Abstract

Numerous studies offer proposal that women and men have their own way to convey a message. They share different characteristics in language production. This paper intends to reveal the language differences between women and men in writing a text. It analyzes students’ recount text writing, both women and men in the age of around 18 in a same theme. It encompasses qualitative and quantitative analysis drawn on Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) of Fairclough (1989). It focuses on linguistic and cultural analysis. It follows three stages; description, interpretation, and explanation analyzing the lexical choice, content, and style of writing. It jumps to the result that women’s language is considered powerless and feminine, whether men’s language is powerful and masculine. It proves that language contains power relation and social status. Apparently, it reflects the patriarchal order, subordination and stereotype of women and men.

Abstract

Digital capability is a 21th centuries educational challenge. The massive thing is highlighting the “digital gap” between students and educators. Especially because the Covid-19 pandemic has shifted the status quo in the world of education. Offline learning becomes ineffective, so online learning emerges . However, this doesn’t support the social control and character of students. Based on the ideals and outputs of the expected learning curriculum, several studies have shown that blended learning is the right environment to make it happen. Blended learning combines on-off learning packaged in a learning portal, Phy Go! . When online , students can access contents both videos, audios, reference books, and practical simulations. While offline , students can do practical work independently with PowerPoint and Excel media accessed through their PC and smartphone . So, Phy Go! can provide a new perspective on the world of education primarily applied in the new normal era

Abstract

Education is an effort to optimize human potential in its entirety, potential, humanity and natural potential (environment) that as an effort to ask Islamic students to the realization of righteous human beings. Baitul Ulum Mojoduwur Jombang Islamic Boarding School guides students to carry out activities to maintain the cleanliness of the Islamic boarding school environment (natural potential) as a form of implementation of an ecological based Islamic education model. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to describe the forms of activities to maintain the cleanliness of the environment of Islamic boarding schools in the ecology-based Islamic education model and the ecological concept in the fiqh perspective and the problematic implementation of ecology-based Islamic education in Baitul Ulum Islamic Boarding School. Descriptive analysis types qualitative research, with data collection techniques namely observation, interviews and documentation. Data analysis techniques are the description, reduction and interpretation. The results of the discussion that the concept of ecological-based Islamic education in its application can be reflected in two models. First, the classical model, which is applicative, still uses the Islamic distinctive cultures, such as Roanan (workmanship) once a week, and cleaning pickets clean the cottage environment. Second, the modern model, namely by utilizing natural technological advances such as findings in the field, is to replant the land around the hut and fertilizing it with natural fertilizers. The problem of the implementation of Ecological-based Islamic education in Baitul Ulum Mojoduwur Mojowarno Jombang Islamic Boarding School is the existence of historical factors, land factors, and the density of literary activities with the activities of reciting and attending school making the implementation of ecologically based Islamic education models only a small part in its application.

Abstract

The multiplication operations of whole numbers to solve the Mathemamtical problems were long multiplication and Chinese multiplication. Long multiplication of whole numbers was implemented by SD Negeri Darungan 01 Jember, while Chinese multiplication was considered as one of the most remarkable ways to calculate multiplication with more than two numbers. The students found it easier in counting than memorizing through the use of crossed lines. This design of this research was quantitative research method. The quantitative approach and quasi-experimental research were taken into this. As many as 64 respondents covering 32 students of class VIA and the other 32 of class VIB were selected by using the independent sample t-test technique. The data collection method used was observation, interview and tests. The learning outcomes through long multiplication showed that the mean score of pretest was 49.50, below the minimum completeness criteria; whilst the post-test obtained was 75.63. Learning outcomes achieved in pretest by using long multiplication revealed that the mean score was below the KKM, which was 45.00. After administering posttest, the mean score was 63.38. According to hypothesis verification through t-test polled variance on the students' posttest scores, the t-count was 3.434 in which it was lower than the t-table of 2.2971. The students who solved the problems by using Chinese multiplication learning got the higher mean scores of posttest which was 73.16 than the ones who obtained the mean score of 62.66 by using long multiplication. Thus, there was found a significant difference in the scores of students’ learning outcomes through long multiplication and Chinese multiplication techniques.
