Abstract

This study explored the portrayal of women’s emancipation through the character of Goh Peik Lin in Kevin Kwan’s novel Crazy Rich Asians. The research addressed the issue of limited representation of empowered female characters in contemporary literature and aimed to analyze how Peik Lin embodied women’s empowerment within a modern patriarchal context. Using a qualitative descriptive method and liberal feminist theory as the framework, the study examined Peik Lin’s independence, confidence, and equality with men, particularly through her education, career, and lifestyle choices. The analysis also highlighted her solidarity with other women, especially her friendship with the protagonist, Rachel Chu. The findings suggested that Peik Lin represented liberal feminist ideals and challenged traditional gender roles in modern fiction. The study concluded that diverse female perspectives in literature were essential for understanding gender dynamics and encouraged further research on women’s representation across different cultures and genres.

Abstract

This study explores the psychological responses to loss experienced by the main characters, Toru and Naoko, in Haruki Murakami's Norwegian Wood (1987). Employing Sigmund Freud's psychoanalytic framework Mourning and Melancholia, this study exhibits how each character demonstrates distinct responses to loss. The study was done using qualitative methodology. The findings shows Toru exemplifies the mourning process, gradually letting go of his attachment to what he has lost and re-engaging with life. In contrast, Naoko portrays characteristics of melancholia through her withdrawal, feelings of guilt, and profound connection to the lost individual, which ultimately leads her to emotional devastation. The study concludes that the novel portrays mourning and melancholia not merely as emotional reactions but as deep contemplations on human identity, attachment, and the human struggle with grief.

Abstract

This paper analyzes the function of female solidarity in dismantling patriarchal hierarchies via a qualitative literary examination of Abi Dare's novel The Girl with a Louding Voice. The research examines how female solidarity functions as a means of empowerment in the context of systemic gender discrimination in modern Nigerian culture. The study examines the issues of entrenched patriarchal norms and the intersectional barriers encountered by women, specifically with socioeconomic position, cultural identity, and colonial legacies. The research aims encompass examining the dynamics of female connections in the novel and comprehending how these interactions enable resistance to patriarchal limitations. A qualitative investigation of prominent female characters and their interactions is conducted, utilizing intersectionality and postcolonial feminism as theoretical frameworks to attain these objectives. The primary findings indicate that female solidarity emerges in intricate, diverse forms, influenced by variations in class, age, and resource accessibility. Collective experiences of mentorship, emotional support, and communal care enable women to navigate and overcome patriarchal limitations. Furthermore, the novel underscores the dual nature of education—a legacy of colonialism—as both an instrument of oppression and emancipation. This research enhances feminist literary discourse by clarifying the dynamics of sisterhood in current Nigerian contexts and emphasizing its transformational potential for social change. The paper further examines the ramifications of these findings for wider feminist activity, highlighting the imperative of ongoing critical engagement with power relations within female networks. The limitations encompass the singular textual emphasis, indicating potential pathways for comparative analyses within African feminist literatures.

Abstract

This conceptual study discusses the implementation of the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model assisted by Canva to support task completion in the Science and Social Studies (IPAS) subject for fifth-grade students at SDN Kendal. The PBL model encourages students to actively solve contextual problems, while Canva serves as an interactive visual tool to enhance idea presentation and student outcomes. This study outlines the implementation stages based on PBL syntax: problem orientation, organization, investigation, development and presentation, as well as analysis and evaluation. The findings indicate that integrating PBL with Canva enhances students' critical thinking, creativity, visual literacy, and communication skills. Challenges such as limited device access and varying levels of digital literacy can be addressed through short training, time management, and alternative manual tasks. This study recommends this approach as an innovative strategy to improve the effectiveness of IPAS learning at the elementary level.

Abstract

This study analyzes the effect of internal communication and work environment on employee performance in manufacturing companies in Semarang, Indonesia. Using a quantitative survey method with 103 respondents, data were collected via Likert-scale questionnaire and analyzed using multiple linear regression. Results show that both internal communication and work environment significantly influence employee performance. Work environment has a more dominant effect (β = 0.779) than internal communication (β = 0.168). The model explains 86.8% of performance variance (R² = 0.868), demonstrating strong predictive power. This study provides practical recommendations for manufacturing managers to prioritize work environment improvements while maintaining effective communication systems. It contributes to human resource management literature by establishing the relative importance of environmental versus communication factors in manufacturing contexts.

