Abstract

Mental health is a crucial component in supporting individual well-being, particularly for university students who are often faced with various stressors. Despite the increasing accessibility of mental health services, several barriers still prevent individuals from seeking help, one of which is self-stigma. Self-stigma is a process in which individuals internalize society’s negative perceptions about mental health. This study aims to identify the role of self-stigma in influencing help-seeking behavior for professional psychological services among university students in Bali. A quantitative approach was employed, utilizing simple linear regression analysis. A total of 129 university students (female = 101; mean age = 18–25 years) from various higher education institutions in Bali participated in the study through purposive sampling. Data collection instruments consisted of two scales: the Self-Stigma Scale with a reliability coefficient of 0.934, and the Psychological Help-Seeking Behavior Scale with a reliability coefficient of 0.871. Data were analyzed using simple linear regression. The results showed an R Square value of 0.536, indicating that self-stigma contributes 53.6% to help-seeking behavior. The findings reveal that self-stigma negatively affects students’ behavior in seeking psychological help. Although students are increasingly aware of the importance of professional mental health support, this awareness is not yet fully reflected in their actions. Therefore, continuous efforts are needed to reduce self-stigma through educational campaigns. Students are also expected to serve as agents of change in broader social contexts by promoting a positive culture of psychological help-seeking within society.

Abstract

Educational laboratories at State Universities Public Service Agency (PTN-BLU) play a strategic role as academic nodes and institutional business units in supporting the tridharma of higher education. This study examines the dynamics of educational laboratory governance in the context of institutional politics and financial autonomy of PTN-BLU during 2015–2024. Using a qualitative descriptive approach and a literature study design, this study analysed policy documents, institutional reports, and accredited national publications. The main findings reveal four dominant patterns that hinder laboratory performance: internal policy discontinuity, inequality in resource allocation, political intervention in decision-making, and weak integration of digital systems. The fragmentation of SOPs and the dominance of bureaucracy worsen operational efficiency, while laboratories with higher commercial potential benefit from performance-based financing models. The study also shows that basic and social science laboratories are increasingly marginalized, widening the inequality gap. However, initiatives such as the digitization of laboratory management information systems, the establishment of multistakeholder advisory boards, asnd performance-based incentives showcase the potential for institutional reform. This research suggests the importance of adaptive internal policy design, fair budget distribution, and strengthening human resource capacity and digital accountability. Thus, the PTN-BLU laboratory can become a center of innovation and quality of education if it is carried out within an integrative and transformative governance framework.

Abstract

This study examines the gap between students' expectations and the reality of their learning experience in an EFL university setting. While students anticipate adequate facilities, a well-structured curriculum, and a supportive English-speaking environment, they often face inadequate resources, curriculum mismatches, and limited immersion. This disparity affects motivation, academic performance, and language proficiency. By identifying these gaps, the study offers insights for improving teaching strategies, curriculum development, and the overall EFL learning environment. This qualitative case study explores the gap between students' expectations and the reality of EFL learning in the English Education Department. Semi-structured interviews with three students from different academic levels provide diverse perspectives. Thematic analysis identifies key discrepancies in facilities, curriculum relevance, and the English-speaking environment. Expert validation ensures the validity of interview questions. Findings highlight the need for institutional improvements to enhance students' learning experiences. This study explores the gap between English Education students' expectations and reality, impacting their learning. Key issues include inadequate facilities, a theory-heavy curriculum, and a lack of English use in daily communication, leading to reduced motivation and proficiency. Institutions must improve facilities, balance theory with practice, and foster an English-speaking environment to better prepare future educators.

