Abstract

Tani The Kampung Susun Bayam Farmers Group is a community dealing with housing rights issues, forcing them to live without essential services, such as water and electricity. This research aims to document their daily lives amid the water and electricity crisis that followed the construction of the Jakarta International Stadium. The method employed is qualitative with The study adopts a practice-based research approach, aiming to acquire new knowledge through direct practice. Writer using ohoto story style  utilizing its nine elements to create a coherent narrative. Fifteen photo works were presented using the polyptychs technique, aligning photos in diptychs and triptychs. This research focuses specifically on the Kampung Susun Bayam residents facing the water and electricity crisis, but it can be expanded to explore their lives after relocation.

Abstract

The Indonesian Textile Museum is one of the museums in Jakarta that stores thousands of collections of Nusantara wastra. The Textile Museum functions as a place to preserve, store, exhibit, and publicize wastra or ancient fabrics from various regions, and become a means of education for visitors to get to know traditional Indonesian fabrics. In order for information about traditional fabrics in the Textile Museum to be conveyed well to visitors, one of the factors that play an important role is the layout of the museum display information (label). Labels on exhibition displays have an important role because they become a bridge of communication between the products on display and the visitors who see. Therefore, the layout of the display information must be taken seriously, by applying ergonomics, anthropometry, and typography factors. This study aims to determine the label layout system on displays at the Textile Museum, associated with the application of ergonomics, anthropometry, and typography factors. The method used is descriptive qualitative with ergonomics and anthropometry approach to analyze the display label layout system. The results showed that the position of the product description label had not fully applied ergonomic and anthropometric factors, as well as the selection of fonts and sizes that caused the product description to be less legible.

Abstract

Batik is an Indonesian culture that is full of richness. Throughout Indonesia, various types of batik are found with distinctive motifs and techniques, reflecting the history, culture, and traditions of the local community. One of the regions in Indonesia that has extraordinary batik wealth is Banyumas, located in Central Java. Banyumas batik is a cultural heritage that has a cultural acculturation, namely inland batik and coastal batik, each of which has a long historical influence, unique motifs, and distinctive craftsmanship techniques. The purpose of this study is to design a coffee table book that can effectively introduce Banyumas Batik culture to the millennial generation. The method of field observation and structured interviews with sources with William Kwan Hwie Liong to obtain primary data on the characteristics of Banyumas batik and its history, and the distribution of questionnaires was carried out online to 100 millennials to obtain secondary data. The results of the study are a coffee table book that shows the importance of introducing the richness of Banyumas batik to the millennial generation and using aesthetic and attractive visual elements so that they can be more interested.

Abstract

This article discusses the role of sculpture as a medium for documenting political, social, and cultural transformations at the Lima Gunung Museum. The sculptures in this museum not only represent visual beauty, but also function as symbolic reflections on socio-political issues. Case studies of works such as Gus Semar Gunung, Cocot Kencono, Cicak vs Buaya, and Sinar Hati Gus Dur present critiques of phenomena such as pluralism, the post-truth era, power conflicts, and cultural acculturation. Through an aesthetic analysis approach based on AA Djelantik's theory, this article shows how sculpture can be a documentation tool that preserves historical narratives visually, conveys universal social criticism, and triggers dialogue with audiences. Documentation through sculpture provides an important contribution to understanding the dynamics of Indonesian society and politics, making art a bridge between aesthetic values ​​and social messages.

Abstract

Padepokan Tjipta Boedaja in Tutup Ngisor Village, Magelang, is a traditional arts centre that has been running since 1937. As a collective space, the pavilion is a place for art preservation, social cohesion, and expression of cultural values. This research explores the aesthetic and social meanings of the pendopo using Y.B. Mangunwijaya's aesthetic theory. Through a qualitative approach and descriptive-analytical method, this research reveals the design elements of the pendopo that reflect the Nusantara philosophy, such as Gupala, Dewi Saraswati, and Yaksa Kala Liman ornaments, as well as the social function of the pendopo as an open and inclusive space. The results show that pendopo not only functions as a physical space, but also as a symbolic medium that strengthens cultural identity, supports art preservation, and builds community solidarity. This study provides a new perspective in understanding spatial design as an integral part of cultural preservation and social life.

Abstract

Light in photography serves as a fundamental element in capturing objects, with its characteristics influenced by the type of light used. This study explores light experimentation as an artistic subject through a structured fine art photography creation method that emphasizes visual aesthetics. The experiment utilizes artificial light combined with color filters and reflected on various surfaces, both reflective and absorptive. This technique enables an exploration of light-object interactions, creating unique visual effects. The abstract expressionist approach in this experiment positions light as the primary medium in shaping artistic compositions. Through long exposure, light moves freely within the frame, generating dynamic gradients of color, form, and lines. This study aims to introduce new perspectives in fine art photography and contribute to the development of experimental methods in contemporary photography.

