Polystyrene (PS) microplastics from styrofoam waste are persistent contaminants that are difficult to degrade naturally in aquatic environments and require effective extraction methods for analysis and mitigation. This study aims to determine the optimal conditions of Fe(II) concentration and heating temperature in the Wet Peroxide Oxidation (WPO) method for extracting PS microplastics, as well as to identify their functional groups and elemental composition. The method involved treating polluted water samples using WPO solution consisting of Fe(II) as a catalyst and 30% H₂O₂ as an oxidizing agent, with Fe(II) concentrations of 0.075 M, 0.1 M, and 0.125 M, and heating temperatures of 60°C, 75°C, and 90°C. Microplastic identification was conducted using FTIR and XRF instruments. The results showed that the optimal Fe(II) concentration was 0.125 M, yielding 1.27 grams of microplastics, while the optimal temperature was 60°C, yielding 2.58 grams of microplastics. FTIR characterization confirmed the presence of characteristic PS functional groups, including C-H bending of the benzene ring at 753.22 cm⁻¹ and aliphatic C-H stretching at 2919.27 cm⁻¹, which were also detected in samples from enclosed environments. XRF analysis under optimal conditions indicated that the elemental composition of the extracted microplastics was not entirely pure due to residual contaminants. These findings confirm the effectiveness of the WPO method for extracting PS microplastics under optimized operational conditions.

This study addresses the limited application of GGMPlus satellite gravity data for regional and residual anomaly separation in geothermal exploration within Indonesia. The research aims to separate and analyze gravity anomalies to elucidate subsurface geological structures in Panti District, Pasaman Regency, West Sumatra. A quantitative-descriptive approach with an exploratory design was employed, utilizing secondary gravity data from the GGMPlus model comprising 4,537 measurement points at 200-meter intervals. Data processing involved Bouguer correction, Fourier transformation, and the application of a bandpass filter using Oasis Montaj software. The complete Bouguer anomaly in the study area ranges from –37.5 to –25.6 mGal. Frequency-based separation yielded regional anomalies ranging from –37.3 to –25.8 mGal, while residual anomalies varied between –0.77 and 0.72 mGal. The residual anomalies are interpreted as responses from shallow subsurface features, including sedimentary rocks and potential geothermal reservoirs. In contrast, the regional anomalies are associated with deeper geological structures, such as faults and intrusive bodies. These findings demonstrate that frequency-domain filtering provides an effective means of enhancing the interpretability of satellite-derived gravity data in geothermal investigations. The study confirms the utility of GGMPlus data and spectral filtering techniques in delineating subsurface targets and improving geophysical assessments for geothermal resource exploration.

Fly ash, a byproduct of coal combustion produced continuously, poses significant environmental risks if not utilized effectively. Its high silica content presents potential for conversion into silica xerogel, which can function as an adsorbent for heavy metal ions such as Cr³⁺. This study aims to analyze the SiO₂ content in synthesized silica xerogel using X-Ray Fluorescence (XRF) analysis and to determine its optimum adsorption capacity based on variations in pH and Cr³⁺ ion concentration. Optimization was carried out at varying pH levels (2–6) and concentrations (100–300 ppm). XRF analysis revealed that the SiO₂ content in fly ash pretreated with 3M HCl was 54.167%, while the synthesized silica xerogel exhibited an increased SiO₂ content of 69.09%, with a %yield of 54.825%, indicating a relatively high silica purity. Adsorption tests showed maximum adsorption capacity at pH 4 and a Cr³⁺ concentration of 200 ppm, reaching 26.76 mg/g. The adsorption isotherm followed the Langmuir model with a determination coefficient of R² = 0.9509, indicating a strong fit between the model and the experimental data. These findings suggest that silica xerogel derived from fly ash holds promise as an effective adsorbent for heavy metal wastewater treatment. This study is motivated by ongoing doubts regarding the effectiveness of the Program Keluarga Harapan (PKH), a conditional cash transfer initiative by the government aimed at alleviating poverty among low-income families. The objective of the research is to assess the effectiveness of PKH cash assistance in empowering Keluarga Penerima Manfaat (KPM) or beneficiary families in Talaga Village, Cikupa Subdistrict, Tangerang Regency. A descriptive qualitative approach was used, with data collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The findings indicate that the PKH program has been moderately effective in both economic and social empowerment. Its effectiveness is reflected in the accurate targeting of beneficiaries, achievement of program goals, frequency of outreach, and continuity of monitoring efforts. The PKH funds have contributed to meeting the basic needs of KPMs, particularly in education and health sectors. However, challenges remain, including limited community understanding of the program's objectives and instances of misallocation of funds. The study concludes that while PKH has had a positive impact on empowering KPMs, its effectiveness still requires improvement through enhanced outreach, supervision, and the integration of sustainable supporting programs. The implications provide strategic input for local governments and program implementers to improve governance and optimize the benefits of PKH.
