Abstract

The increasing participation of women in the workforce presents challenges in balancing professional and domestic responsibilities, particularly for working mothers who face dual roles. This study aims to analyze the relationship between flexible working arrangements and work-life balance among working mothers in Payakumbuh City. A quantitative correlational approach was employed, involving 115 respondents selected through accidental sampling. The research instruments included a work-life balance scale adapted from Gunawan et al. (2019), based on Fisher et al. (2009), and a flexible working arrangement scale developed based on Hill et al. (2001). Data were analyzed using the Pearson product-moment correlation test with SPSS version 25. The results show that the majority of respondents fell within the moderate category for both variables, and a positive and significant relationship was found between flexible working arrangements and work-life balance, with a significance value of 0.038 and a Pearson correlation coefficient of 0.194. These findings indicate that the implementation of flexible work systems, such as flexplace and flextime, contributes to reducing dual-role conflict and enhancing the psychological well-being and productivity of working mothers. This study offers practical implications for institutions, particularly in the public sector, to develop work policies that support the achievement of optimal work-life balance.

Abstract

The enforcement of informal or “shadow” terminal regulation represents a strategic effort to improve transportation order and safety in Padang City, particularly in the area in front of Universitas Negeri Padang (UNP). Although such terminals offer easier access for passengers and bus drivers, they also contribute to traffic congestion and reduced compliance with transportation regulations. This study aims to analyze the roles of stakeholders in the regulation of shadow terminals in front of UNP, identify supporting and inhibiting factors in policy implementation, and evaluate the effectiveness of inter-stakeholder collaboration. A qualitative descriptive method with a case study approach was employed, involving in-depth interviews with the Padang City Transportation Agency, Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP), Padang Utara Police Sector, bus company (PO) managers, bus drivers, and service users. The findings reveal that stakeholder roles fall into five categories: policy creator, coordinator, facilitator, implementer, and accelerator. The roles of implementers and coordinators are the most dominant, carried out through field inspections, ticketing, and supervision, while facilitators and accelerators contribute through internal coordination and feedback from service users. Inhibiting factors include low driver compliance, limited accessibility to official terminals, and insufficient infrastructure. Supporting factors include inter-stakeholder synergy, cross-agency coordination, and growing awareness among service users of the importance of transportation order. These findings offer valuable insights into stakeholder dynamics and provide strategic recommendations to enhance the effectiveness of shadow terminal enforcement in Padang City.

Abstract

The limited number of studies on the implementation of the cooperative learning model Team Games Tournament (TGT) in the context of chemistry education serves as the background for this research, particularly in addressing the issues of low student engagement and learning outcomes, which affect the overall effectiveness of classroom instruction. This study aims to improve the learning outcomes and engagement of Grade XI students on the topic of reaction rate through the application of the TGT cooperative learning model. The method used was Classroom Action Research (CAR), conducted in two cycles involving 35 students from Class XI Chemistry 4 at SMAN 3 Padang Panjang, selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through observations of learning activities during instruction and learning outcome tests administered at the end of each cycle. The data were analyzed using descriptive qualitative and quantitative methods. The findings show a significant improvement in student learning outcomes, with classical completeness increasing from 69% in the first cycle to 86% in the second, and student engagement rising from 54% to 77%. These results indicate that the TGT model is effective in enhancing both student achievement and active participation, aligning with cooperative learning theory, which emphasizes the role of social interaction and constructive competition in fostering motivation and conceptual understanding. This study contributes to the development of enjoyable and meaningful chemistry teaching strategies and recommends TGT as a promising alternative for increasing student involvement and achievement, while also encouraging further research on this model across different topics and educational levels.

