Abstract

The global fisheries supply chain remains vulnerable to opaque recruitment, worker-paid fees, unclear contracts, forced-labour risks, and limited access to protection, particularly for migrant fishers. This international community service activity aimed to transform lessons from the Regional Workshop on Strengthening Compliance and Addressing Labour Issues in the Fishing Sector Supply Chain into academic knowledge, teaching materials, and initial recommendations for fair and ethical recruitment from a Sharia Human Resource Management perspective. The activity was implemented through professional participation, knowledge transfer, and structured reflection at Eastin Grand Hotel Sathorn, Bangkok, on 4–5 June 2026. The beneficiaries include lecturers, students, Islamic economics academics, human resource practitioners, employers’ associations, fisheries companies, recruitment agencies, worker organisations, policymakers, and communities concerned with labour migration and worker protection. Data were drawn from the institutional assignment letter, workshop agenda and materials, participatory notes, photographs, panel discussions, official documents, and relevant literature. A reflective-thematic analysis was applied through information reduction, thematic grouping, interpretation, cross-checking, and integration with Sharia principles. The activity produced a labour-issue map, a matrix linking international recruitment standards with amanah, ‘adl, ṣidq, transparency, hifẓ al-nafs, hifẓ al-māl, hifẓ al-‘irḍ, and maslahah, as well as academic dissemination materials and follow-up recommendations. The findings indicate that international labour standards and Sharia ethics share a common orientation toward transparency, prevention of harm, protection of dignity, and sustainable business. The activity contributes a reflective framework rather than statistical generalisation and provides a basis for teaching, research, policy briefs, and future stakeholder engagement.

Abstract

The development of digital technology requires MSMEs to transform in order to remain competitive. Eka Snack, a small snack food enterprise, faces three main challenges: suboptimal digital marketing, a manual cash-based transaction system, and low business visibility on digital platforms. This mentoring program aims to drive Eka Snack's digital transformation through a comprehensive business feasibility study approach. Implementation methods consist of four stages: preparation, execution, mentoring and evaluation, and follow-up. Solutions applied include marketing optimization via Instagram, TikTok, Shopee, and Tokopedia; implementation of a QRIS-based digital payment system; and improved business visibility through Google Maps. Results demonstrate increased marketing reach, transaction efficiency, and digital visibility for Eka Snack. Business owners also gained improved digital literacy supporting more professional and sustainable business management. This program contributes to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically Goal 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) and Goal 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure).

Abstract

Infancy is a critical period of growth and development that requires appropriate stimulation, including complementary infant massage therapy. However, community health cadres often have limited knowledge regarding proper infant massage techniques, reducing the effectiveness of health education delivered to parents. This community service program aimed to improve the knowledge and practical skills of community health cadres regarding complementary infant massage therapy in Tellu Siattinge District, Bone Regency. The program involved fifteen health cadres from Otting Village, Lanca Village, Ulo Village, and Palongki Village. Activities included health education, demonstrations using infant mannequins, supervised practice, and evaluation through pretest and posttest assessments. The findings indicated a substantial improvement in participants' knowledge following the intervention. Before the training, most participants demonstrated moderate knowledge (66.67%), whereas after the intervention, 80.00% achieved good knowledge, and no participant remained in the poor knowledge category. Participants also demonstrated appropriate infant massage techniques during practical evaluations. These findings indicate that practice-based cadre empowerment effectively improves cadres' competence in educating parents regarding infant massage. Sustainable training programs are recommended to strengthen community-based promotive and preventive health services.

Abstract

Limited knowledge of pregnancy exercise may reduce pregnant women's physical and psychological readiness for childbirth. This community service program aimed to improve the knowledge and practical skills of third-trimester pregnant women regarding pregnancy exercise as preparation for healthy and safe childbirth. The program applied a Participatory Action Approach through health education, demonstrations, supervised practice, interactive discussions, and evaluation using a one-group pretest-posttest design. Participants were third-trimester pregnant women from Ulo and Lanca Villages within the working area of Tellu Siattinge Community Health Center, Bone Regency, Indonesia. Knowledge and skills were assessed before and after the intervention to evaluate its effectiveness. The results showed a substantial improvement in participants' understanding of pregnancy exercise, with the proportion of women categorized as having good knowledge increasing from 21.4% before the intervention to 78.6% afterward. Furthermore, no participants remained in the poor knowledge category following the program. Participants also demonstrated improved practical skills in performing pregnancy exercise correctly under supervision. These findings indicate that integrating health education with demonstrations and hands-on practice is an effective strategy for enhancing pregnant women's knowledge and skills. This approach can strengthen maternal preparedness for childbirth and support efforts to promote healthy, safe, and positive pregnancy outcomes through community-based maternal health education programs.

Abstract

The acceleration of digital transformation and business legality has become an urgency for the economic resilience of rural MSMEs in the Industry 4.0 era. However, food-crafting MSMEs in Kedungdowo Village, Situbondo, experience market reach stagnation due to low digital literacy, reliance on reactive conventional marketing, and a lack of formal business permits. This community service aims to transform the partners' business ecosystem through the Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) approach to break the deficit mentality and incubate business independence. The structured implementation consisted of local asset identification, financial governance training, marketing digitalization, and door-to-door legality mentoring. Intervention results demonstrate a measurable increase in operational capabilities. In absolute terms, 100% (10 MSMEs) successfully adopted WhatsApp Business and Google Maps as their digital storefront infrastructure. Furthermore, institutional legitimacy increased significantly, with 100% of partners securing a Business Identification Number (NIB) and 60% obtaining Home Industry Food (P-IRT) permits. This digital transformation, the application of intellectual honesty-based copywriting techniques, and the improvement in Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) governance precision directly correlated to an average sales volume surge of 35% post-intervention. In conclusion, the harmonious integration of technological acceleration, managerial and financial literacy, and legal compliance proved crucial and effective in shifting the mindset of rural MSMEs from mere informal entities to a resilient, responsive, and sovereign digital business ecosystem amid disruption.

Abstract

Primary dysmenorrhea is one of the most common reproductive health problems experienced by female university students and may adversely affect academic performance and quality of life. Students' competence in performing self-management of dysmenorrhea through evidence-based non-pharmacological interventions still needs to be strengthened to enable them to manage menstrual pain independently and to prepare them for their future roles as healthcare professionals. This community service program aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of implementing Evidence-Based Nursing through abdominal effleurage massage and acupressure in optimizing students' competence in the self-management of primary dysmenorrhea. The participants were second-year students of the Diploma III Nursing Study Program at Institut Batari Toja Bone who experienced primary dysmenorrhea and were selected using a purposive sampling technique. Data were collected using the Visual Analog Scale (VAS) to assess pain intensity and a competency checklist to evaluate students' practical skills. The expected outcomes of this program were improved student competence in the self-management of primary dysmenorrhea and reduced pain intensity following the application of abdominal effleurage massage and acupressure. This community service program is expected to provide a foundation for the development of complementary nursing education based on Evidence-Based Nursing.
