Abstract

The purpose of this study was to develop a learning module of fractional numbers using Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) approach. The stages of development adhered to the stages of development proposed by Plomp (2007). To assess the quality of the module, Neeven’s assessment of product quality (2007) was used. This assessment focused on three things: the validity, practicality, and effectiveness of the developed module. The validity of the module was determined by validators. Once the module was confirmed valid by the validators, the try-outs were administered to see the practicality and effectiveness. The practicality of the module was assessed from students’ activity and students’ responses on learning using the module. Meanwhile, the effectiveness of the module was assessed from the results of daily tests and final tests. The try-outs were conducted in class four times, and the percentage of students’ scores in each meeting was above 90%, which means that students did not experience difficulties and felt comfortable in shaping their learning experience, and students’ response was also positive. Meanwhile, the average daily test results of students for each meeting and the average final test results of all students were above 75. The results of these try-outs indicate that the developed module met the criteria of practicality and effectiveness.

Abstract

Today, in a pandemic situation, the learning system in schools is now being diverted through Distance Learning (PJJ). The challenge that must be resolved by educators are to present a PJJ concept that is in the line with the free learning policy. The success of education today is largely determined by the approach used, especially for chemistry subjects that have high urgency at the SMA/MA level. One approach that is considered suitable to be applied is the heutagogy approach, integrated with using social media in learning. YouTube can be used as publication media in Project-Based Learning (PjBL). The form of research that used is library research and descriptive analysis methods as technique analysis. This application helps increase creativity because it starts with fundamental questions that encourage students' curiosity. This learning concept can still be used as alternative learning that can increase creativity when this pandemic over.

Abstract

Cognitive development is an important aspect, where cognitive processes are related to the level of intelligence (intelligence). This ability needs to be developed in early childhood so that they can understand the various symbols that exist around their environment and solve simple problems that occur. Cognitive development in early childhood can be applied through playing while learning activities through which the ability to recognize, remember, think convergently, diverge, assess, and observe shapes, colors, sizes and see similarities and differences. Cooking is a powerful teaching activity that can be used as an integral part of an early childhood curriculum. In cooking activity there is playing symbols supports children's cognitive development. RA Al-Huda Jember found problems related to the ability of children to recognize symbols of numbers (numbers) and letters. In general, children aged 4-5 years have difficulty distinguishing symbols of numbers 1-10 and distinguishing letters from one another, especially those that have almost the same shape. In this study, children stimulated by playing symbols through activities to print numbers in fun cooking activities to improve children's cognitive abilities. This study used pre experimental designs with One-group pre-test and post-test designs. This study compares the results of the pre-test before treatment and post-test after treatment. Applying of number printing in fun cooking activity can improve cognitive ability of 4 to 5 years children at RA Al-Huda Jember to name the symbols for the numbers 1-10, use the symbols for numbers to count, and match the numbers and the symbols.

Abstract

A multiplication is one of mathematical operations. It is taught in a school from elementary to high level. Most students consider the operation of multiplication is one of a complex operation. Thus, a lot of techniques are given such as the general stacking technique, the star stacking technique, the line stacking techniques, the Napier-bones technique. Those techniques have been well-known and can be found in the elementary school text book or in the internet such as google or youtube. In this paper, we develop a new technique namely a circle and square stacking technique, and a cross matching technique. Those new techniques show the advantages especially for visual learners style and gain more efficiency in terms of algorithms and number of operations needed
