge in education, as reflected in undisciplined behavior, low responsibility, and limited spiritual awareness. Consequently, teachers are expected not only to emphasize cognitive aspects but also to integrate prophetic values into learning to shape students into faithful, virtuous, and responsible individuals. This study aims to describe the implementation of prophetic education values in Akidah Akhlak learning and to analyze their relevance to character development. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed, with data collected through non-participant observation, semi-structured interviews, and documentation. Data analysis was conducted through reduction, presentation, and verification stages, with credibility tested using source and technique triangulation. Informants were selected through purposive sampling. The findings show that the implementation of prophetic education values at MA Islahul Ummah Dasan Aman is carried out through curriculum integration, teacher role modeling, and the reinforcement of prophetic values in Akidah Akhlak learning. Its relevance is evident in the alignment of learning objectives with prophetic education, the integration of prophetic values into subject matter, teaching methods that reflect prophetic principles, curriculum objectives, learning strategies, and supportive learning environments. The study affirms that prophetic education plays a significant role in character development through Akidah Akhlak instruction.

Abstract

Student learning outcomes in Geography at SMA Negeri 1 Ampek Nagari remain relatively low, partly due to the use of conventional, teacher-centered instructional methods that are monotonous and provide limited opportunities for critical thinking and deeper understanding of the material. This study aims to analyze the effect of the Jigsaw cooperative learning model on student learning outcomes in Geography. The research employed a quantitative experimental method with a Quasi-Experimental Non-Equivalent Control Group Design. The sample consisted of two classes an experimental class and a control class, each comprising 33 students selected through total sampling. Data were collected using tests, observation, and documentation, and analyzed through descriptive and inferential statistics, including normality, homogeneity, and hypothesis testing using paired-sample t-tests and independent-sample t-tests in SPSS. The results show a significant improvement in the experimental class, with mean scores increasing from 50.30 (pre-test) to 74.85 (post-test), compared to the control class, which improved from 51.06 to 63.94. The paired-sample t-test yielded p < 0.001, indicating a significant effect of the Jigsaw model on student learning outcomes. The study concludes that the Jigsaw cooperative learning model has a positive and significant impact on the Geography learning outcomes of Grade XI students at SMA Negeri 1 Ampek Nagari.

Abstract

The limited development of assessment instruments capable of measuring Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) at the elementary school level forms the background of this study, considering the crucial role of higher-order thinking in supporting the quality of 21st-century learning. This research aims to develop a HOTS test instrument that is valid, reliable, and feasible for measuring fourth-grade students' thinking skills on the topic Ini Khas Daerahku at SDN 10 Sungai Kakap. The method employed is Research and Development (R&D) using the ADDIE model, which includes the stages of analysis, design, development, and implementation. The validation process involved subject matter experts, language experts, and construction experts, along with both limited and large-scale trials. Data were collected through validation sheets and empirical testing of the test items, then analyzed using validity, reliability, difficulty level, and discrimination index tests. The findings indicate that the developed instrument is highly feasible for use; most items are valid, the reliability is high, the difficulty level is within the ideal range, and the discrimination index reflects good quality. This study confirms that HOTS-based assessment is effective in fostering students' abilities in analysis, evaluation, and creation. The main conclusion is that the development of a locally contextualized HOTS instrument produces a measurement tool aligned with curriculum needs and supports the enhancement of competency-based learning. The research has theoretical implications for educational assessment studies and practical implications as a guide for teachers in designing contextual and 21st-century skills-oriented assessments.

Abstract

The low reading fluency skills among third-grade students in Indonesian language learning at SDN 20 Kalumbuk serve as the background of this study, given that strong reading ability is essential to support comprehension and overall academic success. This research aims to examine the effect of the Oral Reading Fluency (ORF) model assisted by animated video media on students’ reading fluency skills. A quasi-experimental design was employed using a non-equivalent posttest-only control group design. The population included all third-grade students, with Class IIIB as the experimental group using the ORF model assisted by animated videos, and Class IIIA as the control group receiving conventional instruction using similar media. The instrument used was a reading fluency skills test assessed through a rubric covering aspects of pausing, intonation, vocal expression, and reading comprehension. Data analysis was conducted using a t-test, which showed a significance value (2-tailed) of 0.021 < 0.05, indicating a significant difference between the two groups. The study concludes that the application of the ORF model assisted by animated video significantly improves students’ reading fluency. The findings imply that the ORF model can serve as a strategic alternative in Indonesian language instruction to enhance literacy skills at the elementary school level.

Abstract

The phenomenon of foreign loanword usage in online communication among Indonesian adolescents reflects linguistic dynamics shaped by globalization and the advancement of digital technology. As active users of social media, adolescents exhibit a tendency to adopt foreign vocabulary, both consciously and unconsciously as a means of expressing identity, lifestyle, and the influence of popular culture. This study aims to analyze the forms, functions, and sociolinguistic factors underlying the use of foreign loanwords in Indonesian adolescents' online communication. A descriptive qualitative method with a sociolinguistic approach was employed. Data were collected through netnographic observation on social media platforms, documentation of online communication screenshots, and semi-structured interviews with adolescent social media users. The findings reveal that words such as literally, cringe, vibes, and FYI are used not only as adaptations to global trends but also serve as markers of social group identity and linguistic style perceived as modern and inclusive. The study concludes that the use of foreign loanwords in online communication signifies a shift in language norms among adolescents, influenced by social, cultural, and technological factors. The implications of this study highlight the need for Indonesian language education in schools to accommodate such phenomena within the framework of digital literacy and the development of critical language awareness in the global era.

Abstract

The limited implementation of mobile-based geospatial technology in Geography education forms the background of this study, despite its significant potential to enhance students' creativity and learning outcomes. This research aims to (1) analyze the effect of using QField for QGIS integrated with the Team Assisted Individualization (TAI) model on students' creativity, and (2) describe its impact on learning outcomes in the topic of basic mapping at SMAN 6 Solok Selatan. A quantitative approach was used with a quasi-experimental design. The sample was selected through purposive sampling, involving two classes—E2 as the experimental group and E4 as the control group. Data were collected through tests, questionnaires, observations, and documentation, and analyzed using normality and homogeneity tests, t-tests, and N-Gain calculations. The results indicate that integrating QField for QGIS with the TAI model significantly improves students' creativity (p < 0.05), shifting from the "moderately creative" to the "creative" category. N-Gain analysis shows an average learning outcome increase of 0.71 (high category) in the experimental class and 0.51 (moderate category) in the control class. The study concludes that integrating mobile-based geospatial applications with cooperative learning models is effective in enhancing students' creativity and academic performance in basic mapping materials. The findings support the implementation of adaptive technological innovations in Geography education in response to digital advancements.
