Abstract

This study examines the role of social capital in the political reproduction of elites in Bone Regency, Indonesia, addressing a significant gap in the local politics literature, which has predominantly emphasized economic and political determinism. A qualitative approach with an in-depth case study design was employed. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, field observations, and document analysis involving political elites, traditional leaders, and grassroots voters. The findings reveal that the enduring electoral dominance of Bugis political elites is sustained not merely by financial resources but through the systematic operation of the Cultural Mechanisms of Electoral Dominance (CMED) model. Political elites strategically convert economic capital into long-term social capital by strengthening kinship networks (assiasangeng) and maintaining traditional patron-client relationships (punggawa-sawi). This sustained social investment generates a process of the euphemization of power, whereby material exchanges are transformed into morally legitimate social relationships grounded in Bugis cultural values, including siri', pesse, lempu', and getteng. These mechanisms produce symbolic violence and an electoral doxa, leading constituents to voluntarily reproduce dynastic political dominance because it is perceived as a natural, legitimate, and morally appropriate social order. The study contributes theoretically by reconceptualizing transactional clientelism as Relational-Moral Clientelism, thereby extending Bourdieu's theory of practice within the context of local electoral politics. It concludes that the reproduction of elite political power is deeply rooted in subtle forms of cultural hegemony. These findings suggest the need to redesign electoral oversight regulations by empowering the Election Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu) to monitor political philanthropy beyond official campaign periods, while also strengthening critical political education to enhance voters' democratic awareness. Future research should undertake comparative studies in non-feudal settings and explore the transformation of political habitus among younger generations.

Abstract

This study aims to analyse and describe the implementation of Multiple Intelligences (MI)-based learning in instilling Islamic values in early childhood in Lombok. The research uses a qualitative approach with a multi-site case study design conducted in three Islamic early childhood education institutions, namely Al-Iqro' Kindergarten in Mataram City, KB Riyadlusshibyan Early Childhood Education in West Lombok, and Insan Kaamil Teniga Kindergarten North Lombok. The research subjects included PAUD principals, teachers, children, and parents. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, non-participant observation, and documentation. Data analysis was conducted through the stages of data condensation, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results of the study indicate that the implementation of MI-based learning is able to accommodate the diversity of children's intelligence potentials, such as linguistic, kinesthetic, musical, interpersonal, intrapersonal, naturalistic, spiritual, and communal (Jama'ah) intelligence, which is a new finding of this study. The MI approach has been proven effective in helping internalise Islamic values in a contextual, enjoyable manner that is appropriate for the natural development of early childhood. This research contributes theoretically by strengthening the paradigm of Islamic education based on Fitrah and Ta'dib, as well as practically by providing a learning model called the Islamic Multiple Intelligences-Based Learning Environment for Islamic early childhood education

Abstract

This study presents a critical review of research exploring the role of intermediaries in strategic public procurement, a sector transitioning from traditional cost reduction to long-term societal goals such as innovation and sustainability. As public organizations increasingly rely on third-party brokers to manage complex markets, there is an urgent need to evaluate how these hybrid governance models affect strategic capacity and traditional control structures. The primary objective of this review is to systematically analyze the influences of intermediaries on organizational accountability and long-term market dynamics. Using a critical literature review methodology, the research evaluates the methodological rigor, theoretical underpinnings, and empirical findings of existing scholarship, specifically focusing on a 2025 case study of the Swedish consultancy and medical technology sectors. The findings highlight several strengths, including a highly relevant research agenda and a holistic multi-stakeholder approach that incorporates diverse voices from purchasers and suppliers. However, the review identifies significant limitations: a narrow geographical and sectoral scope, potential self-selection bias in sampling, and a surface-level application of contingency theory that lacks analytical depth. Furthermore, the study notes that causal claims regarding intermediaries undermining procurement are not fully supported by the qualitative data. The review concludes that while the research provides valuable insights into implementation challenges and accountability tensions, its generalizability remains restricted, and practitioners require more evidence-based, actionable solutions to balance administrative efficiency with strategic public value.

