Abstract

This study examines the integrated learning evaluation system implemented at the Modern Islamic Boarding School of Tarbiyah Islamiyah (PPMTI) Tanjung Barulak, Kampar Regency, Riau. As a semi-modern Islamic boarding school, PPMTI faces challenges in integrating traditional Islamic boarding school evaluation methods with modern evaluation approaches. This descriptive qualitative study aims to analyze how teachers assess students in integrated learning that combines the Islamic boarding school curriculum and the national curriculum. Data were collected through participatory observation, in-depth interviews with 12 teachers, and analysis of evaluation documents during the period March-May 2025. The results of the study indicate that PPMTI implements a holistic evaluation system that includes three main aspects: (1) cognitive evaluation through written and oral tests, (2) affective evaluation through observation of daily attitudes and morals, and (3) psychomotor evaluation through worship practices and skills. The findings indicate that the integration of traditional and modern evaluations results in a more comprehensive assessment of the development of students, but there are still challenges in standardizing and documenting evaluation results.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the Numbered Heads Together (NHT) method on improving student learning outcomes in Fiqh learning. The background of this study is based on the low student learning outcomes in Fiqh subjects and the minimal use of learning methods that involve active student participation. This study uses a quantitative approach with a one-group pretest-posttest design, namely one class consisting of 38 students is used as a sample. The instrument used is a learning outcome test given before and after treatment. Data analysis was carried out through the Shapiro-Wilk normality test and the paired sample t-test. The results showed a significant increase in student learning outcomes after the application of the NHT method. The average pretest score of 60.74 increased to 75.79 in the posttest. The paired sample t-test showed a significance value of 0.000 <0.05, which means there is a significant difference between before and after treatment. Thus, it can be concluded that the NHT method has a positive effect on improving student learning outcomes in Fiqh subjects. This finding provides recommendations for educators to use the NHT method as an alternative in improving learning effectiveness.

Abstract

The managerial role of the school principal plays an essential part in leading the sustainability of the school to achieve its educational goals. However, there are still many school principals who have not fully implemented the appropriate actions to achieve these goals, especially in terms of instilling character values that emphasize moral and ethical principles, such as the value of love and affection. This study aims to describe the managerial role of the school principal in instilling the value of love and affection in elementary school settings. The value of love and affection is crucial as a foundation for the development of students' character, which not only plays a role in academic achievements but also in shaping behaviors that are ethical and moral in society. This research uses a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques through observation and in-depth interviews. The subjects of the research include the school principal and several teachers involved directly in the implementation of the school programs. Data analysis is conducted using an interactive model, which includes data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings of the study indicate that the school principal plays a very strategic role in shaping a culture of love and affection through leadership that sets an example, strengthening communication among school members, as well as implementing school programs such as BERKAH (rice charity), murojaah, art exhibition, and camping activities. These programs not only strengthen relationships among students but also foster a sense of empathy and solidarity in daily life within the school environment.

Abstract

This study discusses the implementation of School-Based Management (SBM) in SD Negeri 1 Jatipuro. This school is included in the category of schools with a red report card, which means it has many problems in the quality of education. The main problems faced are the low quality of education, lack of community participation, limited resources such as facilities and infrastructure, and lack of enthusiasm for learning from students. The purpose of this study is to determine whether the implementation of SBM can be a solution to overcome these problems and improve the quality of education in schools. The study was conducted using a case study approach and literature study. Data were collected through direct observation of the school, interviews with the principal, distributing questionnaires to educators and parents, and studying relevant books and articles. After the data was collected, the researcher analyzed it using a descriptive-qualitative method, namely describing the results based on facts in the field. The results of the study showed that the implementation of MBS had begun at the school. Some positive things that have been running are openness in budget management, and the involvement of the school committee in making important decisions. However, the implementation has not been completely smooth because there are still obstacles, such as lack of supporting facilities, low parental involvement, and some educators who are not ready to accept change. Although not perfect, the implementation of MBS is considered a fairly good initial step to improve the school management system and the quality of student learning in schools that are experiencing many challenges.

Abstract

In Indonesia, inclusive education still faces many complex challenges, including policy, infrastructure and human resource readiness. Many schools are not culturally and structurally ready to accept students with special needs. Limited disability-friendly facilities and infrastructure, a shortage of teachers experienced in inclusive education and a lack of community understanding of the concepts and principles of inclusion are some of the main barriers faced. Due to differences in budgets and commitment between regions, government policies to support inclusive education are not implemented evenly across regions. The aim of this study is to evaluate how effective inclusive education is and to find the components that support and hinder its success. This research used desk research, which meant reading and reviewing a wide range of relevant literature from national and international sources. These sources include scientific journals, academic books, research reports and articles that address theoretical and practical issues on inclusive education. The analysis was done descriptively to describe the current conditions and thematically to find patterns, difficulties and opportunities in implementing inclusive education. This method enables a better understanding of the social acceptance, policy development and practice of inclusive education in different contexts. The results show that there has been great progress in the area of regulation, such as the adoption of policies that support the right to education for children with special needs and increased public awareness of the importance of equal and diversity-friendly education.

