Abstract

The main focus of this writing is to explore the wealth of local wisdom in Manggarai, namely the philosophical meaning behind Go’et Toe salang tuak-wae teku tedengin the relationship between Anak Rona and Anak Wina. The process of exploration and deepening is carried out in the light of Armada Riyanto's Philosophy of Relationality. In this context, the philosophical concept of Armada Riyanto serves as a dissecting tool that aids the author in understanding the go’et Toe salang tuak-wae teku tedengwithin the framework of relationality. This deepening effort is based on the phenomenon of a shift in the meaning of belis that has an impact on the fracture of their relationship. In response to this phenomenon, the author introduces the philosophical concept of go’et Toe salang tuak-wae teku tedengas an effort to clarify the perspective on the meaning of belis among the Manggarai people. The method used is a qualitative approach, namely literature review. This writing finds that the relationship between Anak Rona and Anak Wina will be harmonious when the understanding of belis is not reduced to an attempt to impoverish one party but rather to the respect for the mother's womb that has given birth to life in this world.

Abstract

This article discusses the comparison of two ancient philosophies, Yoga and Stoicism, in terms of how these two defines happiness and offers a guide to achieving it. Yoga, originally from India, focuses on the unification of body, mind, and soul through sadhana aṣṭāṅgayoga. Stoicism, originating in Greece, emphasizes the importance of virtue and self-control in achieving inner peace. Although different in origin and approach, these two philosophies have much in common in terms of purpose. Both Yoga and Stoicism offer a path to happiness that does not depend on external circumstances, but on internal changes in the way we think, say and act. This article compares and analyzes key concepts in both philosophies, such as virtue, self-control, and inner peace. Through this research, it shows that the philosophy of Yoga and Stoicism can offer useful strategies for individuals seeking happiness and meaning in life. This research uses qualitative methods with library-based research.

Abstract

Individual resilience is the ability possessed by someone to be able to recover and manage their emotions from the life problems they face. Fear of Missing Out (FoMO) is a psychological problem often experienced by social media users, in the form of anxiety due to missing trends, information, moments of other people's lives or other things outside themselves. Individuals with good self-resilience will be better able to overcome FoMO. There are various factors that influence individual resilience, for example, external factors can be in the form of cultural, religious or philosophical values embraced by the individual concerned. In this article, the author is interested in offering a view of Aristotle's teleological ethics in relation to the formation of individual resilience to FoMO. This research uses a phenomenological approach and elements of the philosophical method, namely: interpretation, critical reflection, holistic and descriptive. The results obtained show that Aristotle's teleological ethics emphasizes that humans as rational beings are fully responsible for their own lives, namely to actualize all the potential they have to act in harmony with moral virtues and solely for the sake of achieving the ultimate goal of happiness. Thus, there is no reason for individuals to worry about things outside themselves and ignore their own potential and goals.

Abstract

In this day and age of instant gratification, many people weigh a decision by the value of enjoyment. Obviously, this kind of judgment is very superficial and artificial. Judgment should be based on noble values. In his hierarchy of values theory, Max Scheler suggests that there are four hierarchies of values, namely the value of pleasure, the value of life or vitality, spiritual value, and the value of holiness. The lowest hierarchy is pleasure value and the highest is holiness value. This value must exist in life, as it is the meaning behind actions. This can be seen in “the parable of the Prodigal Son” (Lk 15:11-24) told by Jesus to the tax collectors and sinners. There is a hierarchy of values revealed in the characterizations and inner journeys of the characters. By exploring the text of Luke 15:11-24 and juxtaposing it with Max Scheler's hierarchy of values theory, the author hopes to help everyone in this instant age to consider things more from the most noble values. There are two methods used in writing this text, namely literature study and hermeneutics. This method is expected to help the author in analyzing and interpreting the text in detail and holistically. Broadly speaking, the author found that the character of the Youngest Child experienced an increase in the appreciation of values, starting from the value of pleasure, to spiritual values. The text closes with the appreciation of the value of holiness by the Father. In other words, this text provides a complete appreciation of values from Max Scheler's hierarchy of values.

Abstract

The value of religious moderation plays an important role in maintaining harmony in multicultural life which is very close to conflict due to differences. The value of religious moderation takes a middle path to the strong pluralism bias in society. Nowadays, strengthening the value of religious moderation is one of the main targets in government work programs, especially at the Ministry of Religion. The internalization of the value of religious moderation is not only starting to be included in the educational curriculum but is also being structured in the general public, for example through activities related to public issues. One of these activities is the Bali Youth Conference which was initiated by the BasaBali Wiki Foundation to increase community participation, especially millennials, in responding to public issues in society, including issues of tolerance and diversity. This research aims to describe strengthening the value of religious moderation through youth participation in solving public issues. The methods used in this research are observation, interviews, and document analysis. The results obtained are the youth's understanding of forming a pathway for solving public issues in society, including issues of pluralism. Abstract

Hedonism is a view that prioritizes the pursuit of happiness and pleasure as the main goal in life. While this concept is appealing to some, it is not without its critics. Hedonism is often criticized as leading to a less meaningful life. If the only goal is to seek pleasure and avoid suffering, then it can neglect the deeper and more meaningful aspects of life, such as devotion to others, and the development of ethics and morality. One criticism of the hedonistic lifestyle comes from the thoughts of Arthur Schopenhauer. Therefore, with a qualitative method and a philosophical hermeneutic approach, the results of this study show that Arthur Schopenhauer views life as a series of sufferings, humans suffer because of their will. The effort in finding happiness in Schopenhauer's view is to control the will. Happiness cannot be measured in terms of physical pleasures such as food, drink, or entertainment and luxury goods. However, true happiness arises from asceticism and the denial of the will. The hedonistic lifestyle for Schopenhauer is a futile behavior, because it actually brings humans to the brink of suffering.

Abstract

Religious life in Indonesia is an important aspect of people's life. However, in reality, religious life in Indonesia still faces various challenges, such as intolerance, discrimination and violence. Intolerance is an intolerant attitude towards different views or beliefs. Discrimination is unfair treatment of a person or group based on their religion. Violence is an action that causes physical or psychological harm to a person or group based on their religion. Thomas Aquinas' metaphysical perspective on religious life can provide useful insights for understanding and overcoming these challenges. Aquinas emphasized the importance of the nature or essence of a thing. This essence is something that is inherent in something and cannot change. In the context of religious life, this essence can be interpreted as basic values that form the basis for good religious practice. Based on Aquinas' perspective, intolerance, discrimination and violence are religious practices that are not in accordance with its essence. These practices conflict with universal basic values, such as the values of truth, goodness and justice. The purpose of writing this article is to reflect the reality of religious life in Indonesia from the metaphysical perspective of Thomas Aquinas. The method used in writing this article is a qualitative bibliographic method by searching books as primary sources and articles as secondary sources. The results found in writing this article are various problems in religious life in Indonesia which are basically a lack of awareness to use reason in believing. Finally, it can be concluded that respect for differences in religious life to create a harmonious relationship will be achieved if Indonesian people use reason in their faith.