Abstract

Healthcare service is one of the most important industries in Indonesia. Over the past years, public interest in traditional and herbal medicine has increased, especially after the COVID-19 pandemic. RSU Holistic Purwakarta is one of the pioneers of integrative hospitals in Indonesia that offers herbal inpatient services. However, the hospital is currently experiencing a significant decrease in herbal inpatient visits, which is also reflected in its low bed occupancy rate. Based on preliminary research and problem identification, the main issue found is the declining patient loyalty towards the hospital's herbal services. The objective of this research is to formulate a marketing strategy to strengthen herbal patient loyalty and identify which service quality factors influence patient satisfaction and loyalty. This study applies a quantitative and qualitative approach. The quantitative method is conducted through a survey distributed to 155 herbal inpatients, and the data were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) via SmartPLS. The qualitative method includes interviews with the hospital’s management and marketing team to explore internal service issues and market behavior. The findings show that service quality on the people dimension (reliability, responsiveness, and empathy) has a significant influence on patient satisfaction (R² = 0.696), and satisfaction significantly affects patient loyalty (R² = 0.685). The p-values for all constructs are <0.05, confirming the acceptance of all hypotheses. Interviews also identified inefficiencies such as late doctor attendance. Based on the internal and external analysis using the 7P Marketing Mix, PESTEL, and Porter’s Five Forces frameworks this research proposes a marketing strategy. The result is a TOWS matrix that provides actionable strategies, such as strengthening people-based service quality, enhancing integrated communication efforts, and positioning RSU Holistic as a leading herbal and tourism-based hospital. This study contributes academically and practically by emphasizing the role of marketing strategy in strengthening loyalty in the healthcare industry.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of social media on consumer purchasing behavior using a qualitative approach. Social media has become a primary medium in digital marketing, enabling direct interaction between brands and consumers. This study used an online questionnaire distributed to 50 respondents aged 18–24 years, as well as semi-structured interviews with five informants who had experience shopping through social media. The results showed that attractive visual content, influencer support, and Electronic Word of Mouth (E-WOM) play a significant role in shaping purchasing decisions. This study contributes to the understanding of contemporary marketing practices and offers effective strategies in optimizing social media. Visual content increases product appeal, influencers build consumer trust, and E-WOM serves as a source of information and social validation. These findings provide theoretical contributions to the study of digital consumer behavior and offer practical implications for business actors in designing more effective and relevant social media marketing strategies in the digital era. This study not only enriches the theoretical understanding of consumer behavior in the digital context but also offers practical implications for business actors and marketers. Marketing strategies that emphasize authentic visual elements, collaboration with relevant influencers, and encouraging consumer engagement through online reviews and testimonials have proven effective in influencing purchase intentions. Thus, this study provides an important contribution in the development of social media-based marketing strategies that are more adaptive and responsive to current consumer trends.

Abstract

Food security is a critical pillar for ensuring socio-economic stability and achieving sustainable development. This study analyzes the influence of rice production, gross regional domestic product (GRDP) per capita, poverty rate, access to clean water, and the COVID-19 pandemic on Indonesia's food security during the 2019–2023 period. Using panel data regression with the Random Effects Model (REM), the results indicate that rice production, poverty, and access to clean water significantly affect food security. Interestingly, the COVID-19 dummy variable shows a significant positive effect (2020–2022), indicating improved food security during the pandemic years. These findings highlight the effectiveness of government responses, particularly through social protection and food distribution programs. The study provides insights for future policies that prioritize increasing domestic food production, poverty alleviation, and equitable access to clean water as strategies to strengthen sustainable food security.

Abstract

Religious groups today often experience social conflict. However, this is not the case in the community of Ngadas Village, Poncokusumo Subdistrict, Malang Regency, which consists of Buddhists, Muslims, and Hindus. Family resilience becomes a challenge when family members adhere to different religions and live in a religiously pluralistic environment. The purpose of this study is to identify strategies for religiously pluralistic family resilience and analyze them using Peter L. Berger and Thomas Luckmann's social construction theory. This study employs an empirical research method with a sociological approach. Data were collected through interviews and documentation. The data were then processed in several stages: data examination, data classification, data verification, data analysis, and conclusion. The results of the study show that the resilience strategies of religiously pluralistic families include adaptation to the environment through active involvement in social and cultural activities, tolerance, the role of the family in shaping open-mindedness and empathy, and cultural traditions as the foundation of community life. Family resilience in religiously pluralistic communities is examined from a social construction perspective through three processes: First, the process of externalization, where the Ngadas village community creates the habit of living in harmony and respecting customs. Second, the process of objectification, where these habits are accepted as legitimate and binding social norms. Third, the process of internalization, where these values are embedded in each individual as part of their identity as Tengger people.

Abstract

This study analyzed the use of derivational suffixes that transform root nouns into adjectives in the writing of EFL students at Tadulako University. This study aims to identify the types of adjectival suffixes that are difficult to use and the common errors students make. Using quantitative descriptive method, data were collected from the students' writings and analyzed morphologically. The results show that suffixes such as -ful, -ous, -ly, -al, -ic, -able, -less, and -ive are frequently used. However, many errors were found, especially in choosing the wrong suffixes and in spelling. These findings highlight the need for more explicit instruction in morphological rules to help the students form words more accurately.