Abstract

This study discusses the integration of qaedah bahasa (linguistic rules), qaedah tafsir (principles of interpretation), and ushul fiqh (Islamic legal methodology) in mathematics learning. This integration approach has become important as awareness of the need for education that not only mastery of material but also forms character and systematic ways of thinking increases. The method used is a literature study with a qualitative-descriptive approach. The results of the study indicate three main positions: (1) the pro group who emphasizes that this integration enriches the meaning of mathematics learning and builds a holistic Islamic epistemology; (2) the contra group who worries about the imposition of values and the loss of mathematical objectivity; and (3) the intermediate group who offers a contextual and gradual integration model. These findings indicate that the success of integration is highly dependent on the availability of references, teacher training, and creativity in designing contextual examples with Islamic values.

Abstract

Global Market Pressures and the Colonial Structural Crisis: The Decline of the Sugar Industry in East Java 1901–1939 is the subject of this articles analysis. The Agrarische Wet and Suiker Wet of 1870 which abolished the system of forced cultivation and spurred an explosion of private capital and technological advancement marked the beginning of this industrial revolution. Coffee was displaced by sugar as the Dutch East Indies main export good as a result of these policies. This study looks at how the Panarukan region was incorporated into the global economy as a supplier of commodities for the core nation which in turn created a structure of dependency for the local community using Dependency Theory as a lens. Using colonial texts like the Staatsblad and the Jaarboek voor suikerfabrikanten a historical approach that includes heuristics source criticism interpretation and historiography is used. The results of the study show that the Brantas River Valleys alluvial soil fertility and contemporary irrigation infrastructure like the Sampean Dam supported East Javas strategic location. However this industrys prosperity concealed structural weaknesses that culminated in a global decline in sugar prices and widespread layoffs that affected about 800000 workers during the Great Depression of 1929. In order to survive the Panarukan people used socioeconomic adaptation to turn sugarcane fields into food crops like rice tobacco or secondary crops. The originality of this study emphasizes that the 1929 crisis was a turning point that revealed the weaknesses in the colonial dependency system rather than just an economic downturn. The demise of Panarukans sugar industry provides a striking example of how exploitative capitalist prosperity is extremely susceptible to outside shocks from the world market.

Abstract

This article attempts to discuss the differences in understanding the meaning of qawwam. Due to seeing various phenomena that occur in society in everyday life, there are always different points of view in understanding the verses of the Qur’an, including the issue of understanding leaders in the Qur’an by Amina Wadud. Amina Wadud is one of the current contemporary figures who supports gender. Amina Wadud is a feminist activist, her monumental book is entitled Qur'an and Women: Rerading the Sacred Text from a Women's Perspective. Amina Wadud directs a deconstructive style of interpretation towards laws that are widely known by Muslims such as inheritance, the role of women, nusyuz, including the issue of imams (leaders) regardless of the pros and cons among the ulama. This issue is very interesting to research regarding the reconstruction of the understanding of the verse about the meaning of qawwam in the Qur’an by looking at the figure of a woman named Amina Wadud. With gender understanding which assumes that men and women are equal before Allah SWT. Amina Wadud wants to revive the role of women in equality in gender relations, based on the principles of social justice and gender equality. Reality in Islam shows the reason why women are more backward than men (patriarchy). Amina Wadud saves women from Islamic conservatism. According to him, there are many things that cause skewed interpretations about women, societal culture, paradigm errors, and the background of the interpreters, most of whom are men. Therefore, the verses about leaders should be interpreted by women themselves based on their perceptions, experiences and thoughts

Abstract

This study examines the legal policy of spatial use for residential areas and the mechanisms for imposing sanctions in the Regional Regulation on the Regional Spatial Planning (RTRW) of Bima City. Using a descriptive analytical method with a normative juridical and sociological approach, the results show that the regulation of spatial use in residential areas has not been fully implemented optimally due to the high rate of land conversion and settlement expansion in disaster-prone zones. The application of administrative, criminal, and civil sanctions for spatial planning violations still faces institutional challenges, coordination, and consistent law enforcement. Therefore, strengthening control instruments, harmonizing regulations post-Job Creation Law, and increasing public legal awareness are needed to achieve orderly, sustainable spatial planning in Bima City.

