Abstract

Employee well-being is crucial thing to performance and organizational success which has been studied extensively in the field of industrial and organizational psychology. Those employees with higher levels of well-being are less probable to quit and are typically more productive at the workplace. Therefore, the objective of this research is to examine the effect of several demographic factors on well-being such as life satisfaction among industrial female operators. There were 313 employees of an electronic component manufacturing company who participated in this research. A Life Satisfaction Scale consisting of five questions regarding the global cognitive evaluation of one's life was administered. The collected demographic factors were age, tenure, department or division, and dependents. The results indicated that tenure and marital status were related to life satisfaction. Those who are married and work longer in the company have a higher level of satisfaction than their peers. Meanwhile, the age, department, and dependents were not significant determinants of life satisfaction. Our research indicates the importance of implementing various strategies to improve life satisfaction, especially among newly recruited employees.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to examine the effect of social media on students' academic performance. The case study is based on the academic performance of students majoring in business administration at a higher education institution in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. A conceptual framework was developed from previous research which includes social media information, social media innovation, social media entertainment, social media knowledge generation, and student performance. Quantitative methods were used to distribute questionnaires to 376 respondents. A multistage sampling technique was conducted by nonprobability sampling, using judgmental sampling to select university students, quota sampling to calculate the sample size, and convenience sampling to distribute the questionnaire online, using several popular social networks. Before collecting data, the Index of Item-Objective Congruence (IOC) was used to validate the constructs. Factor loadings and Cronbach's alpha were tested for reliability, using 50 respondents as a pilot study, single and multiple linear regressions were applied to test hypotheses, and correlation matrices were used to identify variable relationships. The results indicated that social media information, social media innovation, and social media entertainment have a strong effect on social media knowledge creation. In addition, social media knowledge creation has a strong impact on student performance.

Abstract

The communication is very important in business. The good communication between producers, distributors, and consumers will increase the effectiveness of entrepreneurial activities. This research aims to examine the factors which affected management students’ understanding of English terminology in Management reports. The qualitative descriptive analysis is used in this research since it aims to describe a phenomenon and its characteristics. The sample population in this research consists of 151 students enrolled in first semester of 2022-2023 academic year at Management Department of Economics and Business faculty at Universitas Wijaya Kusuma Surabaya. Based on the research result, the management students’ ability to comprehend the English vocabulary used in business reports depends on several things, including students’ limited command of English, their desire to learn English to support their comprehension of foreign languages, and their limited access to sources of information about the English terms used in business reports. The most effective way to understanding English terminology in management report is to translate the English terminology into the local tongue using cultural factors, context, and translation techniques to produce word harmonization in local tongue.

The Regional Representative Council or DPD is an institution that represents the region as a state institution. After the bicameral parliamentary structure was established, the idea of bicameral became both strengthened and weakened. This research aims to identify the situation of the Regional Representative Council according to the 1945 Constitutional amendment and the weaknesses of the Regional Representative Council in implementing its legislative function. The type of research used in this legal research is descriptive-analytical with an evaluative normative juridical approach. The findings of the research identified that the situation of the Regional Representative Council, according to the 1945 Constitutional amendment, caused several changes in its position, members, functions, term of office, as well as its relationship with the House of Representatives. On the other hand, the weaknesses of the Regional Representative Council in implementing its legislative function were caused by its’ limited authorities, its’ unequal position with the House of Representatives, and its consideration, which was not even being considered by the House of Representatives as the House of Representatives was not obligated to, its' non-exclusive status, and its’ potentially conflict of interest.

Abstract

The issue of news values is a great concern in news content spreading on social media platforms. One of the social media platforms that encourages content creators to create news content is the Snack Video platform. The management of Snack Video’s platform enforces strict rules that must be adhered to by all its users to ensure that all content created by content creators has news value. This qualitative research aims to identify the interpretations of these news value rules by using Shannon and Weaver’s message transmission model. This research is using literature as a data collection technique while applying the phenomenological method to explain how audio-visual content is used to disseminate information through social media. The findings of the research identified that the use of regulations conveyed by the transmission of this message is proven to increase the quality of news content in Snack Video through the meaning of all content creators towards the rules established by Snack Video management. The Snack Video management also found to have made several special requirements for each news content which would be checked manually by the agency team using quality parameters that have been determined in detail.

Abstract

Nowadays, the traditional art of masks from Indramayu can still be found in various art forms, such as mask dance and mask puppetry. In its development, the art of mask tradition was adapted to the medium of film. When adapted into the medium of film, the mask dance performance art changes its function to become part of the educational media and part of the cultural tourism promotion in fulfilling the need to maintain the existence of the traditional art of masks to remain sustainable. This research aims to see the changes that occur and the meanings that arise from the traditional art adapted from mask dance into a movie entitled Klana Udeng Mask and identify the philosophical meanings in the movie. To comprehend the changes and meanings from the traditional art adapted from mask dance into a movie entitled Klana Udeng Mask, the researcher uses qualitative research using visual semiotics. In this research, the movie Klana Udeng Mask is interpreted with a semiotic approach from Roland Barthes. The movie Klana Udeng Mask has a philosophical meaning about gratitude and maintaining the relationship between humans and God Almighty. This philosophical meaning is evident in the opening scene of the mask dancers praying to God Almighty and the closing scene of them performing grateful praying movements to God Almighty. Changes in semiotic meaning in the Klana Udeng Mask movie affect the visual signs of the elements in the movie.