Abstract

Teachers' difficulties in applying the scientific approach integrated with the Kurikulum Merdeka, particularly in junior high school mathematics instruction, constitute the central concern of this study. The research focuses on obtaining in-depth insights into the challenges faced by mathematics teachers at SMP Negeri 1 Sungguminasa, Gowa Regency. A qualitative approach was employed, involving two mathematics teachers as participants. The primary instrument was the researcher, supported by instructional module review sheets, classroom observation forms, and interview guides. The findings reveal that teachers face several challenges, including translating Learning Outcomes (Capaian Pembelajaran) into specific learning indicators, contextualizing mathematical content with developments in science and technology, managing classrooms effectively, providing varied learning media, motivating students to ask questions, facilitating access to learning resources, and delivering comprehensive content analysis and explanation. Teachers also reported difficulties in demonstrating abstract concepts, facilitating experiential observation-based activities, and guiding students to present their learning outcomes both orally and in written form. While both teachers demonstrated adequate readiness in lesson planning, they still require technical support—one in breaking down the Learning Objectives Sequence (Alur Tujuan Pembelajaran, ATP) into measurable indicators (Subject 1), and the other in developing student worksheets (Lembar Kerja Peserta Didik, LKPD) (Subject 2). The study concludes that continuous professional development and institutional support are essential to ensure a more effective and contextually relevant implementation of the Kurikulum Merdeka in mathematics education.

Abstract

This study focuses on a comprehensive evaluation of the weaving industry program in Gamplong Tourism Village using the CIPP model (Context, Input, Process, Product). A qualitative method was employed, with data collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and document analysis. Key informants were selected using purposive sampling to obtain relevant and in-depth information. The evaluation results show that, in terms of context, the weaving program benefits from strong social and cultural support as a generational heritage. The input aspect indicates the readiness of human resources and local community support for the program. In the process aspect, activities such as production, marketing, and integration with the tourism sector have been implemented as planned. Evaluation of the product aspect reveals that the weaving industry program has had a positive impact on the local economy and job creation. However, challenges remain in marketing due to market competition and limited funding for the sustainable development of the tourism village. These findings provide valuable insights for formulating strategies to strengthen the program by preserving successful elements and addressing identified weaknesses. The study recommends enhancing digital marketing capacity, strengthening partnerships, and diversifying woven products as strategic steps to support program sustainability.

Abstract

Instructional media is a key component in supporting the success of the teaching and learning process, as it can enhance students’ motivation and understanding of lesson content. This study aims to analyze the relationship between the use of instructional media and students’ motivation to learn history at SMA Negeri 1 Ranah Pesisir, Pesisir Selatan Regency, West Sumatra. A quantitative ex post facto approach was used, with data collected through questionnaires distributed to 68 Grade XII students. Data were analyzed using simple linear regression with the assistance of SPSS software. Descriptive analysis showed that most students expressed agreement (57.35%) or strong agreement (42.65%) regarding their motivation to learn history. Pearson correlation testing indicated a positive and significant relationship between the use of instructional media and students’ motivation to learn history, with a correlation coefficient of 0.670 and a significance level of 0.000 (< 0.05). These findings suggest that the more effectively instructional media is used, the higher students’ motivation to learn history. The study underscores the importance of utilizing and diversifying instructional media to increase student engagement, and encourages teachers to continuously innovate in media use to create more engaging and effective learning experiences.

Abstract

The limited number of studies analyzing the semiotics of Islamic educational values in TikTok content—particularly on the account of Husain Basyaiban—forms the background of this research, considering the significant impact of digital dakwah on Islamic education in the social media era. This study aims to analyze the values of akidah, syariah, and akhlak in Husain Basyaiban’s TikTok content through Roland Barthes’ semiotic approach, focusing on denotative, connotative, and mythological meanings. A qualitative content analysis method was used, with a sample of 16 videos selected through purposive sampling based on criteria such as viewer count, user engagement, and level of controversy. Data were collected through document observation and documentation, and analyzed based on Barthes’ three levels of meaning. The findings reveal that Husain Basyaiban’s TikTok content contains Islamic educational values distributed across three categories: akidah (6 videos), syariah (4 videos), and akhlak (6 videos). These results affirm that digital dakwah can serve as an effective medium for conveying Islamic messages creatively. However, there is a need to deepen the conveyed messages to ensure more comprehensive audience understanding, rather than relying solely on symbolic representation. This study contributes theoretically to the literature on semiotic-based digital dakwah, and practically recommends content optimization through collaboration with Islamic scholars and media literacy education for the public to promote wiser consumption of Islamic content. It also opens avenues for further research on the long-term impact of dakwah content on youth behavior in the digital age.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the low biographical text writing skills among Grade X students at SMA Negeri 2 Medan, which is partly attributed to the lack of variety in instructional models. The purpose of this research is to examine the effect of the Learning Cycle 7E model on students’ biographical writing skills. A quantitative method was used with a quasi-experimental design. The research sample consisted of 35 students selected through classify random sampling. Data were collected through observation, interviews, documentation, and writing tests. The results showed that the average student writing score increased from 71 before the treatment to 82 after the implementation of the Learning Cycle 7E model. The t-test revealed a result of tcount = 5.275 > ttable = 2.04, with a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05, indicating a significant effect of the Learning Cycle 7E model on students’ ability to write biographical texts. These findings suggest that the application of a learning model focused on exploration and reflection stages, such as Learning Cycle 7E, can serve as an innovative instructional strategy to effectively enhance students’ writing skills.

