Human communication aims to convey specific goals and objectives from the speaker to the listener, where the language used has an important role in building a communicative situation. Language skills include reading, speaking, writing, and listening. One of writing skills is article writing. However, in writing online articles, language errors are still a common occurrence and a daily phenomenon. The purpose of this study is to analyze language errors contained in environmental-themed articles on the nationalgeographic.co.id website in the January 2025 edition. This research focuses on three linguistic errors, including the first, the selection of diction; the second, the wrong use of conjunctions; and the third, the wrong use of punctuation. The method used in this research is a descriptive qualitative approach, which relies on data collection techniques. The data collection techniques used include listening and taking notes. The results showed that there were several language errors in the articles, including the use of non-standard diction, errors in conjunction selection, and improper use of punctuation. This can affect the quality of information provided to the public because it has the potential to cause reader misinterpretation. This research is expected to contribute to raising awareness about the importance of using good and correct language, especially in writing scientific works such as articles that become sources of information. Abstract

Language, as defined by Kridalaksana and Depdikbud, is a system of arbitrary sound symbols used by members of a society to cooperate and interact. The main aspects of language include human nature, learnability, systematic structure, arbitrariness, and symbolic function. Language distinguishes humans from other creatures, facilitating the communication of thoughts and feelings. Language learning is a gradual process influenced by the environment, such as school, home, and the circle of friends. The language system consists of grammatical rules that ensure structured communication. Errors in language arise from systematic difficulties with grammar. This study analyzes language errors found in news articles in OBAH Magazine, focusing on spelling errors, including capitalization, italics, prepositions, use of affixes, word division, writing of loan words, and punctuation. Clear and accurate language is essential in the media, especially school magazines such as OBAH. Identifying these problems can improve students' understanding of the information conveyed. This study addresses the research gap regarding language errors in a particular school magazine, which contributes to improving the quality of language in educational contexts. The qualitative method emphasizes understanding social phenomena, utilizing observation, interviews, and documentation for data collection. The analysis involves categorizing and reconstructing data to offer recommendations for improving students' critical reading and literacy skills, which ultimately helps their social communication skills.

Language assumes a fundamental role in human life and is essential for communication and survival. This research aims to explore and analyze the various types of phrases that are found in the online article entitled "Funny Anecdote Political Texts" published on the laman web https://edukasi.okezone.com. The objective is to understand how phrases are used and to identify the phrase structures that appear within the selected anecdotal texts. This study is considered important because it contributes to the field of syntax in linguistic studies and offers insights into the phrase patterns commonly employed in humorous political anecdotes. Data were collected through library research using observation and note-taking techniques, with the researchers acting as observers and language analysts throughout the process. A phrase is defined as a group of words that function as a single unit but do not convey a complete idea. Since a phrase does not express a full thought, it requires additional elements to form a clause or complete sentence. This study helps readers gain a clearer understanding of phrase structures and their functions within political anecdotal discourse.

Abstract

Study aims to identify and analyze the types of direct sentences in opinion texts on women's education published on the IDN Times website in the April 2024 edition. This research uses a descriptive qualitative approach with a literature study method, which is also supported by simple quantitative data analysis to determine the proportion of each type of direct sentence. The analysis results show that of the eleven direct sentences found, the majority are statements of fact, followed by statements of opinion and invitations or appeals. This finding indicates that opinion-text writers prioritize concrete data and facts to strengthen their arguments. However, opinion and invitation elements are still present as rhetorical elements that enrich the narrative and enhance persuasion efforts toward readers. Therefore, using direct sentences in opinion texts proves effective in conveying social issues and building public understanding, especially regarding the importance of education for women.

Abstract

The use of language in everyday life often goes wrong. Good and correct language use significantly affects a person's reading process. Quality writing adheres to proper linguistic rules. However, many language errors are often found in written texts. This study aims to analyze language errors in opinion texts published in the November 2024 edition of the apakabarnusantara.com website. Another purpose of this study is to evaluate whether the opinion texts on the website are suitable as reading material for 12th-grade high school students, helping them understand proper language use in opinion writing to enhance their language skills. The methods used in this study are qualitative descriptive analysis and a syntactic approach as the theoretical framework. Data were collected by reading several relevant references and recording information that could be used as data. The analysis of this study revealed the use of non-standard words in both texts, such as the word mempengaruhi, which is a common misspelling of the correct form memengaruhi in Indonesian. Both words translate to influence in English, but only memengaruhi is considered standard. Another example includes the use of foreign terms such as best practice. In terms of coherence, the analysis found sentences that introduced new information abruptly, rather than reinforcing the previous ideas. Logical sentence structure was also an issue, as some sentences lacked clarity and failed to convey a clear message to the reader. Additionally, there were ineffective sentences due to the repetition of the same words. This research aims to provide deeper insight into language errors in opinion texts and to promote a better understanding of how to write opinion pieces using correct and appropriate language rules.
