Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of the creative painting process in transforming emotional awareness through the expression, reflection, and interpretation of personal experiences. A descriptive qualitative approach based on a literature review was employed. Data sources consisted of scholarly articles and academic materials selected purposively for their relevance to three key areas: visual art as a medium for emotional expression, the creative process as a mechanism for emotional regulation, and the therapeutic or educational implications of painting. Research instruments included a literature review matrix and a data extraction sheet; data collection involved searching, selecting, documenting, and classifying sources, while analysis was conducted thematically through data reduction, thematic grouping, interpretation, and synthesis. The results indicate that painting does not merely produce aesthetic objects but provides a non-verbal medium for externalizing emotional experiences, observing symbols and visual choices, reflecting on experiences, and constructing new meanings. Recent empirical findings demonstrate that painting can reduce anxiety more effectively than non-creative control activities, while systematic reviews highlight the benefits of art therapy for emotional regulation and psychological well-being. Thus, the novelty of this study lies in its synthesis of the emotional awareness transformation process—conceptualized as a sequence of expression, reflection, meaning reconstruction, and psychological integration—rather than focusing solely on art's cathartic function.

Abstract

This study presents a comparative evaluation of hybrid ARIMA-family forecasting models combined with Artificial Neural Networks (ANNs) for seasonal fish-catch prediction in Bengkulu waters, Indonesia, while assessing the role of sea surface temperature (SST) as an environmental predictor. Monthly SST data from NASA’s Giovanni portal and pelagic fish-catch records collected between January 2017 and June 2025 were used to develop ARIMA, ARIMAX, SARIMA, and SARIMAX models, whose residuals were subsequently modeled using Feedforward Neural Networks (FFNN) and Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) networks to capture nonlinear temporal dependencies. Among the evaluated models, the hybrid ARIMA–LSTM achieved the highest forecasting accuracy on the available dataset, with an RMSE of 76.779 and a MAPE of 19.223%, whereas hybrid models that explicitly incorporate SST as a linear exogenous predictor showed lower predictive performance. These findings suggest that although SST remains an ecologically important environmental driver of pelagic fisheries, its predictive contribution may be better captured by nonlinear, lag-dependent relationships embedded in historical fish-catch observations rather than by contemporaneous linear exogenous modeling. Overall, this study provides empirical evidence for selecting appropriate hybrid forecasting models under practical fisheries data conditions and highlights their potential application as analytical components within fisheries Decision Support Systems (DSS) for adaptive fisheries management.

Abstract

Adolescent reproductive health education requires engaging approaches that can effectively address both cognitive and affective learning outcomes. Although previous studies have demonstrated the potential of digital and video-based health education, evidence directly comparing audiovisual media with conventional presentation-based education in randomized controlled trials remains limited, particularly for integrated knowledge and attitude outcomes. This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of video-based educational media in improving adolescents’ knowledge and attitudes toward reproductive health compared with PowerPoint (PPT)-based education. A randomized controlled trial with a pretest–posttest control group design was conducted among 52 seventh-grade students who were randomly allocated to an intervention group or a control group. The intervention group received a 45-minute reproductive health education session delivered via video, whereas the control group received education delivered via PPT. Knowledge and attitude data were collected using validated questionnaires before the intervention and two weeks after it. Analysis of covariance (ANCOVA) was used to compare post-intervention scores between groups while controlling for baseline differences. The results showed that the video group achieved greater improvements in both knowledge and attitude scores than the PPT group after adjustment for baseline scores. The novelty of this study lies in the randomized comparison of audiovisual and conventional educational media while simultaneously evaluating cognitive and affective outcomes. These findings support integrating video-based learning into school reproductive health programs as an engaging, complementary strategy to strengthen adolescent health education.

Abstract

Regenerative tourism has emerged as a response to the limitations of conventional sustainability approaches, yet operational governance models that integrate digital technology, community participation, sacred heritage protection, and regenerative evaluation remain limited. This study aims to develop the SUGITA Model (Spiritual & Universal, Generative Integrated Tourism Approach) as a digitally enabled regenerative tourism governance framework for sacred heritage destinations. A descriptive qualitative design was integrated with Interpretive Structural Modeling (ISM). Participants were purposively selected for their expertise and involvement in tourism, cultural heritage, local governance, and destination management. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews, field observations, documentation, fgd, and ISM questionnaires administered to seven experts. Qualitative data were reduced, categorized, interpreted, and validated through stakeholder confirmation, while ISM analysis involved the Structural Self-Interaction Matrix, Reachability Matrix, hierarchical structuring, driving power dependence analysis, and MICMAC mapping. The results identify sacred-site protection standards, internal regenerative evaluation mechanisms, community and visitor participation, and the roles of traditional and administrative villages as key structural drivers. Limited historical documentation and the absence of an official digital platform emerged as major governance constraints. The study’s novelty lies in positioning digitalization not merely as a promotional tool but as a governance and regeneration mechanism that links cultural values, visitor management, stakeholder participation, and regenerative monitoring. The findings imply that sacred heritage destinations should prioritize culturally grounded governance, community co-governance, sacred-zone SOPs, RegenCheck, and digital visitor management before expanding promotional functions. The SUGITA Model offers an adaptable framework for context-sensitive application in comparable cultural and spiritual destinations.