Abstract

The limited number of studies on the implementation of Social Studies (IPS) instruction based on local wisdom serves as the background of this research, despite the significant potential of such an approach in strengthening cultural identity and enhancing students’ understanding at the primary education level. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of using Wayang Kertas (Paper Puppets) as an instructional medium to improve students’ comprehension of historical content in Grade V at MI Nurul Falah Depok. The method employed is Classroom Action Research (CAR) with a collaborative reflective design over two cycles, involving 20 purposively selected students. Data were collected through observations of teacher and student activities, documentation of the learning process, and post-tests of student learning outcomes, which were analyzed using both quantitative descriptive and qualitative methods. The results indicate a significant improvement in learning mastery, from 11 students meeting the standard in Cycle I to all students achieving mastery in Cycle II. Teacher activity increased from 94% to 100%, while student activity rose from 89% to 100%. These findings support constructivist and contextual learning theories, emphasizing the importance of meaningful learning experiences rooted in students’ cultural backgrounds. The study concludes that Wayang Kertas is an effective medium for enhancing conceptual understanding of history and student engagement in Social Studies learning. Theoretically, this research contributes to the literature on integrating local wisdom into education, while practically, it offers recommendations for teachers to utilize culturally rooted media to create more active and meaningful learning environments. Furthermore, this study opens avenues for further exploration on the long-term impact of local wisdom-based learning on historical concept retention and character development in students.

Abstract

The limited number of studies on the use of interactive technology-based learning media—particularly Quizizz—in Ilmu Pengetahuan Alam dan Sosial (IPAS) instruction at madrasah ibtidaiyah forms the background of this research, considering the low learning outcomes and limited student participation in conventional learning, which impact the effectiveness of the teaching and learning process. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of using Quizizz in improving student learning outcomes and engagement in Grade V IPAS at MI Nurul Hidayah, Bogor Regency. The method employed is Classroom Action Research (CAR) conducted over two cycles, encompassing the stages of planning, action implementation, observation, and reflection, with 25 purposively selected students as research subjects. Data were collected through observations of teacher and student activities, as well as learning outcome tests in each cycle, and analyzed using descriptive quantitative and qualitative methods. The results showed an increase in the average learning outcomes from 49% in the pre-cycle to 76% in Cycle I and 81% in Cycle II. Classical mastery learning improved from 20% in the pre-cycle to 64% and 72% in each subsequent cycle. Teacher activity increased from 83% to 87%, and student participation from 81% to 87%. These findings align with constructivist theory and the gamification approach, which emphasize active engagement and enjoyable learning experiences in improving academic performance. Quizizz proved to offer an interactive experience through digital quizzes and instant feedback, enhancing student motivation, focus, and retention of IPAS content. The main conclusion of this study is that Quizizz-based learning media is effective in improving both learning outcomes and student participation. Theoretically, this research enriches the literature on digital technology integration in 21st-century education, while practically, it provides recommendations for teachers to utilize interactive media to create engaging, meaningful, and student-responsive learning environments. This study also opens pathways for future research comparing the effectiveness of various digital learning platforms on student motivation and long-term retention.