Abstract

This study examines the relationship between workload and work environment on employee performance in Indonesia's garment manufacturing sector. Given the labor-intensive nature and competitive pressures in this industry, understanding these relationships is crucial for sustainable business practices. Using a quantitative cross-sectional design, data were collected from 104 employees at PT MOD, through validated questionnaires. Multiple regression analysis revealed that both workload (β=0.235, p=0.022) and work environment (β=0.633, p<0.001) significantly influence employee performance, explaining 70.8% of the variance (R²=0.708, F=122.352, p<0.001). Work environment demonstrated a stronger effect than workload, suggesting that investments in workplace conditions yield greater performance returns than workload optimization alone. These findings provide evidence that garment manufacturers can achieve competitive performance while maintaining employee well-being through strategic work environment improvements and balanced workload management.

Abstract

The digital era has fundamentally transformed public communication in Indonesia, presenting critical challenges through the escalation of neutral discussions into debates based on Ethnicity, Religion, Race, and Intergroup Relations (SARA) on social media platforms. This research aims to identify linguistic and interactional patterns that serve as markers of discourse transformation, analyze the role of platform algorithms in accelerating escalation, compare escalation characteristics across X, Threads, Instagram, and TikTok platforms, and develop predictive models for early detection of identity-based discourse escalation. The study employs a mixed-methods design with Digital Critical Discourse Analysis framework, integrating Social Network Analysis and controlled digital experiments. Data collection involved 1,247 discussion threads across four platforms and 28 in-depth interviews using stratified purposive sampling and maximum variation sampling. Analysis utilized statistical testing, machine learning pipeline with BERT-based models, and thematic analysis with inter-rater reliability ≥0.80. Results revealed four distinct transformation phases characterized by decreasing lexical diversity (TTR 0.67 to 0.29), increasing negative sentiment (0.12 to -0.73), and network fragmentation (density 0.34 to 0.12). The developed Transformative Discourse Model achieved 89.7% accuracy in predicting escalation events with 4-14 hours early detection capability. Platform-specific analysis showed TikTok as fastest escalation (14.2 hours) and Threads as slowest (31.8 hours). The research contributes Indonesian Digital Discourse Corpus, cross-platform comparative framework, and evidence-based intervention protocols, supporting digital literacy strengthening and radicalism prevention in Indonesian cyberspace.

Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has accelerated the adoption of telemedicine in Indonesia as a cross-regional alternative to conventional healthcare services. This technology-based medical practice offers increased accessibility and efficiency, yet it also presents legal challenges, particularly concerning physicians' liability in malpractice cases. This study aims to examine the legal responsibility of physicians in post-pandemic telemedicine using a normative juridical approach. It analyzes six key areas: the innovation and legal challenges of telemedicine; the concept of malpractice and legal liability; regulatory dynamics in Indonesia; malpractice risks in virtual practice; international legal comparisons (United States, United Kingdom, Singapore); and recommendations for legal reform. The method used was a normative legal study with statute and comparative approaches. The secondary data used consists of primary legal materials (laws and regulations), secondary sources (academic literature), and tertiary materials (dictionaries/encyclopedias). The data was then systematically reviewed with a descriptive-analytical approach. The findings indicate that although Law No. 17 of 2023 and Government Regulation No. 28 of 2024 recognize telemedicine practice, technical regulations have led to legal uncertainty for patients and physicians. In contrast, other countries have already established legal frameworks that emphasize doctors' responsibilities in virtual care as equivalent to those in in-person settings. In conclusion, Indonesia must successfully formulate implementing regulations governing service standards, digital informed consent, complaint mechanisms, and the delineation of responsibilities between medical practitioners and platform providers. Such legal reform is essential to ensure that telemedicine evolves as an innovation aligned with patient rights protection and the principles of legal justice.

Abstract

This research is quantitative that aims to test the cause-and-effect relationship between variables by providing treatment. This method is used to measure the influence of using padlet applications in learning to write news texts. This research uses a Pre- Experimental design. In this study, researchers used Pre-Experimental Design with the One-Group Pretest-Posttest Design type, namely in this study there is a pretest before being treated. Based on the results of research and discussion, it was found that the ability to write student news texts before applying the padlet application is still in the category of inadequate and sufficient. This is because in the text structure indicator, students are still unclear, chaotic in the text structure, the text structure is not organised and there are some unclear parts. This research describes the ability of students to write news after applying the padlet application where on the indicators of text structure, content/idea development, language use, creativity, and the suitability of theme, the student's news writing ability, most students are already in the good and very good categories.