Abstract

Green behavior and green exposure are increasingly recognized as important links between environmental sustainability and public health, yet existing evidence remains fragmented across urban green spaces, green consumption, workplace practices, tourism, and pesticide use. This systematic review synthesized observational evidence on the relationships between green behavior, green exposure, and health outcomes. Following PRISMA 2020 guidelines, Scopus was searched for English-language journal articles published between 2015 and 2025. Of 118 records identified, 18 observational studies met the eligibility criteria and were analyzed using narrative-thematic synthesis. The most consistent evidence was found for exposure to and use of urban green spaces, which were associated with physical activity, walking, reduced sedentary behavior, mental health, health-related quality of life, and self-reported health. In contrast, green consumption, workplace practices, tourism, and pesticide-related behaviors were more often linked indirectly to health through health awareness, perceived benefits, motivation, or reduced environmental exposure risks. These findings indicate that green behavior and green exposure may support health through behavioral, psychological, social, and environmental pathways. However, because the evidence is predominantly observational and heterogeneous, the findings should be interpreted as associations rather than causal effects. Public health and urban planning strategies should therefore prioritize equitable access to high-quality green spaces while distinguishing direct health evidence from sustainability-related behavioral outcomes.

Abstract

Defect minimization remains a critical operational challenge in continuous polyester fiber manufacturing, where off-merge defects compromise fiber crystallinity and dye uniformity, leading to material downgrading. This study aims to optimize key heat-setting operational parameters—specifically heat-setter temperature and tow speed—to reduce off-merge defect rates in industrial polyester staple fiber production. Utilizing the Taguchi Design of Experiments (L4 orthogonal array) with three replications under commercial production conditions, process parameters were evaluated through Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) and Signal-to-Noise (S/N) ratio analysis under the “smaller-the-better” criterion. Results indicated that heat-setter temperature was the dominant factor influencing defect variability (39.02% contribution, F = 10.66), followed by tow speed (21.95% contribution, F = 6.00), whereas their interaction effect was statistically insignificant (9.76%). Optimal settings were identified at 200 °C temperature and 260 m/min tow speed. Confirmatory trials validated these parameters, reducing the off-merge defect rate from 11.50% to 8.25%, resulting in a net defect reduction of 3.25%. The findings demonstrate that higher thermal energy and optimized tension enhance molecular alignment and the consistency of dye uptake. Industrially, this study provides synthetic fiber manufacturers with an evidence-based, cost-effective optimization approach that significantly reduces scrap rates, improves yield efficiency, and supports sustainable quality engineering in large-scale production environments.

Abstract

Conventional topical ophthalmic drug administration is limited by rapid precorneal clearance, ocular barriers, and low bioavailability. This review aims to synthesize current evidence on biodegradable polymers used in ophthalmic drug delivery, focusing on polymer types, delivery mechanisms, advanced dosage-form formulations, therapeutic applications, and barriers to clinical translation. A narrative review was conducted using the peer-reviewed literature cited herein, with an emphasis on recent studies on biodegradable polymers, ocular drug delivery, controlled release, mucoadhesion, ocular penetration, biocompatibility, and translational challenges. Evidence was organized using a structured extraction framework covering polymer types, formulation platforms, mechanisms, therapeutic targets, reported outcomes, and limitations. Natural polymers such as chitosan and hyaluronic acid provide mucoadhesion, ocular retention, and biocompatibility, whereas synthetic polyesters like PLGA offer reproducible physicochemical properties and tunable degradation rates. Stimuli-responsive systems, nanoparticles, micelles, in situ gelling hydrogels, ocular inserts, drug-eluting contact lenses, microneedles, and implantable systems can further enhance residence time, controlled release, penetration, and site-specific delivery. Despite significant preclinical progress, long-term ocular safety, manufacturing reproducibility, production scale-up, sterility, regulatory requirements, and clinical validation remain major hurdles. Existing evidence supports an integrated approach in which polymer chemistry, dosage form architecture, ocular residence time, safety, manufacturability, and therapeutic targeting are simultaneously optimized. Future development must prioritize standardized long-term biocompatibility assessment, reproducible manufacturing, clinically relevant pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamic parameters, and state-of-the-art manufacturing strategies to facilitate translation toward personalized ophthalmic therapies.

