Abstract

This research examines the role of Word of Mouth (WOM) in building consumer trust in new brands and the strategies that can be applied to make WOM more effective. In an increasingly competitive business world, WOM, both in conventional and digital forms (electronic Word of Mouth/e-WOM), has become one of the main factors that influence brand image and consumer purchasing decisions. This study explores how WOM can enhance the credibility of a new brand through customer recommendations, online reviews, and interactions that occur on various social media platforms. Through literature analysis and theoretical studies, this study found that WOM has a significant influence on shaping consumer perceptions of a new brand. Some of the factors that play a role in the effectiveness of WOM include the level of trust in the source of information, the frequency of conversations about the brand, and the media used in disseminating information. In addition, the utilization of digital marketing strategies that integrate social media with active consumer involvement can further strengthen the impact of WOM in building customer trust and loyalty to a new brand. With these findings, businesses are expected to maximize WOM as an effective marketing strategy to improve the competitiveness and positioning of new brands in the market.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze passenger satisfaction with the quality of railway services at Garut Station using the SERVQUAL method and the Importance Performance Analysis (IPA) approach. The research was conducted quantitatively through a survey of 102 respondents who used PT KAI services at Garut Station for tourism purposes. Data analysis was carried out by calculating the gap between passengers’ expectations and perceptions, and mapping service priorities using IPA with the assistance of SPSS 26 software. The results indicate that overall service performance has not met passenger expectations, particularly due to negative gaps in the dimensions of responsiveness, assurance, and empathy. However, there were positive gaps in the dimensions of tangibles and reliability. The accuracy of train departure and arrival schedules was identified as the top priority for improvement. These findings provide strategic recommendations for PT KAI to enhance service quality with a focus on customer satisfaction.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of performance appraisal and punishment on employee performance in starred hotels in Semarang, Indonesia. In the hospitality industry, where service quality heavily depends on human capital, performance evaluation and behavioral control systems play a critical role in sustaining productivity. This research employs a quantitative approach with a survey method involving 70 respondents from three- to five-star hotels. Data were collected using a Likert-scale questionnaire and analyzed using multiple linear regression with SPSS. The results indicate that both performance appraisal and punishment significantly influence employee performance, both partially and simultaneously. Performance appraisal demonstrates a more dominant effect than punishment in enhancing motivation and work productivity. The effectiveness of these systems is influenced by consistent implementation, open communication between management and employees, and alignment with organizational goals. This study offers practical recommendations for hotel managers in designing fair and effective performance management systems. Theoretically, it contributes to the human resource management literature in the service sector, particularly in hospitality management.

Abstract

This study examines the effectiveness of the SIGNAL (Samsat Digital Nasional) application in reducing queues and increasing compliance among motor vehicle taxpayers in Tanjungpinang. The background of the research is rooted in persistent low tax compliance and administrative inefficiencies, particularly long queues at the Samsat office. The study aims to evaluate whether the SIGNAL application enhances the efficiency of public services and improves taxpayer behavior. Using a quantitative research method with a survey approach and random sampling, the research collects and analyzes data statistically to identify the relationship between digital tax services and taxpayer compliance. The findings suggest that the SIGNAL application contributes positively by streamlining tax payment procedures, minimizing in-person interactions, and offering timely access to tax information, which collectively foster better compliance. However, challenges remain, including limited infrastructure and digital literacy among segments of the population. The study concludes that while SIGNAL improves service delivery and compliance, its full potential can only be realized with enhanced public outreach and inter-agency collaboration. These results have implications for digital governance and suggest that integrating technology into public administration can effectively support tax compliance and reduce service bottlenecks.
