Abstract

Graph is a discrete mathematical representation widely used to model connectivity in various fields. This study discusses the application of Hamiltonian concepts on the complete bipartite graph K_8^2 as a model for vaccine service route planning at the local level (district). The graph K_8^2 represents eight health facilities in a region, where each facility consists of seven service locations and one other supporting facility. The research method includes constructing a complete bipartite graph, identifying vertices and circuits, and tracing Hamiltonian paths to visualize routes that connect each vertex once in a closed journey. The results show that the K_8^2 graph is effective for designing vaccine distribution routes that systematically and efficiently connect all facilities across eight districts. The complete bipartite graph with Hamiltonian properties proves applicable as a model for public service route planning, with potential implementation in optimizing health logistics distribution, facility inspection, and emergency response for vaccination services at the local level.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze publication trends, keyword mapping, and future research opportunities related to the use of the Visual Auditory Kinesthetic (VAK) approach in mathematics education from 2014 to 2024. A descriptive quantitative method with bibliometric analysis was used. Data were collected from Google Scholar using Publish or Perish and visualized with VOSviewer. A total of 93 relevant articles were analyzed. The results show a significant increase in publications, especially during 2023–2024, with four highly cited articles reaching a total of 171 citations. Keyword mapping revealed eight clusters, with dominant terms such as kinesthetic, problem, ability, and education. Future studies are encouraged to explore the integration of the VAK approach with underexplored topics such as artificial intelligence.

Abstract

The low level of students' conceptual understanding in science learning indicates the need for innovative learning models. This study aims to determine the effect of the Pop-Up Book-assisted Problem-Solving model on the conceptual understanding of third-grade students at Buduk 3 Public Elementary School. This study used a quasi-experimental method with a non-equivalent control group design. The sample consisted of two classes: an experimental class using the Pop-Up Book-assisted Problem-Solving model and a control class using conventional learning. Data were collected through pretests and posttests and analyzed using an Independent Sample t-test. The results showed that the experimental class' posttest average (92.23) was higher than the control class' (52.70), with a significance value of 0.000 (<0.05). Thus, the Pop-Up Book-assisted Problem-Solving model has proven effective in improving students' conceptual understanding in science learning.

Abstract

The Effect of FAST READ Program on Third Grade Students’ Reading Comprehension. This study was conducted to investigate the effect of the FAST READ program (Fun Active Strategy for Reading Efficiency and Development) on elementary students’ reading comprehension skills. A quantitative approach was employed using a quasi-experimental method with a one-group pretest–posttest design. The participants consisted of 27 third-grade students. Data were obtained through reading comprehension tests administered prior to and following the implementation of the treatment. The findings revealed an improvement in students’ mean scores, increasing from 73.50 in the pretest to 81.50 in the posttest. The paired sample t-test results showed a significance value below 0.05, indicating a statistically significant difference between the two measurements. Furthermore, the N-gain value of 0.19 was classified as low, suggesting a limited level of improvement. Overall, the implementation of the FAST READ program demonstrated a positive impact on students’ reading comprehension skills, although the magnitude of improvement remains relatively modest.

Abstract

The problem addressed in this study stems from the low level of scientific literacy among elementary school students and the suboptimal implementation of Education for Sustainable Development (ESD), which has not been well integrated with local wisdom. In addition, Sundanese gastronomic knowledge is increasingly being eroded by modernization, highlighting the need for innovative, contextual, and meaningful learning media. This study aims to analyze the need for developing a learning medium in the form of a storybook based on Ethno-ESD Sundanese gastronomy as a foundation for strengthening students’ scientific literacy. This study employed a quantitative descriptive method within the Design Based Research (DBR) framework at the needs analysis stage. The sample consisted of fifth-grade elementary school students selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using a Likert-scale questionnaire covering five aspects: prior learning understanding, learning media needs, scientific literacy, integration of Ethno-ESD, and students’ interest in storybooks. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics in the form of mean scores. The results indicate that students’ need for developing an Ethno-ESD-based storybook is high, with an average score of 4.13. All aspects fall into high to very high categories, with the highest score in the integration of Ethno-ESD Sundanese gastronomy. These findings suggest that students require contextual and engaging learning media that integrate scientific literacy with daily life and local cultural values. Therefore, the development of an Ethno-ESD-based Sundanese gastronomy storybook has strong potential as an innovative solution to enhance elementary students’ scientific literacy.