Abstract

Voltage sags are frequent disturbances in industrial power systems that can disrupt system operations and cause equipment malfunctions. The proposed framework integrates Random Matrix Theory (RMT) to identify disturbance patterns. It evaluates the severity, vulnerabilities, and operational impact of voltage sag events using the Information Technology Industry Council (ITIC) curve. This research uses event data, disturbance type, associated equipment, disturbance duration, and three-phase voltage measurements to predict the temporal evolution of ITIC conditions in pattern disturbance dynamics. Deep learning models, namely Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) and Gated Recurrent Unit (GRU), are then employed to predict the temporal evolution of ITIC conditions. Based on power metering unit measurements, the observed voltage variations were non-linear, yet the RMT stability index (Ψ) remained within ITIC tolerance limits. The severity of stability disturbances was successfully evaluated, and the GRU model demonstrated superior predictive performance compared to the LSTM model. Consequently, the industry requires an AVC system—aligned with the combined stability-severity-risk paradigm and the prediction results—to effectively mitigate voltage compensation risks through precise AVC operation. These findings demonstrate that integrating RMT-based fault analysis, ITIC-based severity assessment, and deep learning-based prediction offers a more systematic and predictive approach to voltage sag assessment than relying solely on empirical evaluation. Consequently, this enables more accurate determination of AVC installation requirements, thereby effectively mitigating faults. The implication is a shift in how AVC requirements are assessed—moving from a reactive to a predictive approach—thereby reducing the risk of inadequate or unnecessary compensation.

Abstract

The increasing complexity of air traffic operations requires advanced training systems to improve controller competency, situational awareness, and operational decision-making. This study aimed to develop an integrated aerodrome control tower simulator laboratory for Air Traffic Control (ATC) training using a Research and Development (R&D) approach. The research adopted an iterative and human-centered development process comprising requirements analysis, system design, prototype development, system integration, functional verification, and human-in-the-loop validation. Data were collected through system requirement analysis, prototype testing, operational observation, and documentation review, while the developed system was evaluated using functional and descriptive analyses. The simulator integrates progressive scenario-based training, panoramic tower visualization, radar displays, pseudo-pilot communication, Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP), replay systems, and instructor supervision within a unified training environment. The results indicate that the developed simulator supports operational realism, procedural learning, situational awareness, and objective competency assessment through synchronized logs and replay-based evaluation. The novelty of this study lies in the development of a modular, locally maintainable ATC simulator laboratory that integrates visualization, radar simulation, communication systems, pseudo-pilot interaction, and performance evaluation into a single platform. The proposed laboratory offers a scalable, sustainable solution for aviation education and ATC training.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the performance of existing and alternative U-turn geometric configurations in terms of vehicle speed and queue ratio under varying U-turn demand and traffic directions. Field survey data were analyzed using the Indonesian Highway Capacity Guidelines (PKJI 2023) to determine traffic volume, roadway capacity, degree of saturation, and vehicle speed. A microscopic traffic simulation was subsequently conducted using PTV Vissim to compare the existing U-turn configuration with two alternative geometric designs. The simulation considered U-turn proportions of 5%, 10%, 15%, 20%, and 25% in two traffic directions. Vehicle speed and queue ratio were used as the primary performance indicators. Under the existing configuration, peak-hour vehicle speed decreased to 21.5 km/h in the Margonda Raya direction, while the queue ratio reached approximately 2.8 when 25% of vehicles performed U-turns. Alternative geometric configurations improved traffic performance by increasing vehicle speed and reducing queue formation. Under the same peak-hour condition and 25% U-turn proportion, Alternative 2, a roundabout-type U-turn configuration, increased vehicle speed from 21.5 km/h to 33.19 km/h and reduced the queue ratio from 2.8 to 0.66 in the Margonda Raya direction. However, the effectiveness of the alternatives varied by traffic direction, with Alternative 1 delivering better queue performance in the Bogor Raya direction. The findings indicate that U-turn geometric performance is dependent on both U-turn demand and directional traffic characteristics. Therefore, U-turn design selection should not rely on a single geometric configuration but should consider traffic demand, directional flow characteristics, available road space, and operational performance.