Abstract

Speaking anxiety is a major challenge for health students, particularly pharmacy students, in developing effective communication skills that are essential for their future professional practice. Communication competence is a crucial component of pharmacy education, as pharmacists are required to provide clear information, counselling, and health education to patients. High levels of speaking anxiety can hinder students’ ability to express their ideas confidently, both in academic settings and clinical practice. This study aimed to identify and analyze strategies to reduce speaking anxiety among pharmacy students and support effective communication. A pre-test and post-test experimental design was employed, involving 30 students from the Diploma III Pharmacy Program at Politeknik Kesehatan Borneo Citra Medika, South Kalimantan, Indonesia. Data were collected using structured questionnaires to measure speaking anxiety before and after the intervention, as well as students’ commonly used coping strategies. Data analysis was conducted using the Wilcoxon test to determine the differences in speaking anxiety levels before and after the intervention. The results indicated that relaxation techniques, peer support, and systematic practice through role-play and simulations were effective in reducing speaking anxiety. Careful preparation prior to presentations and constructive feedback from instructors were also associated with improved communication performance. These findings highlight the importance of integrating anxiety reduction strategies into the pharmacy curriculum to enhance students’ confidence and communication skills, thereby better preparing them to become effective health communicators in their professional practice

Abstract

The Independent Curriculum (Curriculum Merdeka) brings significant changes to the learning structure in elementary schools, including the simplification and reduction of material in several subjects. At SDN Sungai Miai 10, these adjustments pose challenges for teachers, such as limited training, student readiness, and learning time management. This study aims to analyze teachers' strategies in adapting to the reduced material in the Independent Curriculum, identify the obstacles encountered, and evaluate the effectiveness of these strategies. The research used a qualitative approach with a case study method through in-depth interviews with the principal and class teachers directly involved in the curriculum's implementation. Data were analyzed thematically to identify patterns in the strategies used. Findings indicate that teachers addressed the reduced material by reinserting removed topics into relevant lessons, implementing project-based learning, a thematic approach, and formative assessment. These strategies increase student engagement, maintain conceptual understanding, and tailor learning to students' needs. However, the success of these strategies is greatly influenced by teacher readiness and ongoing training support. This study emphasizes the importance of supporting facilities, flexible teaching modules, and regular evaluation to ensure the effective implementation of the Independent Curriculum in elementary schools.

Abstract

The implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum at SDN Sungai Miai 5 faces two primary challenges: teachers’ continued reliance on traditional teaching methods and the limited integration of technology in classroom practices. These issues stem not only from a lack of exposure to digital tools but also from insufficient skills in applying them to support learning activities. This condition poses a significant obstacle to designing innovative, student-centered approaches in line with the core principles of the Merdeka Curriculum, such as project-based learning and differentiated instruction. This study aims to explore effective strategies to improve teacher competencies through mindset transformation and the enhanced use of technology, ultimately supporting the successful implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum at the primary school level. Using a qualitative approach with a case study method, data were collected through in-depth interviews and non-participatory observations involving several teachers. The data were analyzed using descriptive techniques, including data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, to obtain a comprehensive understanding of the challenges and solutions identified. The results indicate that targeted strategies such as technical mentoring, need-based professional development, the establishment of collaborative learning communities, and strong school leadership support are essential in facilitating teacher transformation. Furthermore, access to adequate digital infrastructure significantly boosts the adoption of technology-enhanced learning. Teachers have gradually demonstrated improvements in digital competence and have begun to implement more varied, contextual, and student-oriented learning strategies that reflect the spirit of the Merdeka Curriculum.

Abstract

The use of harsh or inappropriate language among elementary school children has become a concerning behavioral issue, as it can negatively impact their emotional and social development. This study aims to examine the underlying factors that contribute to children's use of offensive language, as well as to explore possible strategies for addressing this behavior. The contributing factors are classified into two main categories: internal and external. Internal factors include attention-seeking behavior, a desire for stimulation, and difficulties in emotional regulation. External factors involve influences from family upbringing, the residential environment, peer interactions, and cultural or social norms that tolerate the use of inappropriate language. This research employs a quantitative method with a document analysis approach to identify patterns and trends based on relevant literature. The findings indicate that both internal and external factors significantly influence children's tendency to use harsh language. Therefore, collaboration between parents, teachers, and the broader community is essential in providing guidance, positive examples, and continuous education to help children develop respectful and constructive communication habits.
