Abstract

Writing is defined as a productive skill which helps the students to express their ideas and opinions in readable writing. Therefore, by learning to write, they are able to communicate effectively through good writing. Having good writing skill will help students in applying for jobs, important papers, and academic concerns; it also can be used in writing written and academic works. This research was intended to review the role of picture series as one of the learning media in improving students' writing skills. To achieve this objective, theory presentation, regulation, research, and practice in teaching writing were done. The students of III-A at SMPN 2 Panji were taken as research subjects. The research approach used was a qualitative research approach as the data obtained from the results of observation, interview, and students’ learning outcomes; and emphasized the process rather than focused on learning outcomes. This research was classified as a classroom action research by using two cycles in four stages; planning, implementing, observing, and reflecting. Each cycle was conducted in two meetings. Based on the results of the research, students’ learning outcomes improved from only 45% students in class VIII-A who were able to pass KKM in pre-cycle to 80% students who reached KKM in the cycle II. The students’ mean scores increased from 63 to 80 at the end of the second cycle. Thus, the conclusion drawn is learning to write by using picture series improved the students’ learning outcomes in class VIII-A at SMPN 2 Panji.

Abstract

Cooperative Learning is a model of learning taken by learners in the group, therefore, it will create many more learners to learn and collaborate. This research include in a class action model research aims to know the increase in activity and the results of the learner’s study on ICT subjects by using the method of Individualization Assisted Team (TAI). This research has three cycles with stages planning, implement1ation, observation and reflection which is done immediately when the learning activity. The outcomes learning research data is taken when the process of reflection after a posttest to all students when the study is completed. While the data retrieval process is done when the implementation of the activity when learners attend teaching and learning activities. From the results of research, the application of the cooperative learning model type TAI can increase the activity of the learners on a standard competency "Using Numeric Process Software to Produce the Information" and the basic competence “Makes the Document Processing Numbers with Variations of Text, Tables, Charts, Pictures and Diagrams". It can be seen from the increase in the percentage of the learner’s activity in the cycle I, II, and III. On the learners’ activity cycle I total percentage are 39.8% and still low. Later in the cycle II, their percentage was 78% and cycle III the total percentage was 55.7%. In addition to this type of cooperative learning, TAI can also enhance the learning outcome of students in all realm of affective, cognitive or psychomotor. This learning model can be one alternative that applied in the activity of learning but also must comply with the material or type of learning activities that will be done because of this learning model is only suitable for competence/problem can be resolved individually or groups.

Abstract

The multiplication operation in maths is still considered to be difficult by school students. Despite, multiplication is one of the most important topics in mathematics learning, since this operation is taught from elementary to secondary school levels, and we often encounter its application in everyday life. In the learning process, the multiplication operations will not only develop mathematical numeracy skills, understanding multiplication will also have an impact on the growth of students' critical thinking skills. Therefore, the basic concepts related to multiplication operations in mathematics must be taught fundamentally by the students, thus they can take advantage of it later on in their daily life.

Abstract

This study aimed at developing STAD type-based cooperative learning materials to improve students’ collaborative thinking skill. The study used Research and Development (R&D) method by Thiagarajan which consists of four stages: define, design, develop, and disseminative. The developed materials included RPP, LKPD and THPD. The validity result of the pre test and post test showed that the materials fulfilled valid criteria. The validity test was done using SPSS 14 program and the results showed that Sig. (2- tailed) value was lower than (≤) 0,05 and thus considered valid, and the Alpha Croncbrach was higher than (≥) 0,60 which made it considered reliable. The validity test for the results of practicality observation test showed a result of very practical and the effectivity results were gained from one-sample t-test that was by comparing the pre-test and post-test scores, which showed that the students and teacher’s activity in the limited classroom fulfilled the criteria practical and effective. The STAD type cooperative learning materials developed in this study had significant effects on students’ collaborative thinking skill in solving addition and subtraction problems. Based on the table of descriptive results for paired sample t-test, it can be concluded that there was differences on the average score of 85 > 71,67 and Sig.(2-tailed) = 0,000 which means Sig. < 0,05. Based on those results, it can be concluded that H0 was rejected and Ha was accepted which means that the learning results between pre-test and post-test were different.

Changes in the learning system either directly or indirectly will affect student learning activities and patterns. The purpose of this study is to identify differences in student activities and learning patterns during the pandemic. This research uses a mix of comparative and qualitative quantitative methods. Quantitative data collection is done by using an online questionnaire via Google Form, while qualitative data is collected through a questionnaire in the description and literature. This study involved 100 student respondents in high schools in Jember. Data analysis using IBM SPPS Wilcoxon different tests. The results of data analysis showed there were differences in activities and learning patterns experienced by students before and during the pandemic. Student activity and learning patterns tend to decrease during the pandemic. The learning process constraints faced by students during this pandemic are connections, assignment methods (assignments tend to be many), delivery methods, and poor time management

Abstract

Goal Programming is a method of solving problems by allocating company resources with several objectives to obtain an optimal solution. The solution can be obtained by using the QM for Windows program. The results showed that the objective function could be achieved well. The solution to the problem obtained from the QM For Windows application was that the optimal value for the budget cost of the window, storefront, and wardrobe raw materials was the same as the budget cost that had been issued by the furniture production owner, which was Rp. 22,850.000,00 per month. Then the upper limit can be minimized to raw material from aluminum (b1), which was 28.1 meters from the original 610 meters. In order to reach the target of the production process, the average working hours was 55 hours. For a good and correct production volume recommendation, the number of products produced must be optimal to produce 20 units of products consisting of 10 units of windows, five units of show windows, and five wardrobe units per month.
