Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of Japanese language extracurricular activities in developing students' talents and interests in SMP IT Cendekia Purwakarta. The research method used is qualitative descriptive with data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results of the study show that Japanese extracurricular activities contribute positively to the development of students' potential, both in academic and non-academic aspects. Students who have a talent for language can hone their skills through conversational activities, writing Japanese letters, and taking part in competitions, while their interest grows due to an interest in Japanese popular culture. In addition, this activity also supports the formation of positive characters such as confidence, discipline, cooperation, and the courage to appear in public. Despite the obstacles in the form of time constraints, difficulties in learning Japanese letters, and lack of facilities, the coaching teachers were able to overcome them with creative learning methods. Thus, Japanese language extracurricular activities have proven to be an effective means of developing students' talents, interests, and personalities, while supporting the school's vision in producing a globally competitive generation.

Abstract

This study examines the directorial process of "Sepotong Riwayat Mamak" (A Fragment of Mother's Story) by Arga Purnama, a drama addressing elderly abandonment in nursing homes. Using descriptive qualitative methods, the research explores technical and artistic challenges in adapting the script to realist theater performance. Findings reveal that thorough script analysis, accurate observation of elderly characters, and precise handling of performative elements including blocking, dialogue intonation, and background music are critical success factors. The study provides insights into the complexities of directing realist theater while highlighting the importance of empathy in portraying marginalized communities' lives. Challenges in actor preparation and symbolic element execution offer practical lessons for theater practitioners.

Abstract

Educator performance is a determining factor in the quality of higher education because it directly influences the quality of learning, research, and community service. This study aims to analyze the practice of educator resource management at Nahdlatul Ulama University of East Kalimantan (UNU Kaltim) in improving lecturer performance. The research method used a qualitative case study approach with non-participant observation techniques and literature review. Data analysis was conducted using the Miles, Huberman, and Saldana model through the stages of reduction, presentation, and drawing conclusions validated by technical triangulation. The results show that educator resource management at UNU Kaltim is implemented through needs planning, recruitment, capacity development, performance evaluation, and retention. This implementation has an impact on improving the quality of learning through the use of digital technology, increasing national publications, and lecturer involvement in community service programs. However, obstacles still arise such as the limited number of lecturers with doctoral degrees, minimal research funding, and demands for digital literacy. This study demonstrates the need for competency development strategies, expanding collaboration, and strengthening the research culture to optimize the performance of the three pillars of higher education.

Abstract

This study describes the implementation of Biology learning based on the Love-Based Curriculum (KBC) at SMK Kesehatan Athallah. The research employed a descriptive qualitative method with data collected through observation, interviews, and documentation during August–September 2025. Data analysis followed the Miles and Huberman model. The results indicate that the learning process was carried out in three stages: an introduction emphasizing spirituality, core activities using Problem Based Learning (PBL), and a closing session through joint reflection. A contextual teaching module integrating values of love, empathy, responsibility, and environmental care motivated more than 83% of students and fostered positive behavioral changes, including discipline, environmental awareness, and mutual respect. The main challenges were the limited contextualization of the teaching module and the need for continuous teacher training. In conclusion, the implementation of KBC enhanced students’ motivation, conceptual understanding, and empathy, making it relevant for vocational education in the health sector.

Abstract

The implementation of the zoning system since 2017 has triggered significant transformation in the secondary education landscape in Jayapura City, including the emergence of new secondary schools as a response to policy changes. This study aims to analyze the factors that trigger the proliferation of new secondary schools in Jayapura City during the zoning era and identify the opportunities and challenges that accompany it. Using a qualitative approach with case study methods, this research involved in-depth interviews with 35 key informants including education providers, local government, and community representatives, as well as analysis of licensing documents and educational statistics data for the 2017-2024 period. The results showed a significant increase in the number of secondary schools in Jayapura City from 68 units in 2017 to 89 units in 2024, representing growth of 30.9%. The main factors triggering the emergence of new schools include: limited capacity of existing schools within the zoning system, profitable education business opportunities due to excess demand, demands for geographical equity in education access particularly in peripheral areas, resistance to the zoning system from upper-middle economic groups seeking quality alternatives, and diversification needs for specialized education programs. Identified opportunities include improved access to education in underserved areas, increased infrastructure investment totaling Rp 189.5 billion, and healthy competition driving educational innovation. Main challenges include quality disparities between schools, potential fragmentation of the education system, operational sustainability issues affecting 14.3% of new schools, and shortage of 546 qualified teaching staff. The research recommends the need for stricter regulations on the establishment of new schools, comprehensive accreditation systems, and integration strategies for new schools in a sustainable zoning education ecosystem that ensures equitable access to quality education.