Abstract

Gayungan Village has a variety of facilities and community services, such as village offices, places of worship, health centers, schools, and other public facilities. Some of the flagship programs owned by Gayungan village are community development and empowerment, including economic factors, socio-cultural factors, the environment and others. On the other hand, there is a serious problem that can threaten the young generation in Gayungan village, namely drugs. There is no media as a reminder as well as prevention about the dangers of drugs around Gayungan village. With the emergence of these problems, it is hoped that the younger generation in Gayungan sub distric will stay away from these prohibited items. The data collected through field observations and interviews. This study it uses 5W1H data analysis techniques in accordance with the needs of the problems being researched to determine effective and communicative Community Service Advertisements.

Abstract

Keraton merupakan tempat tinggal bagi raja dan keluarganya pada bangunan diposisi sentral. Menurut Agustina (2013;2014) Keraton dalam pandangan kosmologis merupakan pusat kekuatan gaib yang berpengaruh pada seluruh kehidupan masyarakat.begitu pula dengan susunan keruangan keraton di Jawa mengadaptasi kepada susunan Gunung Mahameru, yaitu ada daerah puncak dengan anak gunungnya. Puncak Gunung adalah bangunan inti yang melambangkan gunung Mahameru. Hirarki ruang ditunjukkan dengan penaikkan lantai dimana ruang yang paling sakral adalah bangunan induk yang merupakan bangunan yang berada di level tertinggi. Pada Keraton Kacirebonan bangunan dengan level tertinggi adalah Bangunan Induk terdapat bangsal Prabayaksa tempat diselenggarakannya acara sakral. Sedangkan bangunan lainnya berada pada level yang lebih rendah. Hasil Observasi awal memperlihatkan adanya pergeseran fungsi ruang dalam pada Keraton Kacirebonan dari fungsi awalnya, beberapa ruang beralih fungsi menjadi area komersil bahkan beberapa ruang tidak difungsikan sebagaimana mestinya. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui perubahan fungsi ruang apa saja dalam Keraton Kacirebonan yang berubah dari wujud tradisionalnya. Harapannya adalah agar fungsi dan nilai tradisi Keraton sebelumnya sebagai simbol budaya dapat dipertahakan serta dilestarikan.

Abstract

Furniture design for mass production & export orientation is complex innature, tend to have a lot of revisions, thus require a lot investment in fund,time, and effort. There are 2 research issue: 1) Mistakes in design proposalsoften occurred (size, construction, style, finishing, price), can not match withfactory production capacity, or buyer’s market target. In this case, factoriesare suppliers of research partner 1 (CS), and buyer is research partner 2(Homelegance). Second issue: 2) Designer’s idea often surrounds in designaesthetic alone, disregard the A-Z aspect in supply & demand chain of amass-produced furniture (production, marketing, packing, shipping, etc).This research uses qualitative research model with many case studies, andapplies 3 methods: 1) divergent convergent iterative design method; 2) 2D &3D database from CS; 3) considering US market response fromHomelegance. This research aims to: 1) providing ways and recommendationfor stakeholder to reduce revisions (time & cost saving), 2) producingdesigns with export oriented quality, 3) providing design insights foracademics about furniture design from early to final phase. Research output(furniture samples) are stored in multiple supplier’s warehouse.

Abstract

AbstractAdvances in technology today have implications for the variety of media used to support the needs of the community. One of them is photography. Indonesia is a multicultural country including religion in it. So, how can Indonesia become the largest Muslim country when Indonesia was colonized for centuries by non-Muslims. The purpose of this study is to prove traces of Islamic civilization can be seen through documentary evidence in the form of photos, by utilizing the art of photography as a form of modern visual art that utilizes art and technology. This research was conducted through descriptive qualitative method. By observing an object to be analyzed. The results of the research itself prove the existence of documentation that can be evidence of the existence of Islam in Indonesia. In conclusion, photography is able to provide views to the public about the differences that exist in each image produced. Both in the form of patterns, colors, shapes, etc. And this proves that Islam was present and united in the archipelago long before the invaders came to the archipelago. In fact, Islam has entered and merged into the culture of the local community.AbstrakKemajuan teknologi saat ini berimplikasi terhadap ragamnya media yang digunakan dalam menunjang kebutuhan masyarakat. Salah satunya fotografi. Negara Indonesia merupakan Negara multikultural termasuk agama didalamnya. Lantas, bagaimanakah Indonesia bisa menjadi Negara muslim terbesar sedangakan Indonesia dijajah selama berabad-abad oleh orang-orang non muslim. Tujuan dari penelitian ini untuk membuktikan jejak peradaban islam dapat dilihat melalui bukti dokumentasi berupa foto, dengan memanfaat seni fotografi sebagai wujud seni visual modern yang memanfaatkan seni dan teknologi. Penelitian ini dilakukan melalui metode kualitatif deskriptif. Dengan mengamti sebuah objek untuk dianalisis. Hasil dari pneleitian sendiri membuktikan adanya dokumentasi yang dapat menjadi bukti keberadaan islam di Indonesia. Kesimpulannya, Fotografi mampu memberikan pandangan kepada masyarakaat tentang perbedaan yang ada pada setiap gambar yang dihasilakan. Baik berupa corak, warna bentuk dll. Dan Hal tersebut membuktikan bahwa, Islam telah hadir dan menyatu di Nusantara jauh sebelum penjajah mendatangi Nusnatara. Bahkan, islam telah masuk dan bergabung kedalam kebudyaan masyarakat setempat.