Abstract

This article examines the sociological reconceptualization of religious education within the marginal spaces of pastoral care through the lens of the dialectic of ritual and resistance. Previous studies on pastoral care have tended to frame ritual either theologically or psychologically, neglecting how structural inequality, class marginality, institutional exclusion, and power asymmetries shape the production of meaning in religious education. Employing a qualitative case study in three urban pastoral communities in Indonesia, this research utilizes participant observation and in-depth interviews with 34 pastoral actors (clergy, lay volunteers, and marginal parishioners). Data analysis was conducted through thematic analysis guided by an abductive logic, moving iteratively between empirical data and the framework of the sociology of ritual. The findings demonstrate that ritual operates as a double-edged mechanism: reproducing hegemonic narratives while simultaneously providing a tactical space for marginal actors to enact subversion through embodied performance, vernacular reinterpretation, and collective improvisation. This dialectic gives rise to what we formulate as "threshold pedagogy," an articulated form of vernacular theology emerging from structural vulnerability rather than merely a localized pedagogical strategy or hidden curriculum. This pedagogy functions as a meaning-making practice through which marginal groups actively negotiate, disrupt, and appropriate dominant narratives via their ritual participation. The novelty of this study lies in its explicit integration of the sociology of ritual and pastoral care studies, challenging Durkheimian functionalism by positioning conflict and agency as constitutive elements of religious education in liminal spaces. Methodologically, this research offers a grounded framework for analyzing religious education as a contested social practice while paving the way for structure-sensitive and participatory pastoral interventions.

Abstract

This study aims to reconstruct the local knowledge of the Sasak people in the process of making, tuning, and performing Gendang Beleq into a physics concept. The study used a qualitative approach with a focused ethnographic design at the Den Nune Sapu Jagat Art Studio, Masbagik, East Lombok. Informants consisted of a cultural figure and a Gendang Beleq player who were selected purposively. Data were collected through observation, semi-structured interviews, and documentation, then analyzed through data condensation, data presentation, and verification of conclusions with emic and etic perspectives. The results showed that the choice of wood, body and cavity size, membrane type and tension, striking position, and playing pattern are related to material properties, impulsive force, membrane vibration, sound waves, natural frequency, damping, and resonance. Gendang Beleq has conceptual and contextual suitability to be developed as a local culture-based physics learning resource. Further research is needed to test its acoustic characteristics and learning effectiveness.

Abstract

The principle of good faith constitutes a fundamental doctrine in civil law that governs not only the formation of contracts but also their performance. In contemporary contractual relationships, disputes frequently arise not merely from the violation of explicit contractual terms, but from actions that, while formally compliant, contradict ethical standards, fairness, and reasonable expectations between parties. This condition highlights the growing importance of good faith as a normative benchmark in assessing contractual performance. This study aims to analyze the role and legal significance of the principle of good faith in contract performance from a civil law perspective, particularly in ensuring justice, balance, and legal certainty in private legal relations. This research employs a normative legal research method, relying on a statutory, conceptual, and doctrinal approach. Primary legal materials include civil codes, judicial decisions, and international legal instruments relevant to contract law, while secondary materials consist of scholarly writings, legal commentaries, and academic journals. The analysis is conducted through systematic interpretation and legal reasoning to examine how the principle of good faith operates in contractual performance and dispute resolution. The findings of this study indicate that the principle of good faith functions as an open norm that complements contractual obligations beyond written provisions. It serves as a corrective mechanism against opportunistic behavior, abuse of rights, and rigid contractual interpretation. Furthermore, good faith enables judges to evaluate the fairness of contract performance by considering moral standards, social values, and reasonable expectations of the parties. This research concludes that the principle of good faith is essential for achieving substantive justice in contract law and should be consistently applied to strengthen the integrity and reliability of contractual relationships in civil law systems