Abstract

This study discusses the meaning of separation and acceptance in the lyrics of the song “Congratulations (Goodbye)” by Virgoun feat. Audy through Ferdinand de Saussure’s semiotic approach. Lyrics are not just a series of words, but contain symbols, hidden meanings, and emotional messages that can be interpreted in depth. Using an interpretive qualitative method, this study analyzes the relationship between the signifier and the signified in each verse of the song. The results of the analysis show that each verse represents the stages of emotion experienced by the character in the song, from nostalgia, loss, to acceptance and self-transformation. This song is not only about separation, but also describes the emotional maturity that arises from wounds and learning. The findings of this study indicate that symbols in the lyrics are able to convey universal messages about love, loss, and sincerity. The implications of this study indicate that song lyrics as a medium of symbolic communication can be a means of emotional reflection for listeners.

Abstract

Poetry, as a medium of aesthetic and reflective expression, holds significant potential in developing students' critical literacy. However, the complexity of form and symbolism in poetry often becomes a barrier in the learning process. This study aims to analyze the poem Ibu by Chairil Anwar using a structural approach to reveal the interrelation between physical and inner structures in constructing meaning, as well as to examine its relevance in literature learning at the secondary school level. Employing a Qualitative descriptive-analytical method, this study explores the poem’s physical structure such as typography, diction, imagery, and figures of speech and its inner structure, including theme and message. The analysis reveals that the poem Ibu is composed with simplicity yet conveys deep emotional and spiritual layers, reflecting profound reverence toward the mother figure. The structural approach proves effective in systematically uncovering meaning and is applicable in classroom settings, supporting the integration of analytical and contextual literary education aligned with the Merdeka Curriculum. These findings underscore the urgency of implementing structural analysis as a pedagogical strategy to enhance literary appreciation and critical literacy in secondary education.

Abstract

مهارة القراءة هي إحدى مهارات اللغة العربية التي يجب أن يتقنها الطلاب في تعلم اللغة العربية والتي يمكن أن تتأثر بعدة عوامل مسائدة أحدها الذكاء اللغوي والاهتمام بالتعلم عند الطلاب. بحيث أنه مع الذكاء اللغوي القادر على الحصول على المعلومات المختلفة وتصبح قدرة الشخص ومهارته في فهم القراءة ويصبح الاهتمام هو القوة الدافعة للشخص في قراءة المقروء. بناءً على الخلفية المذكورة أعلاه, يهدف هذا البحث إلى تحديد تأثير الذكاء اللغوي والاهتمام بالتعلم في القدرة على القراءة لدى طالبات الصف الرابع في معهد دار السلام كونتور للبنات الحرم الأول. ونموذج البحث المستخدم هو البحث الكمي الحسي. تمت أخذ العينات بتقنية أخذ العينات العشوائية. والطريقة المستخدمة في جمع البيانات هي طريقة الاستبيان باستخدام استبيان ونتائج درجات ورقة عمل الطالبات. في حين أن طريقة تحليل البيانات تقنيات تحليل الانحدار المتعدد. أظهرت النتائج ما يلي: لايوجد تأثير معنوي للذكاء اللغوي في مهارة القراءة لدى طالبات الصف الرابع في معهد دار السلام كونتور للبنات الحرم الأول, حيث أظهرت قيمة دلالة 0.450 > 0.05. لايوجد تأثير معنوي للاهتمام بالتعلم في مهارة القراءة لدى طالبات الصف الرابع حيث تظهرت قيمة دلالة 0.534 > 0.05. لايوجد تأثير متزامن للذكاء اللغوي والاهتمام بالتعلم في مهارة القراءة لدى طالبات الصف الرابع, حيث كانت القيمة المحسوبة F < جدول F, أي 0.298 < 3.15 و قيمة الدلالة 0.744 > 0,05. وقيمة R المعدل هي -0.024. لذلك, فإن متغيرين الذكاء اللغوي والاهتمام بالتعلم هما متغيران لا يؤثران في مهارة القراءة لدى طالبات الصف الرابع .

Abstract

This study aims to explore and analyze the challenges students encounter in learning mathematics, particularly in grasping the concepts of cubes and rectangular prisms, through the implementation of the Make a Match learning method. This method was selected due to its potential to enhance students' engagement, participation, and comprehension in the learning process. However, its application still faces several obstacles that hinder effective learning. This research adopts a qualitative approach, utilizing observation, interviews, and diagnostic tests as data collection techniques. The findings indicate that students experience various difficulties, including: (1) differentiating the characteristics of cubes and rectangular prisms, (2) comprehending the concepts and performing calculations related to their volume and surface area, and (3) constructing and accurately illustrating their nets. Several factors contribute to these challenges, such as a lack of fundamental conceptual understanding, difficulty in relating the material to real-life situations, and limitations in spatial visualization skills. The outcomes of this study provide insights for teachers in developing more effective and efficient instructional strategies, including the integration of concrete teaching aids, interactive media, and personalized guidance tailored to students' specific needs. Therefore, optimizing the implementation of the Make a Match method is expected to enhance students' conceptual understanding more effectively.
